Pete and Melissa met again on the boat docks. Melissa told Pete she didn’t want to be away from him. Speed interrupted them again and said she wouldn’t have to, because Pete wasn’t going on the camping trip. Speed told Pete he was needed at the council with the Warriors. Then Tess showed up and started screaming at Pete for his continued involvement with the Vipers. She slapped Pete, and he wanted to hit her but didn’t. Tess apologized to Pete, and Melissa and Speed left. Tess asked Pete to with her to California, and she promised that she would find a way to support the two of them. Tess told Pete she didn’t want to see him throw his life away. Pete agreed to go on the camping trip, to get Tess off his back and because it was the right thing to do. Pete called Speed and broke the news to him. After Pete left, Speed met up with Melissa and told her to give Pete a message if he called her: If he didn’t show up for the meeting with the Warriors, the Vipers were going after Melissa. Pete called Danny and asked him to find Speed and give him a message – that even though he was camping with Chris, he was going to try to work things out. Melissa had asked Danny to put her in touch with Pete, so she was called to the phone and told Pete that the Vipers had threatened to come after her.

At their new apartment, Larry told Hope there were people parked across the street who were watching them. Larry wanted to put Bo behind bars, but Hope told Larry she received orders not to testify against Bo, and she was happily going to follow those orders. Larry was surprised when Abe arrived and Hope said she invited him. Hope told Abe that she had decided not to testify against Bo. Larry said he was against Hope’s decision, but Hope lied that she wanted to spare Larry further public embarrassment. Abe told the two that the officer Bo punched was not going to pursue charges either, in light of what Bo had done for Roman and the city of Salem. Hope was thrilled to hear that the charges would have to be dropped. Before Hope and Larry’s wedding party, Hope wandered down to the boat docks. Melissa ran into her, and Hope noticed that Melissa seemed like she was in trouble. Melissa said she was fine, then wondered why Hope was there. Hope said she had been reminiscing. Melissa asked if Hope was thinking about Bo and if she still loved him. Hope denied that. Bo went into Shenanigans and saw Danny, who told him everyone had been trying to reach him to tell him that Hope refused to testify and all charges were dropped. Bo asked Danny if Hope did that for him, and Danny said apparently Hope did it to spare Larry the embarrassment of a trial. He told Bo there was still cause to celebrate, but Bo said he had an idea of another way he could celebrate. At the party, Hope opened the door to Tom and Alice, who gave Hope her recipes. She told her that the doughnut recipe was there, too, but was for her eyes only. Next were Don and Maggie. Don told Hope she cost him a client, but that she did a nice thing for the Bradys. Drew, one of the kidnappers, arrived and instructed Larry and Hope to introduce him as one of Larry’s old school friends. Abe arrived next with his date, Lacy, and they were followed by Melissa. Tom made a toast to Hope and Larry. The doorbell rang, and Hope went to answer it. “I hope we’re not late,” said the woman at the door. Hope didn’t recognize her, but then the woman’s date appeared – it was Bo. “Well, well, well,” he said. “If it isn’t Mrs. Welch.”

Hope and Larry wanted to know why Bo was at the party, and Bo explained that he was there with his date. His date, who was invited to the party, said she was unaware that Bo knew the Welches. Don asked Bo not to start any trouble. Larry ordered Bo to leave. Bo said he would only leave if he was asked to do so by Mrs. Welch. He said he had never taken orders from Larry before and wasn’t going to start now. Don again asked Bo to leave, but Bo said he first wanted to propose a toast to the bride and groom. Alice asked, “Bo, we’re not going to have any trouble, now, are we?” Bo greeted Alice and Tom, and Alice told Bo that he was making people uncomfortable. Bo then proposed a toast: “To the bride and groom. May they have a long and happy life. No hard feelings. Oh, and to Mrs. Welch . . . may all her dreams come true.” Bo told everyone to have a good time, because he planned to party all night. Bo hurried out, and Don stopped Bo’s date from going after him. “Miss Hathaway, don’t you think Bo should be left alone?” he asked. Larry was surprised to realize that Bo’s date was Maxwell Hathaway’s daughter, Megan. Hope approached her and asked if she was Megan Hathaway. Megan said she was and told Hope she actually saw her the other night at Blondie’s (Neil’s new name for Doug’s Place, and his nickname for Liz). Megan said she hoped she didn’t cause any trouble between Bo and Hope, as it appeared they had had a fight. Hope said that was unimportant. Megan told Hope that she and Bo were old friends, going back to high school. Hope told Megan she was aware of that. Megan said hello to her old friends Tom and Alice, who were happy to see how elegant Megan turned out. Megan then told her father that she seemed to have erred in bringing Bo to the party. Maxwell told her that Bo and Hope broke up, and Bo embarrassed the Welches by kidnapping Hope from the wedding. Megan went back to Larry and Hope and apologized again. Hope told Melissa she was going out for air. Alice followed her outside and wanted to know what was going on. Hope ran into Alice’s arms and burst into tears.

Hope told Alice that she was just overcome by everything that had happened recently. Alice didn’t believe Hope and asked her to confide in her grandmother. She told her that she was surprised Hope dropped the charges against Bo, and she said it was obvious to the whole Horton family that there were already problems in Hope’s relationship with Larry. Hope told Alice she wanted to confide in her, but she had to promise not to say anything to anyone. Alice agreed, and Hope admitted that there were problems. Alice asked what the problems were as Larry walked up behind them. “Problems?” he asked. Hope lied that she was talking about Bo hurting Larry’s re-election chances if he didn’t stay out of their lives. Larry told Alice that Tom was looking for her, and Alice told Hope to call her tomorrow. When Alice left, Larry accused Hope of getting ready to spill the beans to Alice. Hope denied it, saying that she cared too much about Bo to let anything happen to him. Larry told Hope that he didn’t care about Bo, but he was concerned about his political future. He told Hope that there were some very powerful men behind him who could help him get to the White House, and he refused to let her end their marriage and ruin his chances to continue advancing his political career. Megan suggested that she and Maxwell should invite Hope and Larry to their yacht. Later that night, Hope slipped out of the house and went for a walk along the boat dock. She ran into Megan, and then Bo showed up. “Can I join the party?” he asked.

Pete met up with Speed on the pier and told him he was ready for the “council” meeting. He told Speed that he got the message about the threat to Melissa, and he wanted assurance that Melissa would be left alone. Melissa saw Pete and begged him not to get involved with the Vipers and the Warriors. Pete told her he had to, because he owed the Vipers and was still a Viper. Melissa said she would tell Chris, but Pete said he stole the car and left Chris on the camping trip. Melissa said she would go to Mickey and get the police involved, but Pete told her that would be a big mistake. Pete told Melissa the Vipers were important to him, and Melissa asked if they were more important to him than she was. Pete said his relationship with the Vipers was different, but he told Melissa that he loved her.

Hope tried to leave, but Bo stopped her. He wanted to know why she wasn’t home with her new husband. Megan excused herself to go to Shenanigans since it was obvious that Bo and Hope had things to talk about. Bo asked Hope how she could do this to him. He asked how she could say she loved him, then write a hate note to him, show up at the hospital to rub it in, and then marry Larry. Bo told Hope he wished he had never laid eyes on her, and a tearful Hope told Bo she wished they had never known each other. Bo told Hope to go home to her husband, and she ran away in tears. Hope went home, and Larry wasn’t there. She started reading, and Larry came home. He said he went for a drive, and Hope said she had been reading. Larry asked if Hope missed him. She said no. Larry said he didn’t miss her much either. The phone rang, and someone informed Larry that Hope was on the boat dock with Bo. Larry said he would take care of it, then confronted Hope. She said she was there with Megan, and Bo happened to show up. Larry warned her not to screw things up. Hope told Larry that they were getting deeper and deeper into this, and someone was eventually going to drown. “I just hope it’s you,” she said, “because you’re the one who deserves it most.”

Some Warriors showed up to talk to Pete and Speed, and Melissa left. She saw Megan at Shenanigans, who apologized again for taking Bo to Hope and Larry’s party. Maxwell showed up and asked to speak to Megan alone. One of the Warriors saw Melissa and expressed an interest in her. Later, Melissa thought she was being followed and ran to find Pete. He didn’t see anyone. Speed wanted Melissa to get lost, and Pete asked her to stay away for her own safety. Melissa wanted Pete to choose her over the Vipers, and they kissed. Melissa left before the Warriors arrived again. They showed Pete and Speed a map and suggested that they were ready to fight for some more turf. Melissa went to see Hope and told her she was worried about Pete and his involvement with the gangs. Hope worried that Melissa could get hurt and asked her to promise to stay away from the Vipers.

The Warriors called the Vipers a bunch of kids, and the leader said they were going to have whatever they wanted. He said they wanted the turf marked on the map, the Vipers’ hangout . . . and Melissa. Pete tried to fight the guy, but the fight was broken up. Speed tried to talk to Pete, but he said he had to go find Melissa.

Melissa went to the cabin and fantasized about Pete showing up and telling her that he loved her. While Melissa was enjoying the peace and quiet of the cabin, one of the Warriors showed up and tried to attack her. Melissa was screaming when Pete arrived and got into a fight with the Warrior. The Warrior pulled a knife and almost stabbed Pete, but told him to prepare for the upcoming gang fight. Melissa worried that Pete was going to get hurt. Later, at Shenanigans, Mickey saw the Warrior and told Diane he wasn’t impressed with the new kind of clientele Chris was getting. The Warrior got in Pete’s face, and Pete warned him to stay off his turf and leave Melissa alone. Mickey walked up and asked what they were saying about his daughter. The Warrior walked away, and Pete lied that the Warrior was just harassing him because the guy thought Melissa was cute. Pete told Mickey he would like to sit down with him and have a conversation about gangs sometime. Mickey suggested right now, but Pete had to ask for a rain check because he had to go back to work.

Hope returned home and looked at a photo of her and Larry. Hope had flashbacks of being kidnapped from the wedding and then reuniting with Bo. Hope wondered aloud what she had done to the two of them. Bo arrived on the pier as a jealous boyfriend, Mark, was arguing with his girlfriend about a guy he saw her with the night before. When Mark saw Bo, he punched him in the face. Bo was ready for a fight when Roman showed up, flashed his badge, and sent Mark and his girlfriend on their way. Roman told Bo it was time for them to talk, because Roman was worried about his little brother. Melissa showed up at Hope’s apartment, but Hope had forgotten that Melissa was going to help her write thank-you notes for the wedding gifts. Hope burst into tears, and Melissa asked Hope to tell her what was wrong. Hope considered telling Melissa the truth, but lied that she was overwhelmed with being a housewife. Melissa hesitantly accepted Hope’s explanation and offered to help clean up the apartment. Bo told Roman about all the women he partied with the night before, and Roman worried that Bo was headed down a self-destructive path. Roman admitted to Bo that he was disguised as a bag lady when he overheard Bo telling Alice how much he cared for his older brother. Roman was touched by Bo’s love and wanted to return the favor. Roman told Bo that he himself went through a rocky time when he thought Marlena had been murdered by the Salem Strangler. He said he felt like shutting the door on the world at that time.

Roman told Bo he was wrong to shut people out of his life, and Bo would be wrong to do the same. Roman told Bo that he loved him and would always be there if Bo needed to talk. Bo told Roman that he didn’t want to talk right now, but he put out his hand and they shook on it. Roman pulled Bo into a hug. Bo commented on Roman’s promotion to lieutenant, and Roman said Marlena was happy that he now had a desk job. Roman told Bo he heard that Megan was back in town. He asked how Bo felt about that. Bo didn’t want to talk about Megan, but Roman reminded him that it had been five years since their breakup. Bo told Roman he would talk about Megan eventually, but not now. Bo invited Roman to go fishing on the weekend, and Roman said he’d like that. Melissa found Hope’s uniform from Shenanigans, and Hope figured she’d better return it to Chris and Danny. Melissa offered to return it for Hope so she wouldn’t run into Bo. Hope told Melissa she couldn’t hide from Bo for the rest of her life. The two left together. Since Chris and Danny were out, Hope left the uniform with Diane. Melissa found Pete and decided to stay and chat for a bit. As Hope was about to leave, Bo showed up. He greeted “Mrs. Welch,” and the two exchanged greetings. They both lied that things were going well. Hope started to leave, looked back at Bo, and then left. A man arrived and told Bo he had a message for him from Maxwell Hathaway. He said Maxwell wanted to see Bo at his earliest convenience. Pete overheard this and asked Bo if Maxwell Hathaway wasn’t the guy with all the megabucks. Bo said, “Yeah, Pete. That’s the guy with the megabucks. Megan’s pop.”

Melissa asked Pete if Speed knew what happened at the fishing shack. Pete said yes. He admitted to Melissa that there was going to be a showdown between the Vipers and the Warriors; he just didn’t know when or where. Melissa worried that Pete could get hurt. “Not if I make my move first,” he said. Speed and another Viper were making plans to “rumble” with the Warriors; Pete told them he wanted to handle Melissa’s attacker, Rip, by himself. Speed disagreed and said the Vipers stick together. Speed also suggested that Pete would be better off if he just dumped Melissa. Pete and Melissa were talking when Mickey arrived. Melissa was worried that Mickey wanted to harass Pete, but Pete said he invited Mickey for a conversation. Melissa left, and Pete and Mickey took a walk on the pier. Pete explained to Mickey that he was abused by his father, and the Vipers took him in. He said they taught him how to get clothes and food, and how to take care of himself. Mickey suggested they taught him to steal so he would be just another gang member. Pete told Mickey that there were some bad apples, but most of the guys were just scared and trying to stay alive. Mickey asked about the Vipers who hurt people over an insult or a piece of turf. Pete asked Mickey about defending guilty clients. Mickey told Pete that he was starting to understand a little bit better, but that Melissa was still off limits to Pete as long as he was a Viper. However, Mickey said he was beginning to wonder what could happen if Pete were to leave the gang. Melissa met up with Pete later and asked why he was talking to Mickey. Pete told her that he was explaining gangs to Mickey. Pete asked Melissa to make plans with him for the Fourth of July, but she reminded him that they couldn’t see each other. Pete said that never stopped them before. Speed and another Viper showed up and told Pete they had to talk, and he needed to ditch Melissa. Pete asked Melissa to wait for him at Shenanigans and told her he loved her. Pete told Speed that he wanted out of the Vipers. Speed called him a traitor, and the other guy called him a chicken. Speed told him it was too late. The Warriors had declared war, the date was July 4th, and the Vipers were ready. Then Speed revealed some new handguns, “compliments of Carlo Forenza.” Pete was not happy. Meanwhile, Melissa was hiding behind a crate and listening to everything.

Bo and Megan had a conversation about their past relationship. Megan admitted to Bo that her mother lied to him about Megan not wanting to see him anymore, and she also lied to Megan about Bo not wanting to see her. Megan then stunned Bo by announcing that she gave birth to his child. Bo couldn’t believe what he was hearing and got angry at Megan for not telling him. He asked if the child was a boy or a girl, and Megan told Bo that they had a son. She also told Bo that her mother didn’t allow her to keep the baby, and she gave the child up for adoption. Bo was livid and kept asking Megan why she didn’t contact him. She told him that he was already in the Merchant Marines, she couldn’t raise a baby by herself at age 16, and what she did was done out of love. Megan told Bo that if he didn’t believe her, he could ask his brother. Bo was furious to learn that Roman knew about the baby. Megan said she had to turn to someone. Bo said he was sick and tired of Roman interfering in his life, and he took off to face his brother. Megan chased after Bo, who was unable to locate Roman. At the park, she tried to apologize, but then told Bo he was being selfish. She said she didn’t have that option, because she had to do what was best for their child. Bo was shouting at Megan when Maxwell arrived. He asked why Bo was shouting at his daughter, and Megan had a worried look on her face. Later, Maxwell met a business associate at Shenanigans while Megan tried to talk to Bo. She asked if Bo had found Roman, but Bo said Roman was in a meeting and couldn’t be bothered. Bo said Roman had never taken an interest in him and wasn’t expected to start now. Bo was about to head down to his place when Megan shouted at him to stop. She told him they needed to talk some more, so Bo invited her to his basement apartment. “You’ve still got your sights on that kid, don’t you?” asked Maxwell’s associate. “Yes, I certainly do,” said Maxwell. “It’s not going to be easy to persuade him to work for you,” the other man said. “Nothing worth having is easy to get. Bo Brady’s definitely worth having,” Maxwell said. “I just hope Megan’s love for him is strong enough to bring him into my family.” “Your business family or your personal family?” “Why not both?” Megan wanted to talk to Bo about how much Maxwell knew about the baby, but Bo didn’t care to talk about her father. He reminded Megan that their son was now 4 years old, and Bo had never seen him. Megan told Bo she never stopped loving him. Bo didn’t want to talk about that, but he told Megan he was going to find his son, if it took him the rest of his life to do it.

Speed went to Shenanigans and reminded Pete that the “rumble” was still on for the Fourth of July. Pete wanted to avoid a war, but Speed said it was too late. Melissa called and told Pete she knew what was going on. She told him they had to talk and that she was on her way over. Maggie walked in and asked where Melissa was going. Melissa lied to Maggie, and Maggie told Melissa she wasn’t going anywhere. Maggie had overheard the phone conversation, and she was angry that Melissa was lying to her again. Maggie reminded Melissa that she was arrested a week ago because of Pete’s friends. She said that even if Pete wasn’t dangerous, his friends were very dangerous. She also told Melissa that she heard from Mickey that he had suggested to Pete that he drop out of the gang, but Pete wouldn’t do it. Melissa blurted out that Pete loved her. Maggie was surprised to hear that and asked how Melissa felt about Pete. Melissa didn’t want to discuss her relationship with Pete to Maggie. Maggie tried to convince Melissa that she was acting in her best interests, but Melissa told Maggie she had to go and then ran out. She interrupted Pete and Speed at the warehouse and asked to speak to Pete. At the park, she told Pete she was going to call the police and report the gang fight. Pete begged her not to do that. He told her that he wouldn’t get hurt and that he was going to take care of everything. Alice arrived to plan the Fourth of July picnic with Melissa. She was surprised to see Pete there. Pete took off, and Melissa denied that Alice interrupted anything. She asked if there would be fireworks, and Alice said there would be. “If the city doesn’t supply them,” she said, “then the people will.”

Pete showed up at Melissa’s house. He asked her again not to call the police, then told her she needed to pack her bags because he was going to get her out of Salem. Pete told Melissa he had to make sure she was safe until the fight was over. Melissa was arguing with Pete when Maggie and Don arrived. Maggie was upset to see Pete in her house. Pete and Melissa lied about having an argument, and Melissa said Pete was just returning something she dropped at the park. Maggie asked Don to escort Pete to the door, and Don threw Pete out. Melissa got upset at Don and Maggie, started crying, and ran upstairs.

Roman went to Bo’s apartment and told him he heard Bo had been trying to reach him. Bo said he wanted to find out if Roman was as big a traitor as he thought he was. Roman asked what Bo was talking about, and Bo asked why Roman never told him he had a son. Roman was confused but realized Bo had talked to Megan. Roman told Bo that he didn’t tell him about the pregnancy; however, Roman said Megan never gave birth because she lost the baby. Bo called Roman a liar. Roman promised Bo that he would have told him if Megan had given birth to Bo’s baby. Roman said that Bo was in the Merchant Marines, thousands of miles from home, and he decided not to tell him anything after the miscarriage. Bo told Roman that Megan said he had a son, and that somebody had to be lying. Roman told Bo there was only one way to get to the bottom of this, and the brothers took off to find Megan. Roman and Bo went to Shenanigans and pulled Megan away from a meeting with Don. They took her to Bo’s apartment and confronted her. Roman said he found Megan at an abortion clinic. Megan said her mother wanted her to go there, but she couldn’t go through with it. Roman said he promised not to say anything to Bo about the pregnancy. Megan said her mother told her Bo never returned any of her letters and lied to keep them apart; she thought Bo didn’t love her and wouldn’t want the baby. Megan said she feared Roman would tell Bo, so she lied about the miscarriage. She said her mother pressured her to give the baby up for adoption. Roman left, and Bo apologized to Megan. He said she never should have had to go through that by herself. Megan told Bo that it was over, but Bo said it wasn’t over . . . not by a long shot.

Bo told Megan that he wanted to find their little boy. He asked for the attorney’s name, but Megan told Bo the adoption papers were sealed after she signed a paper promising not to look for him. Bo told Megan he never would have abandoned her, but they both agreed that her mother did not like Bo. The two made peace, and Bo offered to buy her ice cream in the park.

Hope and Larry argued about hiring a housekeeper. Hope told Larry she refused to pick up his dirty socks. Hope told Larry she would pay for the maid, but he said money wasn’t the problem. Hope asked why Larry pursued her for the last six months if it wasn’t for her money. Larry told Hope that in spite of all that had happened, he still cared about her. However, he said, a housekeeper couldn’t be trusted to keep her mouth shut when they were sleeping in separate bedrooms and fighting all the time. Larry reminded Hope that Bo could get hurt if she didn’t cooperate. Hope asked if Larry was threatening Bo, but Larry said he didn’t have to; somebody else was already doing it. Hope asked Larry who was behind this, because he had to have some idea. Larry told her he was working on it and hoped to know something by the end of the week. He told Hope to stay off the phone, then left for work. Hope called the maid service and asked for someone to come right over. Alice arrived with an apple pie and asked Hope to walk with her to the park for the July 4th planning-committee meeting. Alice reminded Hope that they were having a costume picnic and a Renaissance Faire. The maid arrived, and Hope asked her to start in the kitchen. Alice told Hope it was understandable that she hired a maid since Larry kept her so busy with social activities. Hope asked Alice to stay for tea or coffee, but Alice needed to go. Hope asked Alice if she had seen Bo and if she knew whether he was okay. Alice put her things down and sat on the couch. “Now, why would a happily married young bride want to know?” she asked. Alice and Hope were having tea, and Alice reminded Hope that she saw Bo at the wedding party. The maid came from upstairs and told Hope she was confused about which was the master bedroom and which was the guest bedroom since there were clothes in both rooms. Hope sent the maid to the bathrooms and kitchen. Alice asked if Hope had had houseguests so soon. Hope told Alice that she and Larry had had a little fight. “So soon?” Alice asked. Larry arrived home and was surprised to see the maid. Alice went to the park, and Hope promised to meet her there. Larry wrote a check to the maid and then fired her. Hope told Larry that she would have a housekeeper one way or another. Hope met Alice at the park, and they saw Bo and Megan walk by; they were laughing and eating ice cream together. The four people exchanged greetings, and Bo said hello to “Mrs. Welch.” Alice invited Bo and Megan to the Renaissance Faire picnic, and Bo asked if there would be a kissing booth this year. Hope and Bo exchanged dirty looks, as they both understood Bo’s reference to their first kiss. Alice told Bo there wouldn’t be a kissing booth, and Bo said it was just as well.

The Salemites began to gather at the Fourth of July Reinaissance Faire. Danny chatted with Don and Maggie, Bo and Megan arrived together, and Mickey and Marie were there, too. Alice was surprised that Larry would not be attending and she asked Hope if she was ready to talk about the other day. Hope made an excuse for her emotional behavior and told Alice she was okay. Alice told Hope that she could always talk to her. Tom and Melissa were seen at the festivities, too. During a group dance, Bo and Hope ended up together for a brief moment. Bo teased Marie about her lack of relationship with Howie but wondered where his old friend was. Meanwhile, Howie greeted a grumpy woman at the airport and worried that she wouldn’t look good enough at the picnic. The woman got sarcastic with him and called him Howard, but Howie told her not to call him that. Bo told Megan that Howie would help them find their son. Megan told Bo that she gave birth in France, but that their son was adopted by an American couple. Pete found Melissa and motioned for her to go with him.

Mickey asked Melissa to watch the fireworks with him. Howie tried to impress his friends with his date, but when he talked about her career as an exotic dancer, she got upset and revealed that she was only a third-grade teacher . . . and Howie’s sister! Marie got a laugh out of that, but she removed Howie’s arm from around her shoulder during the fireworks. Bo and Megan enjoyed the fireworks while Hope watched them from a distance.

Melissa was unable to convince Pete to let her contact the police about the gang fight. However, she did persuade him to try to get both sides to call it off. Pete met with Speed, a Viper, and some Warriors. He suggested calling it off and said he didn’t want to violate his probation. The Warriors called Pete a chicken and started harassing him. Speed vowed to kill any Warrior who came after his turf. When the harassment of Pete continued, Pete vowed that the war was on. Tess found Pete and said goodbye, because she was going back to California. Pete met up with Melissa again and told her he had to do this. He kissed her and left. During the fireworks, Melissa couldn’t keep the secret any longer. She told Mickey about the fight and that guns were involved. Mickey told Melissa he was going to find the police, and to stay there.

Mickey told Don about the gang fight and asked him to call the police. Mickey then took off toward the alley behind Shenanigans. Melissa and Maggie were waiting around and wondering about Pete, then convinced Bo to take them to Shenanigans. Speed made sure his people were wearing gloves so no fingerprints could be traced from the guns. Pete refused to accept a gun but said he wouldn’t desert the Vipers. The fog was thick as the Vipers took their positions. Gunfire erupted, and Speed was shot. He told Pete to take his gun and fight the Warriors for him. Pete didn’t want to do it but grabbed the gun when the Warriors started taunting him. Pete aimed his gun at someone in the fog just as Melissa arrived. Pete fired the gun, and Melissa started screaming.

Pete was stunned when he realized he shot Mickey. He threw down his gun, Melissa went to Mickey, and Pete went to Speed. Maggie arrived and told Melissa to call an ambulance. Pete cradled Speed as he cried over what had happened to his friend and what he had done. Melissa ran into Shenanigans and asked Joey to call an ambulance. Abe was there, and Melissa told him what happened. Abe took off, and Don arrived. Melissa told Don the news, and he and Melissa went to be with Mickey. Abe wondered where the gang members got their guns. Lacy showed up in a fancy dress and heels, but she told Abe she could be his backup. Maggie went to ride with Mickey in the ambulance, and Don said he would take Melissa to the hospital. Pete told Melissa he had to talk to her, but Lacy said she was arresting him and taking him down to the police station. Neil told Maggie, Don, Melissa, Tom, Marie, and Howie that Mickey was shot in the stomach and was being prepped for surgery. Melissa blamed herself for asking Mickey to stop the gang fight. The Vipers and Warriors got rowdy at the police station, and Abe told them all to shut up. Larry arrived and warned the gang members that Murder 1 is a heavy rap. He said he especially would like to see Pete behind bars. Pete told Abe he had to talk to Melissa, but Abe told him he needed to contact his lawyer instead because he was in serious trouble. Maggie asked Don how Melissa could have anything to do with Pete and blamed him for hurting Mickey. Don suggested that Maggie shouldn’t be blaming anyone yet and told her that Melissa said Pete wanted to stop the fight. Maggie told Don that Mickey had been through enough already, but Don believed Mickey would survive. Howie went out for coffee, and Marie stayed with Maggie. Don checked on Melissa and told her he would go to the police station and try to help Pete. Melissa realized that Pete was in a lot of trouble. Don said Chris needed to be notified since he was Pete’s guardian.

Maggie told Melissa she should go home, but Melissa said she had to see Mickey first. Tom told Maggie that Mickey was shot in an area that involves several vital organs. Marie said Alice was in the chapel, and Tom went to join her. Marie offered to drive Melissa home, but she refused to leave. Melissa told Maggie she was sorry this had to happen. “Did it, Melissa? Did it have to happen?” Maggie asked. Melissa cried and said it was her fault for asking Mickey to stop the fight. Maggie told Melissa she didn’t blame her, but she asked if Melissa saw who shot Mickey. Melissa said it was too dark and foggy. Tess and Chris went to the hospital, and Tess went to see Melissa. Melissa asked about Pete, and Tess said he had to spend the night in jail. Tess said that Pete was worried about Melissa and was sorry. Melissa said she didn’t blame Pete for what happened. Neil announced that Mickey was in recovery and likely would recover. Maggie tried again to get Melissa to go home, but she said she couldn’t leave until she saw Mickey. Later, as Mickey lay in recovery, Melissa sat by his bedside and cried. She said she was sorry and never meant for this to happen. She said she regretted ever telling him about the fight, and she said she knew Pete didn’t mean to shoot Mickey. “I know he shot you, but it was an accident, Dad. I know it was.” Melissa begged Mickey to get better. In his jail cell, Pete bawled like a baby saying, “Melissa . . . Melissa . . . I’m sorry.”

Hope went to the hospital to see her family. Melissa told her that Mickey wasn’t doing any better, and she worried that he might die. Hope told Melissa that she couldn’t blame herself, but Melissa said it might as well have been her finger on the trigger. Hope asked Melissa if she knew who did the shooting. Abe took Pete to his office to meet with his probation officer, but Lacy said the P.O. was detained in court. Abe left Pete with Lacy, and he tried to escape. She elbowed him in the back of the neck and knocked him down, telling him not to move a muscle. Abe told Pete that he put himself in more trouble, because he was now looking even guiltier than before. Melissa told Hope she didn’t deserve sympathy since she was the one who told Mickey about the fight and asked him to stop it. She said she did it to save Pete. Alice arrived and wanted to take her granddaughters for some fresh air. Melissa said she had something she had to do, by herself. Hope wanted to go after her, but Alice stopped her. Maggie came out and hugged Alice. She said she stayed in Mickey’s room all night. Alice said Maggie needed rest, but Maggie said she needed a miracle. Hope asked if she could do anything. Maggie replied, “You could find out who did this terrible thing. Ask Pete Jannings. I think that’s a good place to start.” Later, Maggie and Alice were sitting with Mickey when Tom arrived. He asked Mickey to open his eyes, then led the others in the Lord’s Prayer. Melissa went to the hospital chapel and prayed for God to let Mickey live. Then she prayed for Pete. Melissa broke down as Bo arrived. He told her everything was going to be okay and hugged her. Melissa feared Mickey would die, but Bo told her that wouldn’t happen. Hope walked in, but stayed in the back of the chapel as she watched Bo comfort Melissa. Bo asked Melissa if she saw anything when Mickey was shot, but she said it was too dark. Bo told Melissa that he would be there for her if she ever wanted to talk about anything. Melissa thanked him for caring but said she had a lot of things to do, then left. Bo and Hope came face to face with each other.

Mickey was still unconscious as he muttered “get away . . . Melissa . . . the Vipers.” Tom told Maggie it was momentary and didn’t mean Mickey was waking up. Tom was going to go out for some air and saw Tess. She said she wanted to see Maggie, and she told her she was sorry about what happened. Maggie told Tess it wasn’t her fault, because she couldn’t control her brother. Tess said Pete was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Maggie reminded her that Pete was in custody. Tess said Pete was innocent, and Tom agreed to control his feelings until Pete’s guilt was proven. Tess told Tom and Maggie that word was that Melissa was the one who told Mickey about the gang fight. She said Melissa and Mickey shouldn’t have stuck their noses in the situation. “Street life is not for your kind of people, you know?” she said. “It’s for people like Pete and me. Don’t get your hands dirty.” With that, she left. Melissa went to the police station to see Pete, but Abe told her she couldn’t see him. Melissa opened the door and called for Pete. Lacy had to hold Pete back, and Abe had to hold Melissa back. Melissa tried to tell Pete she had to talk to him. Abe told Melissa that she might be able to see him later in the day. Melissa asked how much trouble Pete was in, and Abe suggested that Melissa might be able to answer that question. Melissa dodged any questions about the shooting and told Abe she would be back later to see Pete. Later, Tess visited Pete in his jail cell. He was surprised to see her, and she announced that she changed her mind about moving to California. Pete suggested that Tess should get close to Chris and get rid of the name Jannings. Pete told Tess that he was nothing but trouble and said she should just focus on herself. He started yelling at her to get out of there. Tess didn’t want to leave, and Pete started tearing up his cell. Officers arrived to calm him down, and Tess had to leave. Later, Melissa went to see Pete. He told her Mickey would be okay. Melissa told Pete she saw what happened and knew it was an accident. Pete worried about Mickey, who also saw what happened. Pete told Melissa that he had a record and that no one would believe him. Melissa said no one could make her testify against him, but Pete said someone else would. Pete asked Melissa to tell the police what happened. Abe asked if everything was okay. Pete told Melissa that he loved her and then told Abe that Melissa had something to tell him. Melissa didn’t want to say anything, and Pete yelled, “Tell him!”

Hope said hi to Bo, and he told “Mrs. Welch” he was sorry about what happened. She told him to just call her Hope, then almost fainted. Bo caught her and asked if she was okay. She said she was just dizzy and had been under a lot of strain. Hope told Bo it was nice for him to check on Melissa, and Bo said he cared about Melissa. Bo told Hope that he saw Larry, and the two of them almost had a fight until Danny stopped it. “Oh, good,” said Hope. “I wouldn’t want you . . . I mean, I wouldn’t want either of you to get hurt.” Bo told Hope he wanted to thank her for dropping the kidnapping charges. Hope told him he didn’t need to thank her. Bo said he was grateful, whatever the reason, and Hope said she didn’t want gratitude from him. “Don’t look at me like that,” said Hope. “How should I look at you?” asked Bo. Alice arrived, and Bo said he had to leave. He told Hope he also wanted to thank her for something else. When she went to the hospital to tell him goodbye, there was something she didn’t say. “You never told me that you loved Welch,” Bo said. Hope said he was right, that she didn’t. “That’s probably changed by now,” Bo said. Hope didn’t respond, and Bo started to leave. Alice told Bo she was surprised to see him there. “No, you’re surprised to see me here with her,” he said. Bo told Alice to take care of herself and Hope, then left. One of Larry’s contacts arrived to take him to the man who set up his marriage, his townhouse, and the wedding reception. The man asked where the bride was, and Larry said she was staying with Alice. He said he actually was enjoying the night off, and the man told him he was far from being rid of Mrs. Welch. The phone rang, and Larry was told the car was ready. The two headed out. Tom, Alice, and Hope had dinner at Shenanigans, but they could only think of Mickey in the hospital. Hope wanted to go back to the hospital, but Tom told them both to go home. Bo arrived, and Tom asked Bo to take Alice home. Tom said he was going to sleep at the hospital. Bo went to make a phone call. Danny asked Diane if she was catching the looks between Bo and Hope. “Hope’s supposed to be the ecstatic young bride,” said Danny, “and yet she can’t take her eyes off of Bo.” He said the looks between them were “burning the room up.” Alice told Hope that after Mickey recovered, she and Hope were going to have a talk about her marriage. Hope denied that there was anything to talk about. “Now, don’t try that with me, young lady,” said Alice. “I have known you all your life, and I know when something is wrong.” She told Hope, “There is no problem in life that doesn’t have a solution.” The chauffeur, London, drove Larry and his contact to see the man behind everything. Larry was stunned to see Maxwell Hathaway, who told him that he enjoyed having a politician in his pocket. Larry asked what was in it for Maxwell besides politics. “A personal matter,” he said. Larry asked if he would ever be privy to it. “In due time,” said Maxwell, but hinted that Hope was a central character in his scheme. Maxwell told Larry that his political career was assured as long as he did what he was told. Maxwell asked London to drive them to Gwen’s place.

Hope went home and said to herself that she had to find out who was responsible for forcing her into marrying Larry. She went upstairs, and Larry and London returned. Larry poured London a drink, and London said he would be pouring the drinks from now on. He said he had been ordered to act as the Welches’ butler, although his real job was to make sure Hope did as she was told. Larry told him he would be very busy. London said Hope didn’t need to know his real job. London said that Larry had to make the marriage work. Larry asked if he would ever be able to get a divorce. London said that might be permitted, but only after he got to the governor’s mansion. Hope eavesdropped from upstairs as London told Larry there was one more detail. “You’re to get your wife pregnant,” London said. “Mrs. Welch is to have your child.”

Pete expected Melissa to turn him in to Abe, but Melissa lied that it was too foggy and she didn’t see who shot Mickey. Pete and Melissa held hands, and he told her to take care of herself. Pete realized that he really was in love with Melissa. Hope and Melissa met up at Shenanigans, and Melissa refused to let Hope blame Pete for Mickey’s situation. Melissa asked Hope what a person should do when they’re in a tough dilemma that could involve hurting someone that person cares about. Pete had a nightmare in which Abe was questioning him, Don was trying to help him, and Melissa confessed that Pete shot and killed Mickey. Pete was screaming for Melissa when he woke up in his jail cell. Don saw Abe and Lacey at Shenanigans. Abe told him that he thought Pete and Melissa were keeping something from him about the shooting. He also told Don that the police found the gun used to shoot Mickey, but there were no prints on it. Abe said he had no idea yet where the gun came from. Don told Abe that he had some news, too. He said he talked to Tom and was told that Mickey was slowly regaining consciousness. However, Mickey wasn’t asking to speak with Melissa, Maggie, or any of the Hortons. He wanted to talk to Pete. Melissa hung up the phone and told Hope that Maggie said Mickey wanted to see Pete. She told Hope that she couldn’t let that happen. Hope reminded Melissa that Pete was in jail, but Melissa said Mickey couldn’t talk to Pete even if he wasn’t in jail. Hope told Melissa that she looked frightened, and Melissa agreed that she was.

London told Larry that he was expected to get Hope pregnant. Larry objected, explaining to London that that was impossible. London told him that he was expected to try, because political candidates with families were always more appealing to the public. Hope went downstairs and asked who London was. When he was introduced as the new butler, Hope gave Larry a dirty look and asked what happened to the housekeeper they couldn’t afford. The men assured Hope that London would be taking care of all the cooking, cleaning, and planning the social calendar. London left, and Larry asked Hope to try to make the situation a little more pleasant. Hope was not pleased when she learned that London would be moving in with them. Abe dropped off Melissa to see Hope, and Larry went out for a bite to eat. Hope told Melissa she was taking her to Shenanigans, but she was startled when she opened the door and London was standing there. She introduced him to her cousin and told him that they were going to Shenanigans. London said he would put his things away and then drive them. “No, you’re not,” Hope said. London realized Hope suspected that he was really there to keep an eye on her. When she left, he phoned Maxwell and told him that Hope was on to him. Later, he reminded Larry that he needed to live up to his side of the agreement with Maxwell, and that meant working on his marriage and starting a family with Hope. London gave Larry a bouquet of roses, some champagne, and a gift, and told him to get busy. Larry gave Hope the flowers and tried to talk her into opening the champagne. Hope kept saying no, and Larry was insistent . . . until Melissa walked in wearing a robe. She told Larry she hoped it was okay that Hope asked her to spend the night there, on the couch. Hope whispered to Larry that it would be hard to break her door down with a witness in the house.

Larry talked to Hope about reconciling, but Hope told him not to bother trying to fool her anymore. She told him she knew what he was after and he wasn’t going to get it. She told Larry that it was obvious he had learned the identity of his wealthy backer, but Larry lied that he didn’t know anything. Hope told Larry that threats had been made against her family and Bo, and she said she would follow Larry all the way to the White House if it meant protecting the people she loved. However, she told him to forget ever going to bed with her. Larry kept pushing, and Hope got upset and threw the vase of roses across the room. The doorbell rang, and Hope told Larry she was answering the door. Larry shouted at Hope that they were going to finish their conversation. Alice called out from the other side of the door and asked Hope if anything was wrong. The Welches let Alice into their home, and Larry lied that he was clumsy and crashed into the vase. “Don’t worry, dear,” Alice said to Hope. “You can always buy another vase. True love is the only thing that can’t be replaced.” Alice told Hope and Larry to get ready, because she was going to fix them a big breakfast. Alice was on her way in to the kitchen as London came out. Hope explained that London was their new butler, and Alice was shocked. She said no Horton had ever had a butler before. Hope introduced the two, and Alice agreed to join them for breakfast. Alice was surprised when London served a breakfast of kippers, eggs, and tomatoes. Alice told them that she preferred her breakfast of pancakes, waffles, sausage, and chocolate doughnuts. “Chocolate doughnuts?” snarled London. “Homemade,” said Alice. “Madam,” said London, “this is an English breakfast.” London left the room, and Alice remarked, “Now we know why England lost her empire.” Alice asked Hope if she could help with some volunteer work at the hospital, and Hope agreed. Alice left, and Larry reminded Hope that he wanted to see her for lunch and he wanted her home by 6:00. Hope told Larry to stay away from her, and she reminded him that rape was against the law. Larry told Hope that he wasn’t going to rape her, but that she would be coming to him in the middle of the night one night when she needed a man. Hope told Larry that she loved Bo and that he was the only one she would ever want to be with. Larry turned away from Hope, and she smiled as she said, “No one will ever make me feel the way he did . . . that night.” Larry asked Hope what she was talking about. Hope told Larry that she and Bo made love the night she was taken from the church, and then she told Larry that she was pregnant with Bo’s baby. Larry laughed out loud and told her this was perfect. He asked if Bo knew, but Hope said it would be too dangerous to tell him. Larry asked if Doug and Julie knew, and Hope said she hadn’t been able to reach them. He asked if anyone else knew, and Hope said not yet. Larry began to doubt Hope, but she told him she wouldn’t be able to hide a pregnancy for long and that there would be records at the hospital. Hope left and breathed a sigh of relief that Larry bought her story. Hope went to the hospital to volunteer with Alice. She was relieved to see that an obstetrician was away on vacation. Hope went to deliver some files and sneaked into the doctor’s office. She found the doctor’s file on Marlena and started copying some of Marlena’s information onto her own file. Hope was about finished when the door opened. She jumped up and stood in front of the desk with the papers. Alice was standing there. “Hope,” she asked, “what in heaven’s name are you doing?”

Melissa went to visit Mickey in the hospital. He sensed that something was wrong, and Melissa told him there was something she had to tell him. She said she just hoped it wouldn’t upset him too much and that he could forgive her. In talking with Mickey, Melissa realized that her father already knew that Pete was the one who shot him. Melissa told Mickey that Pete was a good person and didn’t mean to shoot him. She told Mickey that she loved Pete and that if Mickey would refuse to testify against Pete, she would promise never to see him again. Mickey was surprised by Melissa’s request, but she told him that she would be willing to let Pete go in order to see that he had a chance at a good life so that he could prove himself to everyone.

London told Larry that he had learned of Hope’s pregnancy, and he suggested that Larry should verify her story with her doctor. Larry said he would, and London told him there was no time like the present. Larry headed to the hospital. Alice caught Hope in the obstetrician’s office and asked why she was there. Hope said she just wanted to help with filing while the doctor was away. Alice asked Hope if she was lying to her. Hope told Alice she had an appointment at the university and would understand if Alice didn’t want her to volunteer anymore. Hope rushed out, and Alice found Hope’s medical file sticking out of the filing-cabinet drawer. She opened it and was stunned to read that Hope was pregnant. Megan and Bo were having a conversation in the park. She told him that she found a gallery for the art exhibit; Alex Marshall told her about it. Megan was leaving as Hope walked by. Megan greeted Hope, then left the park. Bo said hello to “Mrs. Welch,” then asked if she had been crying. Larry went to Hope’s doctor’s office and told a nurse that he needed to speak with the doctor. She told him the doctor was away on vacation, and Larry planned to take a peek at Hope’s file. The nurse told him she couldn’t let him do that, and he told her he was the district attorney. The nurse said she was aware of who he was, but he still couldn’t look at confidential patient records. Larry started to threaten the nurse when Tom walked in and asked Larry what was going on. Larry apologized for his behavior but said he was anxious to talk to the doctor about Hope. Tom asked if Larry was interested in the pregnancy, and Larry was surprised that Tom knew about it. Tom said he had spoken to Alice, who was in the room with Hope and saw Hope’s file. Larry was happy to hear that Alice had actually seen the file confirming the pregnancy. Tom told Larry that women sometimes get emotional and overreact when pregnant, and he told Larry that Hope would need a lot of love and patience. Larry told Tom he intended to make Hope’s pregnancy the happiest experience of her life. Megan told Maxwell that she found a location for the art exhibit he wanted, and she told him she was also interested in investing some capital in a new dress designer, Anna DiMera. Maxwell suggested he might be interested in “investing” in Anna as well. Megan told Max that she was unhappy that Hope seemed to show up all the time. Maxwell told Megan that Hope was pregnant and expecting Larry’s child. Megan was happy to hear it and planned to stay in the driver’s seat where Bo was concerned. Bo asked Hope why she had been crying; she lied that she had something in her eye. Bo had a handkerchief and offered to help her with her eye when Larry arrived and told Bo to stay away from his wife. Bo suggested that Larry might want to take better care of his “weepy wife,” then rode off on his motorcycle. Larry asked if Hope told Bo about the baby, but she replied that she wasn’t stupid. Larry said he talked to Tom, who indicated Hope could even have twins. Hope said it made her sick that people would think she and Larry had slept together. Hope started to leave, and Larry reminded her that she was supposed to kiss him in public. Hope said that was fine, as long as she could continue to loathe him in private.

Alice went to Hope’s house with stuffed animals for the baby. She told Hope that she would be there for her and suggested they start talking about a shower. Hope didn’t seem ready to talk about the shower, and Alice said they could talk about something else if Hope wanted. Hope said she would be happy to talk about the shower. London met with Larry and told him that things were going smoothly with the Welches. Maxwell said things were going well on his end, too; he received the call that morning, and the shipment he expected would be arriving that night. He told London that Harold Dailey in the Customs office was performing admirably and there shouldn’t be any trouble. London told Maxwell that he believed Hope was really pregnant and said she moped around the house all day. He asked how long he would have to play nursemaid to Mrs. Welch. “As long as it takes Bo Brady to get back with Megan,” Maxwell said. Alice encouraged Hope to have a shower soon so she could announce the pregnancy. She told her that she had a nice christening gown for a little girl and some cute clothes that Scotty had worn. She told Hope that she worried about her relationship with Larry, but she believed Hope could work things out and be happy. Hope became tearful and blurted out that she wasn’t pregnant. Alice reminded Hope that she saw the hospital records. Hope told Alice she forged them. “I can’t be pregnant! I’m a virgin! I don’t love Larry! Grandma, I married the man that I hate!” Alice was stunned, but Hope tried to backtrack and said she didn’t know why she said all those things. She pretended that she was just emotional, but Alice wanted answers. Hope confessed to Alice that she never loved Larry; she only loved Bo. However, some men kidnapped her, beat up Bo, threatened Alice’s life, and forced her to marry Larry. Alice was in shock but told Hope they had to go to the authorities. Hope told Alice they couldn’t; it was too dangerous. She told Alice that London was not a real butler but was there to keep an eye on her; she said she overheard him ordering Larry to get her pregnant, so she lied to Larry that she was pregnant with Bo’s baby. Hope cried and apologized to Alice for involving her, but Alice said she was glad she did and she intended to do something about it. Larry saw Megan at the Park Café, and she congratulated him on Hope’s pregnancy. Larry asked Megan if she had mentioned the pregnancy to Bo, and she said no. Larry offered Megan a piece of advice – not to trust Bo.

Alice told Hope she wanted to go the authorities. She told her that they could trust Roman and Abe. Hope agreed that they were trustworthy, but she was too afraid that Bo could be hurt. Alice wanted Hope to move in with her and Tom, but Hope said the men would only force her back to Larry and could hurt Alice. Hope told Alice that Larry was as miserable as she was, but was content staying married to her to help his political career. Hope said that lying to Larry about being pregnant with Bo’s baby was the happiest she had been in some time. Larry arrived, and Alice congratulated him. She said she would be throwing a shower for Hope, then told Hope not to worry about anything because she was going to help her. Alice left, and Larry asked Hope what she said to Alice. Hope denied telling Alice anything. Larry told Hope that Alice was a sweet woman, and it would be a shame if something terrible happened to her. Outside, Alice tried to figure out what to do. She decided that Bo had to know the truth.

Bo & Alice – 7/12/84
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6LHfOy2mY8

Alice was meeting with Blanche Dailey at the Park Café when Bo showed up. He told Alice he got a message that she wanted to talk to him about Hope. Alice told Bo that they would talk later. Harold arrived and was very short with Blanche. Bo commented that the man was certainly on edge about something. Blanche said she knew something was happening at the Customs office. She said she heard him screaming at someone on the phone and saying something about the “Altoona exercise.” She gave Bo a piece of paper with that message on it. Bo told Alice he saw Marie, who seemed to know a secret about something. Alice told Bo that she had news about Hope but that they would talk later. Later, Bo saw Marie in the park and wanted answers if something was wrong with Hope. Marie sat Bo down and broke the news to him that Hope was pregnant. She suggested that this might make it easier for Bo to forget about Hope, but Bo said he had already forgotten about her. Marie left, and Megan arrived. Bo told her he wanted to party with her and said, “Welcome home, Megan.” Bo took Megan to the Cheatin’ Heart, and the bartender told him he had a phone call. Bo answered the phone, and it was Alice. Bo told her not to take offense, but he didn’t want to talk to anyone named Horton at the moment. Alice told Bo to meet her at the lodge at 6:00 sharp, and Bo told Alice he wasn’t interested in talking because he was already with a lady. With that, Bo hung up on Alice. “Yes, you will meet me,” she said out loud, “or my name isn’t Alice Horton.” Alice called back. When Bo picked up the phone, Alice told him not to dare hang up on her again. Bo told Alice that he already learned that Hope was pregnant. Alice told Bo that wasn’t everything. Bo said it was enough for him. Alice told Bo that if he ever trusted her, to trust her now. Bo said he did trust her, but . . . . “The lodge,” said Alice. “At 6:00 sharp.” Alice hung up on him. Bo repeated, “If you ever trusted me?” and seemed very confused. Now Alice was on another phone call. “Ah! So you’ll do it, Hope, darling. You’ll meet Grandma at the lodge. And don’t forget – 5:00 sharp. . . . Oh, Hope, darling, since we . . . well, we just have so much to talk about. . . . All right. I’ll see you then.” Alice hung up and smiled as she said to herself, “I think this is going to work beautifully.”

Melissa went to the jail and told Pete that she talked to Mickey and that he knew Pete was the one who shot him. An officer interrupted Melissa and said that her father had called; he wanted to see her right away. Melissa went to the hospital and ran into Hope. She told Hope that she was worried about Pete, who seemed lost and scared. Hope told Melissa that she was pulling for her. Melissa went in to see Mickey, who told her how much he loved her. He asked if she was sure she could stop seeing Pete, and she said she would do anything to protect him. Mickey told her that someone else could testify against Pete, but Melissa was sure that no one else saw anything. Abe arrived to take Mickey’s statement, but Mickey lied that it was too foggy and he didn’t see anyone. Abe left, and Melissa thanked Mickey. She asked if he would allow her to see Pete one last time, to tell him that Mickey wouldn’t testify against him. Mickey agreed. He asked if Melissa would tell Pete about their deal, but she said no. She said she planned to tell Pete that they just couldn’t see each other anymore. Mickey told Melissa that Pete wouldn’t accept it too easily, but Melissa promised she would stick to her word. Meanwhile, Pete demanded that an officer contact Don and tell him to go to the jail right away. Pete was told that Don was on his way, and Pete said he had something important to say to his attorney.

Alice packed two flashlights in her purse, then called Hope to ask her to take a sweater with her for their meeting. Hope reminded Alice that it was warm outside, but Alice told her to just do it. Hope hung up the phone and was about to leave when London walked into the room. Hope told him she was meeting her grandmother, and he said he would drive her. Hope said that wasn’t necessary. As she opened the door to leave, there was a piercing noise as the newly installed security alarm went off. Hope was not happy that an alarm system was installed without her knowledge. London told her that Larry requested it. Hope said it was more to keep her in than to keep other people out. She demanded that London get rid of it, but he told her he wasn’t able to take orders from her that contradicted Larry’s previous instructions. Hope threatened to talk to her grandmother, who would talk to Larry, who would fire him. Melissa called Hope and asked her to meet her right away at the hospital. Hope said she would be there. She tried to call Alice to tell her she would be late, but Alice had already left. London insisted on driving Hope to the hospital. She finally agreed but told him that he was to get lost after dropping her off. Alice was at the lodge and ready for her plan to begin. She tried calling Bo at the Cheatin’ Heart but was told by the bartender that he was just arrested after trying to pick a fight with Abe. Alice then called the police station but was told that Abe was out. Alice gave her name and number, and she asked that Abe call her as soon as possible. Tom arrived and asked Alice what she was doing there. Alice asked how Tom even knew she was there. He said he ran into Marie, who said Alice was meeting Hope there. The only problem was that Tom and Alice were supposed to be having dinner with Harold and Blanche Dailey at the Salem Inn. Alice said she forgot and asked Tom to call them and have them go to the lodge instead. Maxwell arrived and said hello to Tom and Alice before going to his table. Tom accidentally sat on Alice’s purse and asked, “What do you have in there, a machine gun?” Alice was able to reach Abe by car phone. She worried that Bo had been arrested, but Abe said he had decided to go easy on Bo this time. Alice reminded Bo that he was to be on time at their meeting. Bo told her he really didn’t want any more information about Hope, because nothing could change. Alice told Bo that he didn’t understand and needed more information, and she told him that Hope needed him desperately. Bo said he would be there. After hanging up with Alice, Bo was asked by Abe if he was in or out of the deal. Bo, who had apparently staged his fight with Abe, agreed to be in on it and congratulated Abe on his “pretty good left hook.” After contacting the Daileys, Tom wanted to know from Alice what “mischief” she was up to. Maxwell went by Larry’s house and told him he was unhappy that London was not keeping a better eye on Hope; he received word that Hope had seen Bo in the park. Larry told Maxwell that he was there and sent Bo packing. Larry suggested that Hope wasn’t taking this seriously enough and might need to witness another demonstration that their associates mean business. Hope arrived at the lodge, and Alice told her this was a nice surprise. “Surprise?” asked Hope. “Surprise?” asked Tom. Alice asked Tom to excuse them. She took Hope aside and told her just to do whatever she said. The Daileys arrived, and Alice told Hope to wait for her before shoving her behind a door and closing it. Hope was surprised to find herself in the dark wine cellar and was very confused. Tom asked Alice what she was doing. Alice laughed and told Tom she thought that door led to the ladies’ room, but it didn’t. Then she rushed over to greet Blanche and Harold.

Tom suggested that they all have a cocktail before dinner, but Alice said she wanted them to go inside Blondie’s to hear the music. Alice pulled Blanche aside and asked if there was any news. Blanche said Harold had just returned from another mysterious trip to New Orleans and hadn’t slept a wink since he got home. Alice told Blanche that Bo was working on the case and would find out what Harold was up to. Hope was waiting in the dark wine cellar. Alice excused herself to make a phone call, then discreetly sneaked into the wine cellar. Hope told Alice it was creepy down there. Alice manipulated a couple of wine bottles, and the wall rack divided and opened up, allowing access to the infamous underground tunnel. Tom was looking for Alice when Bo arrived at the lodge. He told Tom he needed to speak to Alice, but Tom had no idea where she was. Alice gave Hope a flashlight and led her far back into the tunnel. She told her to stay down there and hide if anyone showed up. Hope asked what was going on, and Alice admitted that she had contacted Bo. Hope told Alice she shouldn’t have done that and then asked what she told him. “Just that you needed him,” Alice said. Hope didn’t believe Bo would show up since he thought she hated him, but Alice was confident that he would be there. Hope asked if Alice thought there were mice in the tunnels, and Alice said there probably were. She encouraged her granddaughter to just put on her sweater and be quiet. When Alice came out, she saw Bo but had to talk to Blanche and Harold, who were on their way out. Harold said he couldn’t stay because he was expecting some important phone calls. He and his wife got into an argument. Tom asked Harold what the big idea was, leaving so soon. Alice discreetly handed Bo a flashlight. She told him to get down to the tunnel. Bo asked her why. “Don’t ask questions,” Alice said. “I’m already in enough trouble as it is already. Hurry.” Bo went into the wine cellar, and Tom caught up with Alice. He wanted answers . . . now. Dave went into the wine cellar to retrieve some bottles, and Bo hid. Larry told Maxwell about the security alarm; he said he had it installed in case any of the Hortons had a key and wanted to pop over unannounced. London called Larry and said he dropped Hope off at the lodge to meet her grandmother. He said he stayed in the parking lot until he saw Bo go inside. He said he now was unable to find either one of them. Larry wanted him to check Doug and Julie’s apartment, but London said he had searched everywhere he could. Larry said he would be on his way over. Maxwell offered to drive Larry. On their way out, they saw Melissa, who was looking for Hope. Larry said Hope was with Alice, but he told her that Maggie had called for her. Larry also mentioned that Pete had been asking for Don and appeared to be ready to make a full confession. Melissa took off, hoping she could stop Pete in time. Tom was ready to grill Alice when Abe walked up and asked if they knew where Bo was. They said no, and Alice tried to get Abe to join them at the table. Abe had to leave and told them that it looked like Pete was going to confess to Don. Abe left, and Alice told Tom that Bo was there to watch Harold. She said Blanche was worried about her husband and had hired Bo as a private investigator to find out what was wrong. Tom asked why, if that was the case, Bo was nowhere to be seen. “Why, darling, said Alice, “he’s hiding!” Dave left the wine cellar, and Bo was able to make it into the tunnel. As Bo was going inside, Hope was getting spooked and decided to leave. She ran into Bo, and the two were surprised to see each other. “Bo?” she said. “Hope? What are you doing down here?” Bo asked.

Pete was ready to confess to Don, but he got cold feet. He suggested writing down what he had to say about “the truth,” but Don refused to let him put anything in writing. Melissa showed up and told Pete her father didn’t remember anything. She told Don that Pete was only trying to stop the fight and shouldn’t have been there. Don and Abe were suspicious. Later, Pete asked Melissa what she had to do to keep Mickey from telling the truth. Melissa got upset and ran away from Pete, but he caught up to her on the pier. Pete told Melissa that he was worthless and not worth saving. Melissa told Pete that he was a good person and that she believed in him, but then she said she wouldn’t be seeing him anymore and that this was goodbye. Pete was stunned and very upset. Melissa started to leave, and Pete stopped her. He told her that he knew she and Mickey must have made a deal. Pete told Melissa he was ready to confess. Melissa begged him not to, warning him that it would destroy any chance of a future together. Pete then told Melissa he was going to confront Mickey. Melissa begged him to stop, but Pete took off.

Bo was confused when he saw Hope in the tunnel. She told him she was surprised, because she didn’t think he’d be there. Bo didn’t understand what was going on, but he told Hope he was disappointed in Mrs. H for dragging a pregnant woman into a damp, cold tunnel. Hope told Bo she wasn’t pregnant and that she was still a virgin. Bo had some questions for Hope, but she got tired of his questions and pulled him into a kiss. Bo told Hope he was very confused. Hope told Bo that she was kidnapped from Maggie’s barn and forced to write the hate letter to him. She told him she also was forced to be harsh with him at the hospital. Bo didn’t want to listen to Hope and said he was getting too many mixed messages from her. Hope asked if Bo wanted to know why she married Larry, and he said yes. She told Bo it was to save his life. Bo started laughing. Hope told him he was as stubborn as a mule and not funny, then knocked him down and started kissing him again. Bo asked Hope who was responsible for all of this, but Hope still didn’t know. She told Bo that Larry received orders to get her pregnant in order to strengthen his political career, but she denied sleeping with Larry. Bo asked how Hope could fool Larry about being pregnant, and she told Bo that she named him as the father. Bo got a laugh out of that. He told Hope that he was going to get her out of this mess so that they could be together, and the first step was to get her out of town. But Hope stopped Bo and told him that she couldn’t go with him. Hope explained to Bo that his life and the lives of other people she cared about would be in danger. She told Bo that they had to find out who was behind all of this, and that she would be safe as long as she pretended to be going along with the plan. Hope also told Bo about London, who was almost like a guard. She assured Bo that she and Larry had separate bedrooms. Alice showed up and told Hope that she had to leave because Larry was upstairs looking for her and getting suspicious. Bo told Alice that Hope wasn’t going anywhere yet and proceeded to kiss her again.

Before going to the tunnel to get Hope, Alice tried to stall Larry. He wanted to know where Hope was, and Alice asked him to get her another sherry. Larry told Maxwell that Alice was “side-stepping” his questions, and Maxwell told him to try again. Alice kept Larry busy talking about the baby. Tom walked up and said he was irritated because Hope had called to say she would be very late; she had decided to visit Melissa instead. Larry saw Gwen arrive and decided to have dinner with her and Max since Hope was going to be late. Tom then told Alice that she knew very well he didn’t get a call from Hope, and he said he wanted to know what was going on. Alice told Tom there was something she had to tell him. After explaining to Tom that she arranged for Bo and Hope to meet down in the tunnel, Alice said there was more to the story and Tom would have to trust her until later. Tom told Alice that he was one step ahead of her; he phoned Hope’s doctor and learned that he knew nothing about Hope being pregnant. Alice told Tom he must never let anyone find that out or there could be unimaginable danger. Tom said that after all they had been through with Stefano DiMera, he could believe that. Alice asked Tom to “hold the fort” while she went down to the tunnel to retrieve Hope. Tom asked if that would be safe, and Alice said yes . . . as long as he didn’t let anyone go into the wine cellar. Tom and Larry were having drinks together when Dave went into the wine cellar. Tom tried to stop him, but he was too late. Bo, Hope, and Alice managed to hide on the other side of the door to the tunnel. Dave thought he heard a noise, but he figured it was a rat. Bo planned to leave the tunnel through the exit in Eugene’s basement, and Hope and Alice went upstairs. Larry and Hope joined Maxwell and Gwen, and Gwen didn’t try hard to hide the fact that she was not happy seeing Larry and Hope together as a married couple. Tom worried about Hope being with Larry, even though he didn’t know any details; Alice promised to give him more information once they got home.

Maxwell was pleased that Gwen would be working for him now, especially with the art exhibit coming up, and made arrangements for her to meet him on a yacht to do some business. Gwen reminded him that she wanted him to sign a contract for her representation, and Max was aware that Gwen wanted only business with him. Larry offered to drive Gwen home, and Maxwell left when they did. Hope told Alice that she had some free time and asked if she had any ideas. “Nothing you haven’t already thought about,” Alice answered. Bo met with Abe and told him that he was turning down the job Abe offered him. Later, Bo and Hope met at a prearranged location on the waterfront. The two made out in Bo’s vehicle and tried to stay down when cars went by. Apparently, Abe had talked Bo out of declining the job. Bo told Hope that he would be dressing, acting, and talking differently, but she was to trust him . . . and to keep on hating him for the public’s sake. A car drove up and parked, and Bo told Hope it was his new boss. “Maxwell Hathaway is your new boss?” Hope asked. She asked if he was working with Max to get closer to Megan, and Bo denied that. Then another car pulled up, and Bo was surprised to see who was meeting Maxwell on the waterfront at night. Bo looked at Hope and said, “It’s your new husband.”

Pete went to the hospital to see Mickey, but a nurse told him it was past visiting hours. The nurse left, and Pete started to go into Mickey’s room. Melissa arrived and stopped him. Pete told her he knew she made a deal with Mickey, and he had to explain everything to Mickey so that he wouldn’t lose a chance at happiness with her. Melissa warned Pete that there would be no chance for him if he went to prison. Pete told Melissa that he had to take that chance and stop hiding behind the Vipers and Chris. He entered Mickey’s room, and Mickey was shocked to see him. Mickey started to press the call button, and Pete told him not to touch it or he would rip it out of the wall. Pete explained to Mickey that he didn’t have a gun and didn’t want to shoot anyone. He said that when Speed got shot, he picked up the gun and worried that he was going to be shot and killed. He said he was scared and never meant to hurt anyone, especially not Mickey. He told Mickey that he knew he and Melissa reached a deal, but he asked Mickey not to do this to them. Mickey told Pete that he did it to himself, and he asked Pete what he would have done if it had been his daughter involved in a situation like this. Pete looked at himself in the mirror and told himself what a loser he was and that he would never amount to anything, that he had just been kidding himself all this time. Mickey disagreed with Pete and told him that he believed that Pete didn’t mean to hurt him. However, Mickey told him that he didn’t want him to hurt Melissa. Pete seemed to be giving up on himself and walked out as Mickey called out to him to stop. Pete told Melissa that she was out of his life and left; Mickey got out of bed and groaned that he was in pain. Melissa called a nurse, who paged Neil to come right away. Mickey was able to calm down and get back in bed. He told Melissa that he wanted Pete to have a chance at a good life, but he refused to allow Melissa to be hurt. Melissa asked why life had to be so complicated, and Mickey said he, too, wished he knew the answer to that.

Mickey tried to make Melissa feel better and told her that she would find someone else. Melissa told Mickey that she would never stop loving Pete. On the pier, Pete remembered happier times with Melissa. He became upset and ripped his diploma to shreds. Melissa found him and told him not to do this to himself. She admitted that she agreed to stop seeing him if Mickey wouldn’t send him to prison with his testimony. Melissa told Pete that she loved him, and he asked how she could do this if she loved him. She told him that it was because she loved him that she was able to do it. The two said goodbye, and Melissa walked away.

Bo told Hope to stay in the vehicle. He went out and approached Larry and gave him a hard time. Larry told him to back off or he would have him taken downtown. Larry warned Bo that he might be a good street fighter, but Larry had enough power to bring Bo to his knees. He also reminded Bo that Hope had made her decision. Bo laughed as Larry walked away. He got back in the car and told Hope they shouldn’t meet in public anymore; it was too dangerous. He also worried about sending her back to Larry’s place, but Hope assured Bo that she would be okay. Bo said he was hoping to have the situation resolved within a couple of weeks. He was driving when Hope suddenly yelled for him to pull over, pull over, pull over. He did, and she started kissing him. Hope asked Bo to make love to her, but he told her that would happen soon enough. He told her she had to go home, but first they had an important stop to make. Bo went to Eugene and asked him to create a tracking device that would be disguised as something else and could also be used for communication. Eugene put together two watches; the alarms would go off when one party needed to reach the other one. Bo gave Hope one of the watches. She said she would tell Larry that it was a gift from Doug. Bo warned her to make sure Eugene didn’t see the watch, so he could be left out of any danger. Bo told Hope he was collecting information and hoped to figure out the pieces soon.

Bo dressed up and went to Blondie’s, where he ran into Roman and Marlena. Roman teased him about his nice clothes, and Bo told Roman to stay out of his business. He announced that he was going to start working for Maxwell and was soon going to be able to buy a name for himself in Salem. Roman advised against that, but Bo again told him to butt out of his life. Bo went to Maxwell’s table, and Roman noticed that Maxwell was dining with Abe and his “date,” Irene from the police department. Roman told Marlena he wanted to stick around and observe what was going on, and she agreed. Bo told Maxwell he had decided to take the job. Maxwell was surprised but pleased. He told Bo that his art exhibit was coming up and he would have some very valuable pieces on display. Bo wanted to negotiate his salary, so the two stepped aside. Hope met Larry for dinner, and Eugene approached their table. He said he found a book on witchcraft and was trying to find out who it belonged to. They didn’t know, and Eugene took back the book. He began to feel his vibes as a certain someone (Calliope Jones) walked around, looking for something. Abe congratulated Bo on a job well done and said he believed all of the pieces were pointing back to Maxwell Hathaway. Secretly, Bo also was beginning to suspect Maxwell might be involved in forcing Hope to marry Larry. Later, Hope contacted Bo via their walkie-talkie watches. Bo reminded her that the watches were only for emergencies, and she told him this was an emergency – she had to tell him how much she loved him. Larry started knocking on her door and telling her to open up. Bo told Hope not to do it, and Hope told Bo she had to go. The conversation ended, and Bo worried about what was going on in the Welch house.

Pete told a fellow Viper that he was going to hang out at the fishing shack for a while before hitting the streets. He told him not to tell anyone, and especially not Melissa. At home, Melissa dreamed of dancing with Pete when Maggie showed up and jerked her away from him. Melissa woke up screaming and calling out for Pete. She opened her bedroom door, and Hope was there asking what was wrong. Melissa told her she had a bad dream. Hope congratulated Melissa on Pete’s release from jail. Melissa told Hope that she and Pete had stopped seeing each other, because he wasn’t right for her. Hope realized that this wasn’t Melissa’s idea and said it was obvious that Melissa still loved Pete. Melissa wanted to know if Hope was truly over Bo, but Hope avoided the topic. Hope looked outside and thought she saw someone in the bushes, but Melissa assured her that it was a neighbor. Melissa told Hope that she heard she was pregnant and was hurt that she didn’t tell her about the baby. Hope explained that Melissa was too concerned about Mickey and Pete. Melissa was surprised that Hope wanted to start a family so soon and asked what it felt like to be pregnant. Hope brushed her off, and Maggie arrived. She told Melissa that she didn’t want her to be bored all summer and that she should find something to do. Melissa said that nothing mattered anymore, then left. She arrived at the fishing shack and was surprised to see Pete there. The two engaged in small talk, and Pete asked Melissa to stay and spend some time with him. Maggie called Chris to see if he had seen Melissa. She was told that Melissa could have been at the fishing shack. Maggie grabbed her stuff and left.

Melissa and Pete continued talking, and he told her that Speed was recovering. Pete told Melissa that he couldn’t stand not seeing her; he said Chris probably thought he was a hopeless case. Maggie showed up and called out to Melissa, but the two hid. Maggie went inside but left when she didn’t see anyone. It started to rain, and Melissa told Pete she should leave since she had a home to go to. Pete wanted to go and let her stay, but Melissa told him she wouldn’t stay there by herself anyway. Melissa left, then rushed back in and hugged a happy Pete. She told him that she couldn’t leave him. Pete asked Melissa how he was going to make it without her. Melissa told Pete that no one knew where they were, and then she told him that she loved him. The two began to kiss.

Nick was at Shenanigans, and Diane told him to forget about trying to make her work for him again. Nick told Diane to take a break and leave the room, so she did. Larry and Maxwell finished a meeting, and Maxwell left. Nick sat down at Larry’s table and told him that he wanted money . . . to keep his mouth shut. Larry didn’t understand, and Nick told him that he had been tailing him since he left Las Vegas. Larry reminded Nick that he was a district attorney and could press charges against him for blackmail. Nick said he didn’t think Larry would want to go public with what Nick knew. He mentioned Larry’s first wife, who was hit by a car and died in Larry’s arms, and he suggested there was more to the story. He said he also knew about other bad activities in Larry’s past. Larry asked how much he wanted, and he said $5,000. Larry asked how he was to reach him, but Nick told him not to worry about that; he would find Larry. Nick left, and Larry went to make a phone call.

Melissa suggested to Pete that they run away together, move far away from Salem, and get jobs. Pete was touched by the idea, but he told Melissa that she deserved better and shouldn’t have to live on the run. Melissa told Pete that she had to be with him, and Pete told her they would think of something.

Bo and Hope were in separate vehicles, with about two blocks in between them. They communicated via Eugene’s walkie-talkie watches and were planning to meet when Hope spotted someone tailing Bo. She warned him, but she couldn’t see who it was because of the heavy rain. Bo told her they should wait, run errands, and “accidentally” run into each other later at Shenanigans. Bo arrived at Shenanigans and saw Megan, who had been meeting with Larry. Megan said she remembered something about their little boy. She said she never met the adoptive parents but heard their voices, and they had distinct Southern accents. Bo remarked that that wasn’t much information to go on, but she reminded him that it was something since the baby wasn’t even born in the United States. Hope arrived and was not happy to see Megan. Larry invited Hope to join them, and Megan invited Bo to join them as well. Tom and Alice were waiting in Marlena’s office while discussing Hope’s dilemma. Alice had told Tom everything, and he was concerned about waiting and not contacting the authorities. Alice told Tom that she trusted Bo. Tom told Alice that he would never forgive himself if anything happened to Hope, and Alice said she believed everything ws going to be fine. Marlena arrived, surprised to see the Hortons in her office, and Alice said she promised to give Roman a message from Caroline – his sister, Kimberly, had been trying to reach him. Marlena said Roman knew that and had tried to reach his sister, but she had checked out of her hotel before Roman could call her. Alice suggested that Caroline was concerned; Marlena said Roman was not worried, but she would tell him to try Kimberly again. Diane arrived to see Marlena, and Tom and Alice left. At Shenanigans, Megan told Bo that Maxwell would be pricing the new crystal sculpture at the art gallery. Larry said he’d heard about the sculpture and how there was not another one like it in the world. Larry suggested that Bo might not be the best choice for security, but Megan said Maxwell knew of Bo’s work as a private detective and was pleased with Bo’s work. Hope told Larry not to start anything, and Bo told “Mrs. Welch” that was okay. He got up to make a phone call, and Hope went to talk to Pete. Bo slipped Hope a note, and she got ready to leave. Larry helped her with her raincoat, and she dropped the piece of paper. Pete picked it up and told Larry he dropped something. Hope snatched it out of Larry’s hand and said it was a shopping list for the baby. She lied that she was going to meet Alice at the hospital, and Larry warned her not to go anywhere else. Hope told Larry not to tell her what to do. Bo whispered to Hope to take a cab to the hospital, come back and get her car, and then meet him at the north shore dock. Megan told Bo that she wasn’t fooled by his act; she knew he still had feelings for Hope. Bo continued to deny it, though. Hope got in Eugene’s cab to go to the hospital, and her watch started beeping. Eugene told Hope that if she was ever in any trouble, she could count on him to help her. Later, Alice and Hope were in the car together and Alice was swerving around corners trying to lose their tail. Hope told Alice that she and Bo were going to meet at the north shore dock, go across the lake, and spend some time at Shawn’s boathouse. Alice said she remembered the place. Hope asked if it was nice, and Alice told her that it was nice enough and very cozy for two young lovers.

Bo and Hope were on a rowboat and making their way across the lake in the middle of a rainstorm. Bo told Hope they couldn’t stay at the boathouse too long; they just needed to talk, make their plan, and then go back. Hope didn’t like that and asked Bo to hold her. Bo reminded her that they were in the middle of the lake during a rainstorm, but Hope wanted Bo’s arms around her. They hugged, and Hope suggested that they go out of town together. Bo told her he couldn’t do that because of the important case he was working on. He told her he would have to go to New Orleans in a couple of weeks, and Hope wanted to go with him. Bo told her it would be too dangerous. Hope reminded Bo that his trying to protect her from danger was what got them in this mess in the first place. Bo and Hope kissed, not noticing the hole that was letting water into the boat.

Bo and Hope noticed that their boat was filling up with water. Bo started rowing and told Hope to start bailing with her hands. Hope tried to scoop up and dump the water out of the boat, and Bo rowed as fast as he could. Bo told Hope they might have to swim to shore, but Hope told Bo she didn’t know how to swim. Eugene, who had met Calliope by now, was driving along, mumbling about her being a “pain in the butt,” when he started having vibes and felt the urge to go to the boat docks. A police officer flashed his lights and started his siren; Eugene waited for the car to stop, then hit the gas and took off. He got to the dock and jumped in, but then he didn’t know what to do. Bo and Hope saw and heard Eugene; the three ended up in the water, and Bo and Eugene helped get Hope to shore. Bo told Eugene not to say anything to anyone about this incident, and Eugene agreed. Eugene was giving Bo and Hope a ride in his taxi when another officer wanted them to pull over. Knowing that Bo and Hope didn’t want to be seen together, Eugene hit the gas pedal and started swerving around corners as he told the lovebirds to hang on. At the art gallery, Megan and Maxwell admired the unique crystal sculpture. Megan believed the exhibit would be a success, and she was excited about going to New Orleans with Bo. She told Maxwell she was anxious to get Bo away from Hope and the memories they shared. Maxwell told Megan that if it was Bo she wanted, it was Bo she would have. Megan thanked Maxwell for understanding, even if her mother didn’t. A business associate joined Maxwell and admired the sculpture. “It’s impressive,” the man said. “The first of the three prisms. I wonder where the other two are.” Said Maxwell, “We don’t even know which one of these prisms is the vital one. We’ll know that as soon as we get the instructions.” “Are the other prisms part of the sculpture, too?” “Your guess is as good as mine,” said Maxwell, who then asked his associate to find Bo. He wanted to see him right away. Eugene took Bo and Hope back to his place, then went to stash his taxi. Hope wanted to go with Bo to New Orleans, but Bo said it would be too dangerous. Hope asked if he thought his boss, Mr. Hathaway, was behind everything. Bo said it was possible. Eugene returned and told Bo that since he was in on this one, like it or not, he wanted to know the whole story.

Bo told Eugene the whole story about Hope, Larry, and the forced marriage. Eugene offered to help any way he could. Bo told Hope that she and Alice needed to lie that they went to a movie together, and Bo told Eugene that they were to report going to the fights together. Danny called Eugene’s to find Bo; Eugene told Danny they had been to the fights, and Danny asked who won. Eugene turned the phone over to Bo. Danny said Maxwell was trying to find him and wanted him to call him at the art gallery. Bo phoned Max, who asked him to meet him on his yacht. When Maxwell hung up, his business associate asked how Maxwell could trust Bo when they barely knew each other. Maxwell assured his friend that he and Bo were a lot alike. Maxwell met with his cartel and told everyone that he wanted to take Bo in the organization, as his protégé. When others wondered if Bo could be trusted, Max assured them that Bo would be tested soon, in New Orleans. Bo failed to meet Hope; Eugene was driving her home when Bo jumped up from the back seat and pulled Hope in for a kiss.

After talking to Marlena about her son, Diane was back at work. Nick wanted to talk with her, but she told him she was busy. Nick phoned Maxwell and told him that the job was harder than anticipated. Maxwell told him that he wasn’t getting off that easy after the stunt he pulled trying to blackmail Larry. Nick said he didn’t know Larry was working for Maxwell. Maxwell told Nick he wanted a boy . . . now. Nick asked Diane for a minute and told her he was only thinking about her son, as he heard some people talking about being desperate to adopt a child and give him a loving home. Diane didn’t trust Nick, but she told him she’d think about it.
