Nope. They don't become more acute. Blind and visually impaired people just pay closer attention to and depend more on their other senses than sighted people do.

(I teach a class where I deprive people of their vision and lead them through tasks using their other senses. It takes a lot of work, and doesn't come easily.)
 
If you watch the Little House on the Prairie episode where Mary goes blind and goes to blind school, the first thing Adam teaches her is how to "see" with her other senses. At the time, the show had done a lot of research on this topic so they could depict it properly. You would also never see Mary looking straight at someone once she went blind.

I'm disappointed that Days has been so lazy about this topic. They could have done a couple filler scenes with a therapist showing Steve how to get by. I'd much rather have seen that than Gabby and Stefan talking in the bedroom for the 100th time.
 
I would've been willing to teach them how to do sighted guide instead of the clumsy way Abe was leading Steve.

The Orientation & Mobility Specialist at our agency (for the blind and visually impaired) wrote a long letter to Days chiding them for their irresponsible portrayal of a newly blinded person and how others reacted to him.
 
I am so so so disappointed in this contest story. I had thought absolutely for sure that it would be Eve that cheated to make sure Claire won so then she would "have" to give Brady another chance. So disappointed that Claire did actually cheat and thought it would be oh so funny to win by 1 vote. How long have Claire and Ciara been at each others throats? Writers, is it not old yet?!!!
 
The teen storyline is making me want to pull my hair out! You know it's bad when Tripp is the only redeemable one out of this bunch! Then again, it's been like that for quite some time. I also hate how that storyline seemed to dominate the episode in many ways. On the right side, Patch & Kayla are always a hoot to watch, and it seems that the storyline of Abigail & Stefan0 is about to come to a close.
