July is also sweeps month. I guess unleashing the villains on Salem was their big sweeps thing.

I think they figure that in summer, folks are busy a lot elsewhere, or with company, or traveling, etc. So, they drag, prolong, saving whatever they think would be exciting, interesting, for Sept. LOL

Kristen is stunned when she finds out what Rolf is up to. [What could "stun" Kristen: that he's making a duplicate to take her place?]

Leo tries to get Gwen to answer a few questions. [Gwen knows so little about anything, what kind of info could Leo get from her: where to get a shirt like Sonny's.]
Xander and Sarah set out to find clues that might finally prove who killed Abigail. [Who do they think they are: Bo and Hope or Nancy Drew and her sex-starved boyfriend Ned? (If it's Nancy and Ned, they should try looking inside the old clock).]
