So.........I am envisioning that plane leaving the midwest, but having to stop in New Jersey or NY to add fuel for the long trip. And I do not care WHERE it landed in Italy, if the pilot took off again quickly, then he absolutely HAD to stop closeby (Rome, Milan, etc.) to refuel) And I do positively agree, there HAD to be more than one pilot in that cabin. However, restrictions are not the same for private planes vs commercial ones, so perhaps one pilot was fine, along with twice or triple the number of gas tanks needed.
