Bo woke up from a nightmare about Diane. Hope asked Alice how they could win against such powerful people, and Alice reminded her that David took down Goliath with a slingshot. Bo and Megan were surprised to find Howie downstairs eating their breakfast. He said Bo invited him to double-check the security system at the art exhibit since security was his specialty. Megan showed Bo and Howie the morning paper, which had a front-page story on Diane’s body being found in the river with a bullet in her head. Howie was upset by the article and wanted to go talk to the police. Maxwell arrived and watched Bo, who refused to accompany Howie to the police station. He told Howie that the police were surely handling everything and didn’t need their input. Hope told Alice that she was worried about Bo and wanted to quit sneaking around. She told Alice that she loved Bo and wanted to be with him forever. Alice assured her that she would be. Hope said Bo wanted to meet with the two of them later at Jackson Square. Maxwell and Megan went off to get ready for a meeting, and Howie asked Bo what was going on. Bo told Howie that Max was part of a crime syndicate and forced him to “kill” Diane in order to get on the inside. Bo said he wasn’t sure what to do, but Diane was already dead when he got there. Megan took a call from Marlena, who was trying to reach Bo. Megan asked if she could take a message, and Marlena asked Megan to tell Bo that Diane had gone to New Orleans to get her son back because she had changed her mind about the adoption. Megan went to Maxwell and told him that they had run into some trouble. Bo and Howie prepared to meet Hope and Alice at Jackson Square. Howie showed Bo the drawing Eugene made of the green prism that was connected to wealth and power. Bo wondered what Maxwell knew about the prism.

Bo and Howie met Alice and Hope at Jackson Square. A tourist took a photograph of them, and Bo ripped the film out of the camera. Howie paid the guy to leave them alone. Megan told Maxwell about the phone call from Marlena. She said a lot of people in Salem knew why Diane was going to New Orleans. Megan got angry and threw a glass against the wall, yelling that her plans were now ruined. The Jackson Square foursome discussed the green prism, but Alice and Hope had to go back to the mansion. As they left, the man with the black glove followed them. Megan continued to break things as she complained to Maxwell that Bo would never buy her story that she found their baby since Diane’s baby was taken to New Orleans right before she was killed. Megan warned Max that she was weak before and allowed her mother to get in her way, but she told him that anyone standing in her way of being with Bo this time would be dealt with seriously and swiftly. Then she ordered him to have the butler clean up the mess. Alice and Hope returned to the mansion and asked Megan to go shopping with them for dresses. Megan declined, but then Alice invited her to lunch because Bo might be there, too. Megan accepted. At the exhibition hall, Bo remarked how strange it was that one prism could be worth so much money to cause Blanche’s death and also allow someone the power to rule a lot of people’s lives. Maxwell arrived and told Bo and Howie that he wanted a secure barrier around the prism sculpture to add an extra layer of security. Maxwell left, and Howie asked how they were going to be able to steal the prism with a barrier in the way. “I guess we’re just going to have to fly,” Bo said.

Pete strips at Beefcakes – 8/15/84
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VSZBATxVb8

Pete’s boss told him that one of the strippers injured his back, and he asked Pete to take the guy’s place on stage. Pete refused and told the man he was only there to serve drinks. The manager asked Dean, one of the other strippers, to persuade Pete to dance, but Pete was adamant that he didn’t feel comfortable doing it. Calliope arrived with stage uniforms she had sewed for the club, and she recognized Pete from Shenanigans. Pete asked Calliope not to tell anyone he worked there, and she agreed. Dean, dressed as Zorro, went on stage, danced, and stripped. Pete finally gave in, dressed up as a cop, and began to strut his stuff on stage. The women went wild and were shoving dollar bills at him. Pete grabbed the money and ran off the stage, even though he had kept his pants on the whole time. The manager got angry and told Pete he was supposed to strip down to his bikini, but Pete told him he was lucky he even got up there. Dean and Calliope congratulated Pete on a great performance. The other dancer informed the manager that he would be out for at least two more days. Calliope sensed that Pete was increasingly uncomfortable with his new job.

At the restaurant, Megan went to the ladies’ room and Hope tried to contact Bo on her watch. Alice warned Hope not to do that in front of everyone, but Hope was convinced she could be discreet. Two men walked up to “check out” Hope and laughed about her talking into her watch; Megan walked up and asked what Hope was doing. She and Alice lied that it was a childhood game Alice taught her in order to get her to eat her spinach. Megan asked if Bo was going to show up. Bo and Howie arrived, but they said they had to get back to the exhibit because a new security system was being installed. Megan sensed that Bo was distracted by something. Howie and Bo waited for the ladies to leave, and Bo wondered how they were going to “lose” Megan. Howie asked if Bo believed Megan was aware of Maxwell’s illegal activities. Bo said he didn’t know but always believed that Megan was sweet and innocent. Howie excused himself from Bo’s car in order to make Megan “a statistic.” Alice and Hope tried to persuade Megan to go home while they continued shopping, but Megan insisted on driving them wherever they wanted to go. A police officer interrupted them to say that Megan’s car had been stolen. Howie stole the car and hid it behind some trees. Megan tried to throw her weight around with the officer; while she was yelling at him, Alice and Hope slipped out of the restaurant. Megan was furious when she realized they had left her there. Bo and Howie followed Hope and Alice.

Bo and Howie met up with Hope and Alice. Bo gave Alice a photo of the green prism and asked her to have a duplicate photo made and enlarged; then she was to take the photo, with specifications, to a glass shop in the French Quarter to have a duplicate made. Bo said there was going to be a parade for the royal family “from Tibet or someplace” the next day; at that time, Bo planned to break into the exhibit hall and steal the original prism. He said they had to examine the original in order to decipher what “three prisms for power” meant. Alice and Howie stepped away and allowed Bo and Hope some time together. Hope worried about Bo’s safety, but he assured her that they would be together soon. Alice told Bo she would have the duplicate prism for him the next morning, and Hope planned to keep the others away from the exhibit hall so Bo could steal the original prism. The foursome walked away, and the man with the gloved hand emerged from the shadows.

And . . . 25 years ago next week . . .

When Doug almost died in the hospital, Neil ordered Hope to stay away from her father. Julie lied when Doug asked if Hope was still seeing Bo. Larry offered his support to Julie and Hope, but Bo kept interrupting his times with Hope. Julie confronted Bo and asked him to leave Hope alone. Bo suggested to Hope that they keep a low profile until Doug recovered. Maggie tried to run interference between Julie and Hope. Liz, Marlena, and Alice were there for Julie. When Hope told Melissa she was determined to see Doug against Neil and Julie’s orders, Marie explained to her the seriousness of Doug’s condition. Eventually, Doug demanded to see Hope and told her to stop seeing Bo. Hope tried in vain to convince Doug that she loved Bo, but she agreed to take some time and think about her future before making any big decisions about her relationship with Bo. Pete made a nuisance of himself at Shenanigans, hoping that Danny or Chris would fire him; Melissa confronted Pete about his behavior. Bo panicked when Hope relayed the message that “Michael Brown” had tried to reach him. Alex told Hope he was praying for Doug’s recovery. Meanwhile, Roman and Anna, who were hiding out in a secret room behind a wall of books in the Salem library, believed that Alex was the Slasher. Anna tried to sneak out while Roman was asleep, and the library alarm went off. Roman scolded her and promised to send Bo for a bubble bath and cosmetics. Anna talked about wanting Roman’s arms around her, but Roman made it clear that he only loved Marlena. When Eugene presented Marlena with his Aunt Leticia’s letters referencing voodoo rituals in Haiti, they began to wonder if Roman dabbled in voodoo when he had his “breakdown.” Roman vowed to prove Alex’s guilt in order to clear his good name, especially with Marlena.

Liz and Neil’s Party 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KX5fLCm-us

Liz and Neil held a summer pool party for their friends at their new home, the former DiMera mansion that Alex had lived in after marrying Renee. Calliope showed up with her new friend, Pete, and was not happy to see Eugene there. She asked Anna if she invited Eugene, and Anna said no. Calliope and Eugene exchanged dirty looks. Liz and Neil were surprised to hear Alex was enjoying the party since he wasn’t invited. Mickey arrived but was surprised to find Pete at the Curtis party. Mickey asked Pete if he was looking for trouble. Pete said he was just there to attend the party. Mickey warned Pete not to “accidentally” bump into Melissa. As Maggie walked around the corner, Mickey reminded Pete of their deal – he could stay out of jail as long as he stayed away from Melissa. Maggie was shocked. She tried to talk to Mickey about it, but Mickey abruptly left the house. Mickey left as Don was arriving, and Maggie ran past Don to chase after Mickey. Don seemed bothered that Maggie went after Mickey without telling him why, and Liz offered to listen if Don wanted to talk. Kimberly and Tony left Don and Liz and joined the others outside. Maggie got in the car with Mickey and told him she couldn’t believe he lied about who shot him. She realized that Pete shot him and he let Pete go free to keep Pete and Melissa apart. Mickey got upset and told Maggie if she wouldn’t get out of the car, he would. Mickey left the car, and Maggie went after him again.

Megan was surprised when she answered the door and found Alice and Howie there. Alice told her that Hope had invited them for breakfast. Megan said that was fine, then rolled her eyes. Megan was about to go upstairs to get Bo and Hope when Alice faked a fainting spell. While Megan looked after Alice, Bo and Hope met in his room. He reminded her where she was supposed to distract the security guards while he stole the prism from the exhibit. Hope told Bo she was scared, but Bo told her everything was going to be fine. Howie phoned Bo’s room and warned him that Megan was coming up. Bo sent Hope back to her room. Megan arrived and told Bo she had a surprise for him – they were going to spend the day together. At breakfast, Bo told Megan he had a lot of work to do. She insisted that Maxwell had been working him too hard, and she was going to give him the day off. Hope couldn’t stand Megan’s pining after Bo, but she made a point to trade some insults with Bo at the table for appearance’s sake. Maxwell interrupted the breakfast to tell Bo he needed him available all day and night. Megan asked to speak with Max in private, and they went into the foyer. She warned him about getting in her way with Bo and told him there was only one place for him if he did that. She sneered at him as she called him “Daddy,” and Maxwell grabbed her by the arm just as Bo opened the door and walked into the foyer. Bo asked if the two were arguing, and they lied that they were disagreeing about where to place a sculpture. Later, Bo and Howie met up and went over the plans for stealing the prism. Bo told Howie he would wear a mask and pretend to be drunk in order to get to the area where he would break into the exhibit hall. Alice picked up the duplicate prism and made a big show about how it was for her friend Caroline Brady in Salem.

Bo took the prism from Alice and asked her to look after Hope if anything happened to him. Alice told Bo that he didn’t need to ask that, but she also told him that nothing had better happen to him. Hope was waiting for Alice in the car when a police officer asked her to move the car. Hope tried to explain that she couldn’t leave because she and her grandmother had an important appointment. The officer told someone to call a tow truck; he told Hope to get out of the car or she’d be arrested. Hope continued to plead with the officer when Alice got in the passenger side of the car and thanked the man for looking after her granddaughter. She said it was so good to know that there were still some nice, young men out there. He thanked Alice, who then told Hope to hit the gas. The two left the officer in the dust. Maxwell was visited by two cartel members who insisted on visiting the exhibit hall themselves if the prism was as valuable as Max said it was. Hope complained to Alice and Howie about her no-good, cheating husband as she went into the exhibit hall. She demanded to know from the security guards where her husband was. They tried to send her away, but she said she wanted to confront her husband, who was seeing another woman while she was pregnant. Then she pretended to faint, and Alice and Howie asked the guards to get her some water. Two more guards showed up, and then Alice pretended to faint. One of the guards suggested calling a cab, and Alice refused, saying that pregnant women should never ride in cabs. The guards were trying to usher the gang out of the area after making sure that the alarms were working, including the floor alarm. Meanwhile, Bo crawled down a rope into the other room. As he began to switch the prisms, he started to fall.

Bo caught himself and was able to switch the prisms. In the other room, Hope continued to become hysterical while the others tried to get her to leave. She accidentally knocked over a sculpture full of marbles, and the marbles went all over the room. Hope, Alice, Howie, and the security guards got down on their hands and knees to retrieve all the marbles when some of them rolled under the door and set off the alarm. The guards rushed into the other room and found the rope dangling from the ceiling. They hurried everyone out of the room as Hope prayed that Bo was all right.

Tony and Alex remarked about how Liz’s house had changed hands. Alex said Liz’s “old man” was probably looking up at them with a great deal of satisfaction. “You think he’s down there?” Tony asked. Alex told Tony that if Kellam Chandler wasn’t in hell, Alex didn’t have a thing to worry about. After Chris and Anna beat Eugene and Calliope at tennis, Calliope and Eugene fought about which one of them was the inferior tennis player. Maggie caught up with Mickey in the stables, and he admitted that he knew Pete shot him. He also admitted that he made a deal with Melissa to keep her away from Pete. Maggie realized that Don knew, but Mickey told her Don only guessed it. Maggie told Mickey she realized how much he loved his daughter, especially since he could be disbarred if the truth ever came out. She told Mickey she was sorry and touched his arm. “Don’t do that,” Mickey said. “Not unless you mean it.”

Alex introduced himself to two nurses from the hospital. They asked if he was a doctor. He explained that he was the hospital administrator until he became a writer. He said his new book, “Investigating the Criminal Mind of the Master, Stefano DiMera,” would be out in a month. Kimberly talked with Don while keeping her eyes on Tony. She told Don she was happy to be back in Salem with her family and some new friends. Don said he knew Marlena was happy to have her there, especially since her twin sister died. Kimberly said she liked Marlena, and Don replied, “She’s one of my favorite ex-wives.” Anna asked Tony if it was hard being in his old home, and Tony said there were painful memories there. Anna said that not all the memories were painful. She said she knew Tony was paying Kimberly to photograph some real-estate brochures for him, and she asked if she could borrow her to shoot some of her dress designs until some of her investments came through. Tony told her he would think about it. Alex gave Anna a hard time about trying to hustle Tony at a party, and Anna asked when he would get the advance money for his book. Alex told Anna not to worry, because he would help her out. Eugene mumbled something about Calliope, and Anna asked, “Why don’t you like her, Eugene?” He replied, “Because she’s an eccentric.” Mickey told Maggie she should go back to the party, because Don was probably wondering where she was. Maggie asked Mickey if he thought Pete was any less dangerous to Melissa since the shooting was an accident. Mickey told Maggie that Pete was wild and impulsive and not the kind of young man he wanted dating his daughter.

Liz and Neil spent a few minutes in the hot tub, then slipped upstairs. They decided to “take a break” from their guests. Calliope walked through the stables and tossed some hay up in the air. Eugene jumped up and asked what she was doing. Calliope asked why he was there. He told her that he was remembering being at another party at this house, and asking someone to marry him. Calliope asked if he had a wife or was divorced; Eugene told her that his wife died. He also said that Trista often said he made her laugh. Calliope said she could believe that, and Eugene said Trista wasn’t laughing at him. Said Calliope, “I think that even though you can be very wacky and weird, sometimes you can be sweet and nice.” Liz and Neil enjoyed their time in bed until it started to rain. She suggested they go down and play charades with the guests. The two exchanged playful banter, but Liz didn’t realize Neil was bothered by a secret he was keeping. Maggie told Don that she realized what he had already figured out about Mickey, Pete, and Melissa. She worried about what would happen to Mickey, but Don told her nothing would happen if nobody found out. Tony asked Kimberly if she missed Paris and all her friends there. Kimberly made a sour face and said she didn’t miss her “friends,” but she missed who she was when she first went to Paris. She told Tony that she was young, full of hope, and naïve.

Bo escaped from the exhibit hall and took off running as security guards chased after him. He donned a juggler’s costume and joined a parade, but didn’t know he was being watched by the man with the black glove. After the parade, Bo started running again. The guards were chasing after him, and the man with the black glove shot one of the guards in the back. Howie, Alice, and Hope split up to find Bo, and Hope was determined to find him before someone could kill him. Bo and Hope ran into each other, and he dropped the prism into her purse. Suddenly, a clown ran by and stole the purse. Bo and Hope chased after him, and Bo got the purse back. They were running when the man with the black glove shot another security guard. Hope told Bo that one of the guards was down, and Bo said someone was obviously taking care of them. He didn’t know who, but they didn’t have time to stop and find out. Some police officers joined the chase, and Bo and Hope had to hurry off. They joined some people on a float in the parade, then later had to pose as figures in a wax museum’s window. The police officers ran past the wax museum. Bo and Hope went to a trolley and asked the driver how much it cost to ride. “For you two, nothing,” said Alice. She told them to get in and hold on. The man with the black glove also was riding on the back of the trolley. Alice drove the trolley to a parking lot near the river, and Bo jumped off. Hope called out for him to be careful. Bo ran up a ramp onto a showboat, where he met up with Howie. He gave Howie the prism and told him to hold onto it until they got back to Salem. After Bo left, Howie took out the prism to peek at it. “If I lose this prism, Bo is going to kill me,” he said. The man with the black glove reached for the prism. Howie jerked his arm, and the man went overboard . . . with the prism! As the song “Holding Out for a Hero” played, Bo rode his motorcycle up to the Oak Alley plantation. “This is it,” Bo said to himself. “Just perfect. Made in heaven. For me and Hope.” Bo entered the lawn and began to ride up to the mansion.

Pete and Melissa ran into each other on the docks. Pete didn’t want Melissa to get in trouble, but she reminded him that this was an accidental meeting. She asked how he was doing and if he’d been dating anyone. He told her no. He said he had gone somewhere with one person, but it didn’t mean anything. Melissa seemed to get upset, and Pete explained that he went with Calliope to Neil and Liz’s party in the hope that Melissa would be there. Melissa said she would have gone there if she had known. Pete told her that he mouthed off at Mickey. Melissa asked Pete if they were ever going anywhere. Pete got nervous, and Melissa asked if he was waiting to meet Speed. Pete told her he was worried that Mickey or Maggie might see them together. Melissa said she didn’t care, but that she was worried about Don finding out that Pete shot Mickey. Pete assured her that Mickey wasn’t going to say anything. Melissa said she wished she had run away with Pete, and that he hadn’t gotten a different job across town. Pete told her he was making some changes and got his own place above Shenanigans. Melissa said she would like to see it sometime. Pete told her that wasn’t possible and left. A few seconds later, he returned and asked if she meant it. He said he wouldn’t be able to fix it up as nice as Hope’s place, but would try. Melissa asked if he would be inviting girls to his apartment. Pete told her no, became emotional, and left. Melissa went to Blondie’s to meet Maggie, said hi to Liz and Neil, and took a seat at a table. Eugene approached her and asked for a favor. He said that Marlena and Trista had a “double cousin, twice removed,” and he was meeting him for dinner the next night. He asked Melissa to be the guy’s date. Melissa looked up, and Pete walked into the room.

Hope hitched a ride with a couple and asked them to help her get to Oak Alley. They explained to her that they were gypsies and traveled wherever the wind took them. Hope enjoyed talking with the people until she realized they were going the wrong direction. She asked if they could take her the other direction. They told her no, because they always followed “the wind.” Bo arrived at Oak Alley and walked into a dispute between a cleaning crew and the kitchen staff, who were both understaffed and in need of help to prepare for a 200-person dinner the next day. Bo tried to explain that he was there to look for Hope, but it was clear they would be putting him to work. Hope begged the gypsies to stop the van and let her out, but they refused to leave her on a dark, deserted road. They assured her they were not murderers, but Hope said she had to get to Oak Alley. They were not eager to comply with Hope’s request until she offered to pay them money. “Only a great deal of money would make us go against the wind,” said the gypsy woman. Alice arrived at the Hathaway mansion and told Maxwell and Megan that she had lost Hope and was trying to find her. “Perhaps Mr. Hoffstedder can help you find her,” suggested Max. Alice said that was a good idea and started to go inside when Maxwell told her that Howie wasn’t in there. “I was just about to see him,” he said. “Where is he?” Alice asked. “In jail,” said Max. The gypsies stopped the van but wouldn’t let Hope get out. They told her it was time to eat. Hope reminded them that she gave them money, but it wasn’t enough. Then they asked her to pay them money to eat. Hope said she didn’t have any more money. The woman told Hope she liked her dress and would exchange sausage for the dress. Hope said she wasn’t giving up her dress. The woman showed Hope a gypsy dress, and Hope said she wouldn’t be caught dead wearing that. Later, Hope was wearing the gypsy dress and eating food. The woman passed out, and the man assured Hope that nothing would wake her. He offered Hope wine, but she said she wasn’t in the mood. The man smiled at her and asked what she was in the mood for. The man tried to get Hope to kiss him, but she refused and tried to distract him by having him read her future. He told her that this would be a night she would never forget. After Bo’s cleanup duty was finished, he was ordered to move some costumes into another room. He was told that the costumes were period costumes from the Civil War, or, as they preferred to call it, the War Between the States. Bo came across a dark-haired mannequin and had a conversation with her, saying that she looked like Hope. Then he asked the mannequin to dance.

As Bo talked to the mannequin, he began to daydream about dressing up in Civil War-era clothing and dancing with Hope at a cotillion. Alice, Maxwell, and Megan went to the police station and found Howie. Alice assured the officer in charge that Howie was a personal friend of the Horton family and had never done anything wrong. They were told that Howie was only being detained for questioning. Maxwell asked Howie if he went to the art exhibit. Howie played dumb, but Alice nodded her head. As Howie told the story, Alice helped him out, explaining that Hope was very upset because she felt her husband wasn’t paying enough attention to her. She said Hope had an alcoholic beverage and became emotional. They ended up in the exhibit hall, and Hope accidentally knocked something over and set off the alarm. Afterward, Hope ran out, and Alice and Howie lost her. Howie said he was going to find Hope, but the officer stopped him and said that would happen only if there were no charges filed against him. After Bo finished kitchen duty, the coordinator offered him a job working the next day at a party for the Daughters of the Old South. Bo agreed and pretended to leave, but then sneaked back into the mansion. The coordinator left. Bo decided he was giving Hope 30 more minutes to get there. Later, Bo went outside and walked the grounds. He had flashbacks of his history with Hope as the song “Whatever We Imagine” played. “Hope, where are you?” he asked. “What happened?” Minutes later, Hope, attired in her gypsy clothes, walked out of the mansion and ran to meet Bo. They embraced as Bo said, “Hope, I thought I’d lost you.” Said Hope, “You’ll never lose me, Bo. Not ever.”

Calliope delivered new costumes to Beefcakes, and the manager, Sam, told Pete to pick out a uniform and create a new, make-believe identity. Pete was still uncomfortable with the idea of dancing, but Sam threatened to find someone else for the job in two minutes. He also told Pete that he wanted him to do whatever it took to make the ladies happy, and Pete demanded to know what he meant by that. Sam told Pete the ladies liked his type because he seemed shy and innocent because of his inexperience on the stage. He told Pete he wanted him to meet and mingle with the ladies. Pete didn’t like the idea, but Sam threatened to let him go if he didn’t do it. Calliope slapped Sam on the arm and walked out. Pete agreed to do what Sam wanted, but he vowed to get a better job. Speed stopped by the club to see Pete. He reminded Pete that he could make some good money at the job, and he alerted him to the fact that “rich broads” frequented the place. He told him he could end up with tickets to Europe, yachting excursions, and money for his pockets. Sam went on stage and introduced Pete as the “Arabian Knight.” Pete almost got cold feet, but Sam promised him a base pay of $100 a night, plus tips. Pete went back on the stage and started removing his clothes as the women cheered and waved money in the air. Pete finished his act, scooped up all the money on the stage, and ran behind the curtain. He asked himself what he was doing as Speed went back to congratulate him. Sam asked Pete to get dressed and go meet some of the ladies who were asking about him. Pete considered not doing it but decided that they looked okay. Sam told Pete not to worry about what they looked like, as long as they had cash.

Bo and Hope were finally reunited at Oak Alley. They were embracing and kissing when Bo pulled away and asked Hope where she’d been and what she was wearing. He asked if she had been partying with the gypsies. Hope pulled him into another kiss. He introduced her to the plantation/museum and told her it would be theirs all evening. Hope told him that one of the gypsies read their future. Bo asked her what was in their future, and she told him to watch out. Hope took off running, Bo chased after her, and the two ended up in the grass, where they kissed some more. Hope told Bo this would be a night they wouldn’t forget, according to the gypsies, and Bo suggested that they not make the gypsies out to be liars. The two headed toward the mansion. Hope worried about breaking into the mansion, but Bo told her the caretaker left the door open and he gave the guard his best bottle of cognac. The two made their way inside. Hope told Bo that the mansion was beautiful, and the two started to get romantic as they heard the drunken caretaker sauntering down the hall. They hid behind an umbrella when the caretaker entered the room, a bottle of cognac in one hand and a flashlight in the other. As he took a drink, he muttered that something wasn’t right. The caretaker ordered the “Yankees” to come out, and Bo and Hope stepped out from behind the umbrella. Suddenly, the drunken caretaker passed out. Bo told Hope he was going to deposit the man in his room so he could get some sleep, but told her not to disappear on him because tonight was going to be their night. Back in New Orleans, a woman was giving a man a book on the history of New Orleans and a map of the museums, including one that the man had asked about. She told him that it was several hours outside of New Orleans and asked if he minded waiting. The man seemed to be getting impatient as he made a fist with his gloved hand. Bo returned to find Hope decked out in clothing reminiscent of Scarlett O’Hara. She addressed him as Rhett Butler and warned him that her daddy might show up and horsewhip him for trying to seduce her. The two flirted with each other, and she warned him that others might find out. “Frankly, my dear,” said Bo/Rhett, “I don’t give a damn.” The two began to kiss.

Bo picked up Hope and carried her upstairs to a bedroom, where he had a party platter from the kitchen and the house’s best champagne. Hope admitted that she wasn’t very hungry, and Bo warned her that her dress was coming off. She asked what Scarlett would have done, and Bo said she probably would have taken “the damned thing” off. Bo and Hope removed her dress to reveal a corset and petticoat. The two joked about her undergarments, kissed, and began to remove them as their song, “Tonight I Celebrate My Love for You,” played. Bo and Hope professed their love for each other and moved to the bed. Later, in the afterglow, Hope stated that she was a woman now. Bo told her that she had always been a woman to him . . . and a little girl. He promised to love her forever. Hope said she didn’t want the night to end, and Bo told her it wouldn’t because they would always be together. Hope reminded him that that was an awfully big promise, and he told her he needed to break it for a couple of minutes because he had to be sure that Abe got the prism he gave to Howie. Hope asked Bo what would happen when they returned to Salem. Bo said he would like to march into Larry’s home and march her right out. She assured Bo that they would find a way to sneak around and meet. Bo suggested putting a sign on the front of the mansion, saying “Bo and Hope slept here” or a sign on the bed saying “Bo and Hope made love here for the first time.” “And the second, and . . .,” said Hope as the two went at it again.
