Days renewed

Well, duh. I loved Chandler Massey's (Will) tweet about it.... and Camila Banus' (Gabi) live tweet video about it. Heh.

One of the articles said that they were now going back in January to start filming. Since they already have through June done, doesn't that put them right back to being 8 months ahead? I am really confused as to why they would do that.
 
actually, they have episodes thru August! (Days will not be shown for 2 weeks in Aug. for Olympics)
 
I am a little confused - it sounds like this is the renewal that the show announced a few months ago. So, does this mean it continues through Sept. 2021 (real time) or does it get renewed again THIS September?
 
Right now, Days is good at least to Aug. They have filmed shows to the point where they take the 2 week break for the Olympics. We can only guess that, once again, NBC & Sony have indicated they want to pay less for the show........thus EVERYONE was released from contracts, not just the cast. Corday fudged when he said the show was renewed, as obviously, they are still in negotiations. They may be getting close. There WAS talk of Days moving to a new streaming service NBC is starting called "Peacock", and so this is why this chairman said the show was staying on broadcast NBC....not going to the streaming service. Then in the very next breath, after saying Days is staying on NBC, he says "we are very close". This means they have not yet reached agreement. It also means the writers cannot begin story, as they won't know exactly who is returning and for how long.
Maybe some will have short contracts, some will go to recurring, who the heck knows. They won't say, or they lie.
In the past, renewal would be announced in Feb/Mar.
 
Thanks, @Poirot, for clarifying. So, when we see news about people coming back (like Sheila and Shawn Douglas, etc.) that means that they have already been back and filmed their parts and will all be aired before the Olympics? No one is filming now, correct?
 
Correct. DAys is not filming yet at all. Just like the news of 2 actors appearing the week of Jan. 20th. Heck, either a real flashback, or both filmed their scenes back last April or May. They sure do keep things under wraps if they can, don't they?
 
Days family on screen are extremely happy and so are the fans. :) Now let's hope the writers remove the big dark cloud hanging over Salem and write some good, bright, uplifting stories, as well as the gloom.
