agree, but tis nice to see college is so important to him.

we all have seen teens (characters) so important to a show, but as they age, too often their role in family life grows smaller and smaller, until they leave town for another school or a job...and the actor loses his job, and many times, is unable to get another cuz producers think the actor is too identified as a certain character

At the 11-minute mark, Stephen Schnetzer confirms he will be taping several episodes next week as Steve Olson, Julie's brother. He last appeared on Days in 1979. Below is the script cover and outline of that episode.

I remember he played Cass Winthrop on Another World. Very passionate and intense character. I recently was watching the Homeland series on Hulu and the same actor played a doctor named Dr. Cass Winthrop. A nod to his Another World character? This was 2013. And he still looked like he had not aged at all! Very youthful. I am looking forward to seeing how he interacts with Julie.

Bill Hayes (Doug) was almost 20 years older than Susan Hayes, & had been in failing health for a while, thus unable to film for Days. Thus, Julie has a brother, a family member she can jabber with, and who will be there for her whenever the show decides she needs someone. to lean on when Doug is no longer able to be around.

Bill Hayes was 98 when he passed away this past January.

Is not often I recognize an actor from another soap (I don't watch any other), but I do, for some reason, recognize and know who Stephen Schnetzer is. Glad Days was able to snag him,

WOW. And how great is that??? Wonder with this return if he has followed the Stefano way of life and soon there could be lots of little Olsons in the scenery?
Last we knew, he had one son, Spencer, who was never seen, only mentioned by Julie once (in 1991). Supposedly there was a storyline for Spencer to come to Salem as a young man, but it was scrapped.

Stephen Schnetzer is a great actor. Cass and Kathleen on AW were my favorite couple - I liked them even more than Bo & Hope and Tony & Anna on Days. He also did a few episodes of Law & Order and moved Cass to ATWT when AW was cancelled. I followed him although he didn't get a lot to do (he became sort of like Mickey - showing up when someone needed a lawyer).

I'm with you JS - I think his stories could be really interesting since he left town basically in disgrace 40 years ago. I wonder how long he'll be on?

THE THREE FACES OF STEVEN OLSON.

Here's a look at the three actors to have played Julie's brother, Steven Olson: Flip Mark played Steve for 2 episodes in November 1965. James Carroll Jordan played Steve for 10 episodes in July and August 1972 (pictured with Mark Tapscott as Bob, Nancy Wickwire as Phyllis and Karin Wolfe as Mary); and Stephen Schnetzer (pictured with Susan Seaforth Hayes as Julie) played Steve for 115 episodes from June 1978 to December 1979. After a 45-year absence from the Salem canvas, Stephen Schnetzer will be taping his first episode of "Days" since 1979 this coming week, which will air much later in 2024. Click here to read this 2015 interview I did with the original Steve, Flip Mark:

Leo Howard (new Tate) is 26 and will be 27 in July. Tate is 16. Is it that difficult to find a 19-year-old actor living in Los Angeles who looks like a 16-year-old versus hiring an actor who will be 30 in 3 years?

Not sure if this was discussed here anywhere, but Leo Howard (the new Tate) is engaged to be married to Natasha Hall, the actress who has been temping as Sloan. So, "temporary Sloan" got to work with "original Tate" and now will be marrying "new Tate."
