Peacock Beyond Salem 2 (interviews with cast)

It looks like Bo and Hope’s epic love story will continue on after all.

Peacock announced Monday that the Days of Our Lives spinoff Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem will return with five new episodes (airing Monday, July 11 through Friday, July 15) that will also feature the return of Days icons Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso.

Reckell and Alfonso are set to reprise their roles as fan favorites Bo and Hope — which comes as a big surprise, since Bo technically died in 2015. As you’ll recall, Bo was held captive for several years and reunited with Hope, only to die in her arms from a brain tumor he never knew he had.

Additionally, Alfonso departed Days of Our Lives in 2020 after 37 years amid a contract dispute, saying at the time, “I think that that chapter has closed, and a new one needs to be started.” The split wasn’t exactly amicable, either: Alfonso sniped that “in the last few years, Days of Our Lives is not the Days of Our Lives as I know it.

Beyond Salem‘s new tale will span the entire globe, from Monte Carlo to Hong Kong, as beloved characters from the OG series “trade the comforts of home for an adventure of a lifetime,” per the official synopsis. Over the course of the five-episode epic, “heartwarming family reunions take a dangerous turn as a mysterious adversary wreaks havoc on their lives. The next chapter of Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem is story full of larger-than-life romance, jaw-dropping twists, and high-stakes drama — and it all connects back to a plot that long-time Days of Our Lives fans will surely remember.”
I agree with Kristian Alfonso (Hope)

When management said they wanted to rest the character of Hope for a few months, then bring her back to Salem with a big storyline, it was something about Hope being involved with a man in the military. I wonder if they reworked the storyline and incorporated it into this new Beyond Salem installment?

Here's the thread when it was announced Kristian Alfonso (Hope) quit the show back in 2020. The comments are kind of funny, now that she's returned to Days, even if just for the Beyond Salem part.

I, for one, will not be watching Beyond Salem. If it is not incorporated in the regular story line, I am not interested.
As far as Kristian, if you don't want to be Hope Brady anymore than stay away. If she was okay with reprising her role she should have done a quick arc on the real Days and been there for a major story line like the birth of her grandchild. Come to Salem, be present, and then leave with Ben and Ciara. Better ending than she gave us previously.

Kristian became upset when the show asked her to take a 5 month "rest", decided it was time to leave, even tho they promised big store upon return with a Navy Seal. Maybe she missed her friends, or having somewhere to go most days, who knows? Maybe friends talked her into just the short few days for a Beyond?? Who knows? Personally, I don't like these pop in visits to regular show by some of the actors who seem to want to hold on to their characters, so will return for short spurts. Yes, it is nice to see a fav, but the show should just recast, and let the actor have the free time they seem to want and enjoy. Otherwise, just have the character move away. (I HATED them killing Abby rather than recasting). Beyond Salem is really presented as a separate show/movie, whatever.

They should've either immediately started looking for a new Abby when Marci Miller told them she wanted to leave, or just had Abby go to Boston to help Jennifer and Mike with Laura's estate until they found a new actress to play her.
