Days of Our Lives
Tuesday, December 15, 2015

Today's episode makes up for yesterday's, it is couples' day, featuring several different pairs of Salemites. (NBC interrupted for about 15 min, just after the show began, so can only give you the other 45 min...well, probably about 25, discounting commercials. LOL)
Brady is moving pillows around or something in the living room, Theresa comes out of the bedroom with coffee, saying Tate only began crying just a couple minutes ago. She doesn't let Brady go to him, saying the baby should not get spoiled, and within a minute or two, Tate's crying stops. Theresa wonders what they should do now, kiss, kiss. But then they are talking, she thinks he should go back to victor's, he obviously is so worried about what Philip might do. She goes on at how Philip did all these bad things, is a liar, a cheat, but she had done the same, plus put his dad in a coma. Brady stops her from berating herself, saying the difference is she is sorry for the things she did, Philip is not. Thinks he is smarter than anyone and everyone. More kissing, and stripping down to the undies, and you all know what happens next.

Philip & Belle are shooting baskets, taking turns, chatting a bit about her being in Salem, while Shawn is back home in Maine. She does mention going to law school. he drops something on the ground, she picks it up, is a badge or something his commander gave to him in the service. His most treasured possession because his commander gave it to him, doesn't matter for what. He carries it with him, brings him luck. He asks her to dinner tomorrow night, she says no. She still is figuring out exactly what she wants to do.

JJ & Gabi are on a sort of date, wandering around Horton square. He is pointing out all the places he got in trouble, smashed that window, got in a fight there, she says at least he did not go to jail for murder. He points out where he met Paige, she is sorry she never even met her (her half sister) but tells him that at least he helped capture her killer. They walk around some more, chat a lot.

Chad sits with Abby, who is feeling tired and dragged out. Chad says she needs some rest, that Thomas is coming home tomorrow, she figures she will just nap on a cot in the hospital call room. He has a better idea, and they are in a hotel room. He talks her into resting, even if she doesn't sleep, but she does fall asleep, has a nightmare about being in the burning cabin, yelling for Ben to come back, wakes up with a start. Chad comforts and soothes her, she is safe, the baby is safe with people who are caring for him, the cabin burned down, nothing can hurt her. She leans against him, his arm is around her, he is going to tell her a fairy tale. (This is all soooo cute now)
He starts with Once Upon a time, a beautiful princess named Abigail, she is interrupting him, light heartedly, but finally lets him tell the tale of unhappy Abby, who moved to Antartica, but first stole magic beans but could not plant them, ground was frozen. And then the whaler named Chad, who had been carrying on with a white whale, (LOLOL) but when he first saw Abigail, (and now Chad uses a sort of pirate voice, avast me hearties, etc.) and tells how Chad told himself that this is the girl for you, there is no other, he will love her for the rest of his life. He is constantly stroking Abby's hair as he talks, she seems to have fallen asleep now.

A love song begins playing, a male voice singing, as we see Brady & Theresa nestled together on the floor in front of a roaring fire, Philip & Belle leaving the basketball court, JJ & Gabi come thru that archway, look at each other, he straightens her coat, they kiss. And in the dark, Chad stares at the ceiling while holding onto the sleeping Abby.

Few things about the show today, I thought it was pretty crappy of JJ to call Chad "a sleaze with a rich daddy" (Gabi said she hadn't felt worthy of Chad and that was JJ's response). Ummm, JJ your sister would be dead if not for Chad. I thought it was sad but adorable when Chad had tears falling down his face (as he was telling his fairy tale).

The Belle and Philip scenes, eh, her snarky remarks were too overboard for me. Why not walk off if she harbors such anger (or whatever)? I forgot what all was going on when Philip went off the show, or the last things between these two.

Not to nitpick, but Abby was nursing the baby, did she just stop when they got rescued? Otherwise she'd have to be around the hospital to feed him, no? I know, its a soap, the baby has to be bottle fed unless its for plot... but even that aside, I don't know if I'd have been comfortable leaving him in the hospital if I had the option of staying near. Not with my first baby, anyway.

I too missed about 10 min of the show, basically the 2nd set of scenes. 2/4 rootable couples isn't bad I guess.

LOVED the JJ/Gabi and Chad/Abby scenes! I'm so glad that Chad stopped before going too far. The story was adorable and I too loved the playful banter and Chad crying. Very nice touches.

I was surprised that JJ and Gabi kissed so soon but it also didn't bother me. I like this couple.

I'm not a Belle/Philip fan at all but the actors do have chemistry and I thought the basketball playing was interesting touch. I find it hard to believe Belle would just now be finding out about Philip's medal though. They were married after he was in the Marines. Plus I still don't like the fact that she chased him down. I may have missed it but I also didn't hear any discussion about Claire which would be out of character for Philip.

Brady and Jeannie T. are pure fast forward material for me. Incomparable to any of the other couples we saw today, including Belle and Philip.

As much as I'm glad Hope wasn't on, yesterday's show ended with a cliffhanger. I sincerely hope tomorrow's show picks up with a new day in Salem and Hope and Rafe's conversation will have been an afterthought.

I really like Gabi and JJ , they really work good together, not forced at all . I know i am in the minority but I do like Brady and Theresa together, plus any day that I get to see Brady in underwear is a bonus.

Not a Chad and Abby fan, have very little interest in watching them, same as Philip and Belle.

So...I liked that JJ & Gabi told each other all their negative things. I don't even know if JJ is aware that Chad saved his sister's life, and the life of his newly born, preemie nephew.
I was shocked that Abby was being so gung ho with Chad over having sex, and loved it was him that pulled away, What was wrong with her just a couple of days after delivering a baby.

Yes, but am not sure what exactly it was that JJ said when Gabi mentioned having dated Chad, and him not being right for her????? Maybe it was that he had a sleaze for a father???

Finally an episode which didn't immediately make me want to watch a double feature of The Road and 12 Years a Slave in order to renew my faith in humanity. :)

My thoughts on the couples from least favorite to favorite (the line to lay bets on which couple gets the top spot starts on the left):

Philip and Belle: I didn't think these scenes were bad but I wasn't watching when they were together so their conversation just didn't resonate because I didn't have the historical or emotional context. I did see some chemistry so I wasn't bored but overall they just rated a shrug.

Brady and Theresa: Whatever. I will say that I do appreciate the changes that have been made to Theresa's character over the last couple of months. She is no longer the human equivalent of nails on a chalkboard to me now. I also like that she expressed regret over what she had done to John for the first time that I can think of. But I still don't really get it.

Abigail and Chad: These scenes were great. I did find the bedtime story a little overly cheesy but then I saw Chad's tear at the end and my cynical He-Man exterior crumbled and the inner marshmallow took over.

Gabi and JJ: :love::love: These two have me at hello every time. The fact that they were featured in the episode which felt to me like a preview of the new batch of couples/stories they'll be developing in the new year made my heart sing. Yep the old Ticker literally burst into Neil Diamond's "Cracklin' Rosie" which seemed to be a strange choice but hey who knows why the heart wants what it wants right?

Anyway I digress. I love the poignancy in these two damaged screw-ups coming together. I could have have done without JJ's gratuitous casting shade on Chad but I was glad that Gabi deflected it by pointing out how she is in no position to pass judgement. And he dropped it. As much as I liked the kiss I hope they stay with the slower pace they've been moving at with those two because that's what these characters need in my opinion. But those minor concerns aside I am definitely a fan.

It was a interesting episode I have to say. Some scenes were a bit on the mushy side for me but at least we are seeing more progression with certain couples.

I love Gabi and JJ. I think they have so much in common and by all means it has a lot of potential to work out. I also thought "what an ingrate" about JJ when he referred to Chad a "sleazeball with a rich daddy", Chad is the reason why his sister and nephew are alive. Though as was pointed out JJ didn't arrive till after Chad and Abby were outside the cabin. So more then likely JJ doesn't know Abby and Chad were tied to a bed and set on fire for Chad to rescue them both.

In my opinion Philip and Belle very misplaced and awkward seemingly. Though it seemed more so like Belle was coming onto Philip on reminiscing about being married to him. It just seemed inappropriate for Belle when she hasn't even signed the ink on the divorce papers to Shawn.

Theresa and Brady were really cute today I enjoyed the homelyness for sure. I had no idea John and Marlena were neighbors, that should be interesting. Though towards the end whoooooah it was starting to get HBO on NBC daytime......almost soft core porn the way there getting all undressed. Though that's Theresa and Brady always.

LOL, I always find the different takes on scenes really interesting. Thank you to those who did clarify that JJ called Chad a sleaze.
Especially, because personally, I cannot stand these constant sex scenes between Brady & Theresa. Yes, I think they are changing her, but I just wish she put her foot down, told sex addled Brady that they need to live sex free for.....oh, say at least a month. This would give him time to decide what he wants to do with his life now, get his ducks in a row, and really make up his mind that he wants to spend his life with the mother of his son.
That said, am surprised with how fast Theresa managed to get all that furniture in place, (even including pillows, egads) she doesn't have Christmas tree or decorations up. But then, perhaps the elves have not yet gotten busy in Salem, as they usually do.

Agree. JJ didn't come off too well with that comment. And if he wanted to take a walk down memory lane, it's too bad that Rory wasn't there to fill Gabi in on some of the more interesting details of JJ's rough and rowdy past. Speaking of JJ, it was a little surprising that he cited the old 1965 sexploitation film Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! as one of his favorites. Perhaps, he and Rory found it among Jack's collection of old VCR cassettes. Elsewhere, Jeannie T. needs to be brought up to speed if she thinks Philip is "a pillar of honesty." Maybe Belle could fill her in on how she and Shawn ran from Toronto to Tinda Lau to escape Titan's new CEO.

So...both Gabi & JJ have cited Citizen Kane as their favorite movie? I absolutely HATED that movie. I remember renting it at the library, and the gal said....it isn't what you expect, you may not like it. She was right. I can see why neither mentioned Dirty Dancing (ah, yes, inside joke as many here are with me on watching it over and over)
But c'mon. Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th St., 30 Seconds over Tokyo, Sound of Music, Guys & Dolls, Mrs. Miniver, The Shop Around the Corner, Big, lol, even Groundhog Day, and Dave. '
