Another Melanie filled episode. Well, not all. Daniel has a few things to say to her, how she kept lying to both Maggie and to him, despite all they did for her, nearly getting Brady killed in the process. Melanie begins babbling her apologies, claims she really did miss everyone and wanted to come home. Maggie arrives with Parker, Melanie is excited to see him, hugs, Parker mostly grins and nods his head. Brady is leaving, Melanie talks to him a while by the elevator, warns him to put ice on the lip, again is sorry for all that happened, but Brady shrugs it all off, will see her later.

Parker has called for Melanie to come back, then asks her to come play with him. Maggie has been filled in by Daniel on the casino caper, Melanie has admitted she was stupid for doing what she did. She mentions wanting to talk to Maxine about getting her job back, borrows the keys to Dan's car, plus asks for some $$$ as now she has none. Dan complies, she leaves, Maggie & Daniel talk. He claims he figures he straightened Mel out, but Maggie notes he easily gave up the car keys and emptied his wallet.

Nicole has run into Abe in the square, he mentions knowing she called 911 and then hung up, she admits is was Melanie in trouble, but all turned out o.k. She doesn't give specifics. Abe mentions something or other about Daniel & Jennifer breaking up over something Nicole did (why I have no idea), Nicole just sighs, says, it is always good running into you, Abe. He returns the same statement and leaves.

Sonny has gone to Victor's, tells him about needing the $200,000. Victor says he isn't about to pour any money down the deep hole Sonny has already dug with that club. They argue a bit, Sonny mentions how Chad gave him a larger share of the profits, and put money in a contingency fund as well. Victor wants to see the contract Sonny signed, reads it over, asks if Sonny did. Nope, trusts Chad. Victor show him how if the new club is a failure, Sonny will lose everything himself, including Club TBD. Victor thinks Sonny got into this to show Will life can be as exciting here as in L.A. Sonny packs up and leaves.

Over at Club TBD, Chad tells Tad that Jordan was tired, decided to call it a night. Tad mentions Ben, and how it seems Chad is on his case, tho Chad claims it is only because he is boss, but Tad thinks maybe it is because of Abigail. Sonny returns, is rather angry, tells Tad to give them privacy, and reams out his partner for stabbing him in the back. Chad denies this, and fast talks his way, claiming though he had read that contract and knew what was in it, he knows it is immaterial as he has such faith in Sonny. Sonny is not pacified, though, and leaves.

At the hospital, Paul is packing up his things to leave, when Marlena arrives. She heard he was discharged, but staying in town for therapy, and thought maybe he might want someone to talk to. Paul says yes, he does, and about insanity. He cites the definition of doing same thing over and over expecting a different outcome, and then accuses marlena of doing just that to him. She has repeatedly come and tried to get him to talk, he has repeatedly told her he has nothing he wants to talk about, but she keeps coming back. That's insane. Marlena says his statement has spoken volumes, then leaves. He goes to some hotel, the bell boy has brought the luggage, comments about knowing Paul would appreciate discretion as to his being there. Paul tips him, the guy says his name is Derrick, call him if he needs anything. Paul later, sits on the bed, flashes back to making out with Sonny, and decides to go out. leather jacket and big baseball cap pulled down, he leaves, goes to the club just as Sonny is angrily walking out, mutter about how he is really screwed. Sonny goes to the park area near the arch, and Paul is right behind him, taking off his cap, smiling as Sonny turns around.

Nicole & Brady are at the K mansion, he is praising her for her quick thinking about being an investigative reporter, and getting those bad guys to back off. They exchange playful conversation, she is glad she & Daniel made up so he would at least take her call, he wouldn't have not long ago. Brady grins, she assures him they are just friends, that is all, but Brady thinks she has her guard up sky high. She assures him she is not interested in Daniel that way, but Brady thinks they know each other well, are friends, it might be something to explore. Then warns that "unless you are holding out for something still with Eric Brady, because it ain't gonna happen.

Victor goes to see Marlena, is worried about Sonny and Will. Marlena doesn't want to get in trouble again, like the last time she interfered. Victor realizes they don't have a good track record, but thinks the two are in trouble.

Eric is surprised to see Serena, astonished. She has been thinking of him all the time since they last saw each other. She knows he wanted to be a priest, mentions never having seen him in a collar, he says been quite a year. She wants to go somewhere to talk, how about his room upstairs. No, he moved, but his landlord is making repairs there. But he knows of somewhere, and of course, takes her to that very private place in the park where no one can see you or hear you, unless they are hiding behind those shrubs and trees that miraculously still have green leaves in mid-December. (yes, am being sarcastic).

Serena shivers a bit, says it is cold, talks about the Congo heat, tells Eric she is not just visiting, is moving there, and about the research grant at University hospital, but that she really picked this job because Eric was here. She has never stopped caring about him.

Anne comes to visit Theresa, bringing a bottle of expensive wine. They chat back and forth about Theresa's life, Paul, Anne decides to leave, giving Theresa the wine to go drink with Paul. She mentions his manager, who undoubtedly makes more money, so put a good word in to him for her. LOL

Melanie arrives at the hospital, talks to Maxine about getting her job back. Maxine assures her no problem, and she is going to take Mel's application off Anne Millbauer's desk (mentioning she is not fond of Dr. Dan at all) and take it straight to head of nursing. Maxine takes off, and Theresa gets off the elevator. Melanie says hi, they happily chat, are glad to see each other, Theresa shows the bottle of wine she planned to share with a patient, only he was discharged. Melanie laughs, Theresa suggests they go for a pizza. Sure enough. They decide to exchange phone numbers, and give each other their phone. Both put the numbers in, hand the phones back, with Theresa saying.....so if you see a call coming from Theresa Donovan, that's me. Huh? says Melanie. Theresa repeats. Melanie takes a step back.Theresa asks what is the matter. Melanie announces "I am Melanie Jonas.

It looks like Melanie has already run through that huge divorce settlement from Philip. Or, it's more likely that the current writers don't even know about it.

Poirot said:

Melanie is a spoiled brat. I asked the question the other day about her financial situation....does anyone remember what happened with her sizable settlement from Philip? Are we just supposed to forget about that or have the writers forgotten? I liked that at first Daniel at least made an attempt to give her tough love about what she did but then it's just brushed aside as just Melanie being Melanie. Funny how that excuse never works for Nicole. When she's just being Nicole it's as if she's doing the devil's work. I thought it was funny at the end when Melanie and Theresa exchanged numbers. I'm having a hard time with this Serena character so far. She just looks too much like Melanie. She should have been cast as Sarah Horton. She still would be involved with the same people but it wouldn't seem so contrived. I feel like the writers are holding up a sign saying "here's the new couple you're supposed to root for!" Never mind the contrived out of the blue backstory that makes no sense and has never been spoken about onscreen.

Thanks KL....my thoughts too. I was typing my post while you posted. Been wondering that myself. The thing is, Melanie has only been gone 2 years and the stuff with Philip wasn't all that long before that, maybe a year or two. I'm sure there are current script writers that were here then. Heck, the one head writer was here previously with the show as producer.

What is it with Salemites always mentioning the great couple that was Jennifer and Daniel ? What ? Abe felt left out and wanted in the action ? Enough already !:beat:

Theresa and Anne : FF for me.

Theresa and Melanie : Here comes the cat fight. More FF for me.

Paul and Sonny and Victor saying something about cheating : talk about the writers holding up another sign (to use Sparkster's right on expression) saying : Here's what's gonna happen : Sonny will cheat, him and Will are going to get destroyed, as this is all we write when it comes to couples.

Chad is definitely a snake. A true Dimera. And I want Victor to take him down !

Eric and Serena : Soooo contrived indeed, I don't care. And I don't care for Eric, period. He can already take Serena with him and get out of town, so Nicole can be free to pursue something with Daniel. At least, Brady is all for it. Refreshing to see that.

And lastly : Too much Melanie.

:rotfl:at Paul calling Marlena insane (in a roundabout way). I'm curious though, why does she keep going to Paul asking if he needs to talk. Is this common practice when athletes have surgery LOL.

That bit about Sonny not reading over that contract he signed is horse manure, I don't care how much he "trusts" Chad. When Sonny first came to Salem he mentioned he interned at a law office when he was thinking about becoming a lawyer, but then again that was written under different writers. Even if you overlook that important detail, his dad is a lawyer and I'm sure Justin has told Sonny about the importance of reading before you sign.

So Sonny is in desperate need of $200,000. It's a good thing his wealthy ex-boyfriend is in town!

Chad is definitely a snake. A true Dimera.
Oh yes, he is. Wherever he is, Stefano is chuckling -- a DiMera has outfoxed a Kiriakis. Other than Sonny, poor judgment or ignorance was displayed today by: 1) Eric by going to the park for a private conversation -- doesn't he realize anyone could be lurking in those bushes (e.g., muggers, drug dealers, Rory and Bev, and Jeremiah); 2) Ann Milbauer telling Jeannie T. to go after baseball managers -- sorry Anne, you may see right through the hypocrisy of Jen Jen and McScruffy, but you should realize that it's the star players who make the big bucks and it's the managers who get fired when teams fare poorly; and 3) the Love Doctor giving cash and the car keys to his spoiled brat daughter -- instead he should make her wear one of those tracking devices. Perhaps the biggest fool of all is Paul Narita for continuing to sniff after Sonny. If Hollywood big shot, Will, learns of this, Paul will find his picture on the cover of an issue of trashy Sonix, which will contain a badly-written hatchet job of an article revealing not only that he's gay, but also that he tried to fool baseball executives by going to Salem for secret shoulder surgery.

Eric and Serena: I wish I could tell you what they talked about but there was a really distracting piece of lint on my sock and I had to get it off. In other words I saw nothing interesting about them. I usually don't rush to snap decisions about new couples/characters but my first thought after their first scene was "Bored now." Hopefully I'll be able to warm up to them because I'm sure they are going to be pushed as the "Next Big Thing."

I don't hate Melanie nor even dislike her but if we could get say two or three consecutive days without her I would not be sad.

He's the same actor to my eye. Still can't talk without a voice-over, too.

Then warns that "unless you are holding out for something still with Eric Brady, because it ain't gonna happen.
Let's hope.

I really don't want them to bring Abe on, even though I've missed him, if he's only going to snark at Nicole. Leave that to Victor, PLEASE.

Now, there's something you don't hear every day.

And we really didn't today, either...Parker's voice was clearly dubbed.

I would have liked Melanie and Jeannie T to have hung out for awhile, so they could like each other anyway. Oh well, fewer Melanie scenes that way.

Serena, don't waste your time on Mr Pouty McFallenpriest. Move on to either of his ex-brothers-in-law, please.

Loved Anne, as always. Jeannie T is still despicable, I am not finding a shred of redemption in her.

Paul - what a pathetic loser. Please sign with a baseball team soon and leave Salem forever you stalking stooge!!

Once again, characterisation fail. We're supposed to believe Sonny is this super savvy business dude, made all this awesome megacash with the coffee shop, then opened Club TBD...but failed to read a contract with such devastating clauses? Or have a lawyer look at it [his dad may be in Dubai or Phnom Penh or wherever, but surely he could email it??)? And sunk his money into a pre-gentrified stink pit that costs handily over $200.000??? (I guess the money tree ran out of leaves this week?) STUPID.

It's also stupid to believe that Sonny would feel the need to compete with Will, the "awesome writer," when Sonny got him his START. (To say nothing of the fact that the article stunk on toast.) Will has always been insecure because Sonny accomplished so much - and Sonny has always been strong and confident. Suddenly he's worried and opening a second club (which, incidentally, he commenced PRIOR to Will's career change) to compete with Will's lousy career? Hard to swallow.

Oy this Paul character really needs to learn something about living in the closet. He could take a page from my life at 19 if he wants to know how to do it, and I didn't have to contend with sharky managers and paparazzi. First: Don't make goo-goo eyes at your hotel bellhops. Second: Don't emphasise key words like "discreet" while making goo-goo eyes at a guy. Third: Don't be famous, yet check yourself into a hotel under your real name (that's what agents are for). Fourth: Don't stalk your ex-boyfriend in a leather jacket and low-browed ballcap (suspicious garb anytime, let alone in early December) at every opportunity.

Days like this make me thankful for the Spectator. Not sure I could stomach this dreck without this place!! :wine:

Was Parker played by a different actor today? The local news broke in on part of the episode today, and I only saw him for a few seconds. But he didn't look like the same Parker. Or maybe he's just grown up and looks different?

No, same kid.

Or maybe the more vocal kid. Twins. He actually had a tiny speaking part.

Someone set me straight. Did I miss something during my fast forwarding the last few weeks? Was there a conversation between Brady and Daniel about Brady witnessing him and Kristen rolling around in bed? Was Brady only upset with Kristen or was he upset with Daniel and all is forgiven now? His sudden chumminess with Dr. Dan was surprising to me given what I remember of the last time I actually watched (half-watched) any scenes involving Brady and Daniel LOL.

I'm kinda sad about Serena's début. I was looking forward to one of my favourite actresses joining the show, but if history repeats itself, we will have her isolated in most of her scenes with Eric, whom I cannot stand. I hope the writers change their modus operandi for this story, and the character, and mix her in with others.

I think today was the first day we heard Serena's name. I don't
remember anyone else saying it.

Interesting place for Eric and Serena to talk. The park. I wonder
if anyone was listening.

Does Marlena always help patients after surgery? Does she
suspect something else about Paul?

Too bad Sonny's father was out of town when he signed the
contact with Chad. Justin is a lawyer

I thought Theresa's dream was interesting because "dream
Brady" said they were connected.

Does Salem have elves? I thought it was interesting how
fast the Christmas decorations got up from the previous show.

Jason, you're so right!! That bellhop seemed like he was flirting with Sonny!! And yup, discreet is NOT the word he should've used! :rotfl:

By the way, was that bellhop the new actor who was coming on in one of the threads a few days ago? The one many people thought is a love interest for Sonny or Will?

edited to write out text-speak phrase....JS
