Cannot wait for Dr. Baker to chime in on the proceedings in the judge's chambers. I kept thinks she should not be allowing some things, but........she never did. I certainly am no legal eagle, but seemed to be so loose in there. And once again, Justin........well, not very effective for sure.
As usual, today's courtroom antics bore little resemblance to the real thing. For starters, the Brady-Jeannie T. skunk contest got into Judge Rose Duncan's courtroom way too fast. Outside of Salem, resolving custody disputes can take months. The judge could have ordered a psychological evaluation of both of them (calling Marlena) and then strongly urged the battling pair to settle their dispute. If things did go as far as a trial, the focus should have been the best interests of Tater Tot. Judge Duncan should have heard more about why living with Brady or Jeannie T. would be the best option for him. That said, attempting to destroy the credibility of witnesses as Ted tried to do with Chloe and Eve is a tactic used in family court.
Lawyer question for DrBakerFan. Ted admitted he's French. Is he a French citizen or was he born here? Can he do court case if he's not a US citizen? .... If Justin is such a good lawyer, why hasn't he spoken up about all the stuff Ted is throwing around the hearing that doesn't seem be about the custody case?
Details vary from state to state, but the basic rule derives from Application of Griffiths, 413 U.S. 717 (1973), in which the Supreme Court ruled that a state cannot prohibit bar admission based solely on the non-citizenship of a lawful permanent resident. As for Justin, it's well established that he's not a good lawyer. In fact, he should have told Brady that he was not experienced in family law and advised him to get a good lawyer who specializes in that area of the law.

Guess the writers forgot that Eric's own friend was killed by Ben. Granted, he and Serena were not together then, but still, some mention of it should have been made when Hope and Eric were talking about Ben.

This is no different than the show failing to mention that Paige was Rafe's sister. That should have also come up already since Rafe is working the case.

Guess they don't, inasmuch as he did not know that until after she was dead.
