Lucas is bringing Eric & Jennifer into an AA meeting. Jen is just along for support, she will sit in the back with Eric, but as she starts to sit, pain spasm. She mentions having pain pills, doesn't want to take any, will stand. Lucas is encouraging to Eric, then asks him to help him make the coffee. The 2 men leave. Jen takes out the pills, goes for water to take them. Eric spots her doing so,
Later, in the meeting, Lucas is leading, mentions newcomer Eric in the back, asks if he wants to say something. Eric stands, looks around, shuts down. I cannot do this, he rushes out, Jen follows, catching him in the square. She is trying to talk him into getting the help he needs, Lucas arrives as well, more encouragement, Lucas reminding Eric there are other meetings he can go to, where no one will know him at all. Lucas leaves, Jen pleads some more, but Eric gets on her case about the pills. She protests, prescribed meds, he notes she is abusing them. She gets very defensive, reminding him she was injured, and has to take these pills because of an accident he caused while driving drunk. She leaves, Eric goes into the Pub, orders a whiskey straight up. JJ comes in (tho honest, at first it looked like Ben! ) is in the shadows, but sees Eric push the drink away, telling the bartender he just is not in the mood. And at her doorway, Jen pulls the pain pills from her purse, then shoves them back down, grabbing the keys and letting herself in.

Earlier, Theo is visiting with Abby, who is feeding Thomas. She is talking of living in DiMansion eventually, Theo wonders how that will go with grandfather. Well, he is gone, moved to Europe, probably Italy, so is not there, and Chad intends telling Andre to leave. Theo can't believe Stefano left without saying goodbye, mentions some things of his that are there. Abby promises when they come in, he can have his things any time. JJ has come in, is having a fit about Abby moving into DiMansion. Says when Thomas gets older, he will have fun playing Dungeons & Dragons down in real dungeons. Theo has left, JJ & Abby argue about her moving in there, both talking of loving their sibling, and caring what happens to them. Abby is not happy with JJ, so is going to forget this conversation.

Chad is meeting with Justin & Adrienne, wants to sell his half of the club to Sonny, Adrienne has power of attorney, will run it by Sonny. Chad has explained he needs the cash to pay the back taxes on the house he & Abby want to buy, yes, his father's house. Adrienne thinks it is a big mistake to move back in there with Abby & Thomas, but Chad says father is gone, Andre' will be evicted. He gets a call from Andre, letting it go to message.

But over at DiMansion, Andre is holding the gun, murmuring to Hope how she used her husband's gun to murder his father. And she will pay big time. He puts the gun away, Harold comes in saying 2 Federal men came with an eviction notice, and if back taxes not paid by Friday, they will be back to escort any occupants out. Andre' doesn't care about this now. Harold leaves, Andre' says to himself he only wants to avenge his father's death. He gingerly removes the bandage covering the cut area, which has a series of butterfly tapes on it. He calls Chad, says to stop evading him, it is rude, come to the mansion, imperative we talk NOW. He then gets a call saying "they" are back. Ahh, good to know, keep watching. He then leaves the house.
Chad comes in, no Andre'. He finds the bloody bandage, calls Harold in asking if Andre' is injured, but Harold has been told not to talk to anyone about Andre's condition, and he left a few minutes ago. Harold is puzzled over everything going on, doesn't understand any of it.

At the Brady house, they all return home, happy to find Chase, and he is o.k. Scolding as they talk of the "dangerous case" Hope was working on, putting them all in danger, and there are guards watching the house, the kids. And now comes the why did you do that to Theo, Chase doesn't know himself. Knows they all must be disgusted, is going to pack his things, sure they don't want him around. Of course, Hope hugs him, he is family, she is sorry she did neglected both him & Ciara, but assures him when someone in the family screws up, and they all have at some time, they have to make it right. So he has to apologize to Theo.
She & Rafe go out to unload the car, leaving Chase & Ciara to talk. Now Ciara wants to know why, Chase is really sorry, thinks he is as bad as his dad. He was so glad Ciara & her mother let him stay with them, but felt he was losing her when he would see her with Theo. He reminds her of all the fun decorating the tree in the Square, then Theo arrived, and he no longer existed. Ciara is sorry, she should not have ignored him, but now they have to go tell Theo.
Hope & Rafe return with everything, Ciara & Chase leave, find Theo in the square. Chase tells Theo he was the one sending the texts and the flyer, he is very sorry, but Theo gets very upset, yells at Chase, probably won't ever forgive him. Chase sits on a bench, Ciara talks to Theo a bit, she is sorry, too, but chase feels really bad, and maybe, after some time passes, Theo will be able to forgive him. Theo doesn't know, has to think a bit, wants to be alone to do so.

Hope talks with Rafe about the situation, only has been able to get thru this all because of his help. He thinks she should have a guard, too. Nope, she's a cop. He thinks she is hungry, decides he will cook that fish, she should get some wine. He heads off to the kitchen, she smiles, follows, and later both come out, wine glasses in hand, saying it really wasn't that bad. He mentions a couple of ingredients...put them on anything, it will work fine. They sit on the sofa, she gets up, then he does, she stumbles, spills wine on him, awkward comments, he leaves.

Chad comes back to the Horton house, he & Abby discuss moving into DiMansion a bit, he assures her just the 3 of them, no Andre, if Stefano returns, he has to find somewhere else to live. She is hesitant, but agrees, he pulls out a ring box, down on one knee as he gives her the big diamond ring. (this is all cute). Kiss, kiss.

Hope is at her window and why she doesn't pull the curtains across, I have no idea, but she leaves them open, and in the darkened room, lays on the sofa, pulls a blanket over herself, turn s on the TV. Outside the window, there is Andre' lurking, peering in.

P.S. Andre' appears to be wearing a hat, a fedora, and I think a trenchcoat. So, is looking his darn best like Columbo. Or??? (someone else, cannot think of the name, as Columbo always looked a bit rumpled, Andre' definitely does not)

But.....Hope the cop, who doesn't need a guard because she is a cop, who knows Andre' and others are a threat to her and her family.....just leaves that curtain open. I was going to make a crack about no screens, but...it is winter, will give her a break, there.

I had the same thoughts, Poirot. I can't believe the costumes the characters come up with to go unnoticed. Yeah, cause nobody is going to be weary of a shady man, wearing a trench coat, a hat and bandaids on his cheek. No problem, there. Way to go, Andre. Then again, we are talking about Hope, who's been to the school of the Salem PD. Cause, yeah, don't close the curtains, and leave all the lights on so everyone can take a look inside.

The rest of the show was just O.K. for me.

I can't tell you how tired I am of seeing Eric and his martyr face/frowned expression. Again, yeah, he screwed up, and I would say this is normal, but since Eric has been like that for more than a year now, way before him driving drunk, I can't "appreciate" the acting.

Loved seeing Lucas, though, but I'm still disappointed he's not used more in his own storylines. Although at the AA meeting, I thought he put Eric on the spot, too fast, despite making him sit in the back. He had told Eric he didn't have to talk, but then draw all the attention on him. To me, that's a bad move.

Jennifer : I don't know how I feel about this. I just can't help but think : remove the high heels, that will help !

Theo and Chase are good. Believable. But I'm sorry, Ciara is just... blah for me. Sorry.

And JJ regarding Chad : I just fear, with the talk JJ had with Abby, and Chad wanting to buy the Dimeira mansion (stupid, stupid idea, as a family of three does not need such a huge mansion, especially one with that horrid history), that JJ will be right. I hope not, but I fear the writers will turn Chad bad again down the line. I wish Chad would be the one to help Hope, after finding out she did kill Stefano, and get rid of Andre, but I'm afraid it's too much to ask. I'm afraid it will all go down for Chad and Abby.

Anyway, and I never thought I would say this about Steve, my favorite character ever, but I am glad we got a break and no Ava and him today. Wow ! Terrible, isn't it ?

Once again unpleasantness abounded in Salem. First, there was the unshaven Eric bolting from Lucas's rehab meeting. He should have stayed. At least none of the people who turned to look his way shouted: "Hey, you're the guy from the sex tape," or "You murdered St. Daniel." Over in the Town Square, there was the pathetic Chase taking his medicine for bullying poor Theo. Then, at the Deveraux home, there was that font of all wisdom and former Eve Larson bedmate, JJ, lecturing Abigail about her plans to marry Chad and live in the DiMansion. When will JJ get it into his thick head that Chad is a make-believe DiMera who spent his formative years being parented by Judge Maddie and the idiotic D.A. Woods? Things were brighter over at the Brady place, where Rafe prepared a dinner of fresh-caught fish. (Couldn't he have left them for the cabin raccoons?) However, Hope then made the same mistake as the Widow Jones in the old song Harper Valley PTA, by failing to "keep her window shades all pulled completely down." Finally, lines of the day go to Harold for "I don't understand anything" (neither do many Days viewers, Harold) and peeping-Tom Andre for "I feel like Little Nell."

Today was a big shrug to me.

Chad and Abigail: It was nice to see them again but this whole thing with the Di-mansion is just dumb to me. For one thing I don't get WHY Chad wants to live there especially if he wants to cut ties to La Familia. And it's more then obvious that Abigail doesn't want to live there so why she won't just tell Chad that is a mystery to me. The whole thing just reeks of a way to create angst for them early on. The problem is its already boring before it's even started because it could have been so easily avoided.

Hope and Rafe: I know I'm in the minority here in that I really don't have an objection to them becoming a couple but on the other hand it's happening way too fast. With everything that's happened to Hope she's in condition for a relationship a blind man can see that and forcing them together isn't going to change that.

At the end of the episode when I saw Andre in his fedora I thought "Is he an Indiana Jones fan?" Then I thought about a bit more and when I considered the DiMera family's occupation it was more likely an homage to the gangster flicks of the thirties. Giving Andre's obsession with "fatha" I was particularly reminded of White Heat. That film starred James Cagney as a sociopathic thug who had a mother fixation. Not exactly the same thing but there parallels.

Finally I have to give kudos to the writers and producers of "Days" for continuing to give Daytime television viewers things we didn't know we needed. Last year it was a storyline involving elephants and today it was a reference to "The Old Curiosity Shop" by Charles Dickens. For those who are wondering what I'm talking about Andre said he felt like Little Nell who is the main character of that novel.

It does seem to be that Chad realizes Abby is hesitant, so why does he keep pressuring her? He was not raised there, nor was he raised by Stefano. And we all know that with tunnels, dungeons, etc. that is a horrible place for them to live. Bad, bad events. Plus, no matter how Chad thinks he will "evict" Andre'. that evil clown will not.
And now, my dear friend Troy, I want to address your reference to Dickens' character "Little Nell". That probably is a very good thing, as it would seem young people are sadly lack in knowing things they should know.....in reference, I watched a reporter on serveral college campuses in Texas, ask various students some questions. First of which was Who Won the Civil War. None knew what she was talking about, with a few asking when did it happen...1965? Same for who is currently Vice President, from whom did the U.S. win Independence, and When was that? But guarantee you they all who, every single one, who Snooky was (Jersey Shore), who was Brad Pitt's wife, and who was his previous wife. Even knew who was the singer of a couple of current hits.
So......Days is doing the U.S. a favor when they mention something like that. Just remember, they all had no idea who won the Civil War, but hey, they can vote now!
Off the soapbox.....

LOL...Poirot, I've always thought one should have to pass a basic civics/citizenship/history test in order to register to vote.

This show is just not holding my attention lately. I can't seem to get into any of these stories. If I'm not bored, I'm irritated. If I'm not disgusted, I'm apathetic. There's just not really anything exciting going on. I have a feeling it's going to be a very boring sweeps month.

Let's see, what are some positive things I can say about today's show....

I was happy to see Justin, Adrienne, and Lucas.
Abby's hair and clothes were nice.
I'm glad Theo was visiting with Abby and Thomas but wish the scenes included Chad as well given the history with the three of them.
It was nice to see Chase apologizing to Theo and I liked Theo's reaction. The actor is very good.
Oh, and thank the soap gods I didn't have to witness any more of that garbage with Steve and Ava today.

I agree with everything you said Poirot. While I was being tongue-in-cheek I certainly didn't mean to imply it was a bad thing that Days of Our Lives had Andre make a somewhat obscure literary reference I just thought it was surprising. Heck if it made some people think "Who's Little Nell" and maybe look it up so much the better. I realize that last statement is probably the very definition of wishful thinking but I'm a glass half full kind of guy. :)

I will also say that giving Andre's nature it made sense for him to reference a Dickens character there are probably writers they might have made him say "I feel just like Edward Cullen" from "Twilight."

Today we actually saw Andre's crazy side. I laughed when he was looking
at himself in the mirror doing the dance of death.

Hopefully, there aren't any dragons in the DiMera dungeons :)

Chad is going to have to change all the locks in the house and
block the tunnels to make sure Andre or someone else doesn't
come into the mansion.

I wonder if Chase bullied Theo because he got SORAS'd

Nice to see Lucas, Adrienne, Justin and Harold today.

The big question now is will Eric stop drinking and Jen
stop taking pills.

Why does Eric have to tell Jennifer's BROTHER Lucas that she had an accident and hurt her back?! Does he not know about Daniel? Other than that, nice to see these 3 and am loving that Lucas is involved here instead of Maggie. It's interesting as it seems all the other shows I've watched with AA meetings feature the participants in a semi-circle or circle? So I thought it was different seeing the classroom seating. Plus Lucas seated at the front was weird too.

Andre is creepy. The constant attention to his face had better be leading somewhere.

I liked Chase apologizing to Theo and also Hope reassuring him. I still wish Claire were part of this storyline. Maybe she will be eventually.

Abigail looked great today. Though I didn't understand why she was sitting home dressed up.

I was surprised Chad sold TBD but if it gives Adrienne something to do on-screen, I'm for it. I don't want to always see her with Lucas or Justin.

Does TBD have 2 entrances now? I thought that doorway JJ came out of was for the restrooms/supply closet/office? Shawn used it last week as well.

JJ watching Eric was really random. But then back in the Fall when the new writers first took over, we had a lot of scenes with random characters interacting. Maybe the show is going back to that.

I was wondering that as well if JJ was going to end up giving Eric a mouthful after the accident with Jennifer.

What's odd was barely months back JJ was sneaking in with Rory to get into TBD now he can just walk in. Went from 19 to 21 in a short span of a few months lol.
