Actress leaving

I have been a longtime Brady/Theresa fan but lately with this whole Summer debacle, I have some different thoughts about them. I think she and Brady are getting married (thus Eve, Shane and Kim returning) and this drives Summer to attempt to murder Theresa. Summer's infatuation with Brady and desire to prevent Theresa from revealing Summer for the scam artist (and not child of Maggie) she is would be motive.

This way we get rid of Summer finally AND Theresa either dumps Brady once and for all or ends up in a coma which leaves the door open for Jen Lilley (Theresa) to return someday. They could always replace the actress with a new actress too, but I have some satisfaction in Theresa walking away from Brady after she realizes she deserves better.

Theresa just got herself turned around to a good place, the baby, Brady, (I love them together) her own business, now we the viewers get another kick in the gut as well as Brady. This is enough to make me give up on Days, especially if the plan is to kill Theresa. Will this finally result with him and Nicole together and at last a happy married life together? Gads I hope so

Soap writers seem to feel that while the eventual marriage of a couple is great, the life for the couple afterwards is boring. They only know to cause the couple misery, arguments, interference, etc., which results in them breaking up, getting divorced, etc.

I always felt they just could not think like the writers of McMillan & Wife, Hart to Hart, etc. I guess the idea that Alice & Tom Horton could have possibly stayed in love, married, raised children, had a career, volunteered, etc., had their lives entertaining hundreds of thousands of viewers over the years. Today, their lives are considered "boring".

Imagination is hard to come by, I guess.

I actually think that American television has become much more cynical over past 15 to 20 years, and this crosses all genes. Honest, devoted, meaningful characters, trying to do the right thing are considered boring, dull and even stupid these days. Sadly this also applies to relationships. Heck, even Superman/Clark Kent has to be painted as dark and brooding these days.

All they (the writers, and I use that term loosely) seem to know how write is catastrophic death. Summer is leaving, not soon enough. Maybe she has something to do with Theresa's exit. Brady is being written poorly for some time now. They finally began to write Theresa as more than one dimension.

It is apparent to me that no one writing has the slightest clue of fan favorites. They are diminishing and killing them off.

I agree, Moira. And this is exactly why Days should NOT write 6 months in advance. They could tape 2 months in advance max and have the chance to change stories the viewers are not reacting to in a productive way. We don't have to have all rainbows and unicorns. I love a good storyline with a character to hate etc. But they are not writing for the fans. I swear they are writing to ruin the show altogether and I have actually started exploring some of the other soaps to see if there is something better. And that's sad as I have been watching since I was a teen.

I believe now that Shane, Kim, and Eve are back for Theresa's wedding to Brady. However we don't know if Theresa makes it to the altar. Maybe something happens at the wedding if that explains her next exit.

What are they going to do with this storyline, Brady/Theresa? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm! This will be somewhat of a mystery for now. I certainly will be looking for little clues along the way. ShaSha

Jeannie T's character has been an epic fail from Day 1 in my opinion. She was a cheap villainess whose backstory was illogical, and now they're painting her as a heroine which is whitewashing what we saw on the show. She and Brady were doomed from the get-go, and don't get me started on the dumbness of the Tater Tot story.

That being said...Jen Lilley is fantastic and made the best of what crummy material she was given. There were days I could have almost cared about Jeannie T, and that was all thanks to Jen's performance.

At this point, short of revealing her as a DiMera clone/operative, I say scratch the character. Let her die in Brady's arms moments after they marry (that'd be a new twist and could propel some Brady story). Let Summer/Cindi be her killer, and go to prison for the crime. Let her family mourn her, and be angry for not being around with her, or Tate, whatever.

Best wishes to Ms Lilley.

I'm not a fan of killing off Jeannie T. simply because Salemites have been falling recently like pins in a bowling alley. On the other hand, Ms. Donovan's demise would continue Brady's remarkable record of being involved with women who came to bad ends. In fact down the road, friends and family of any woman Brady casts an eye at would warn her to stay far, far away, citing the sad fates of Arianna the First, Madison James, and now Jeannie T. As for Summer, having her go to prison is a great idea -- not only for murdering Tater Tot's mom, but also for pulling an elaborate scam on Maggie aimed at getting her money. And if the psycho mermaid does go to jail, here's hoping that somebody in the women's prison system has restarted Warden Jane's body-parts racket.

I have to agree with Poirot and Jason. Really don't like the character, but admire the actress. To me, she was never redeemed. There was no apology to John for trying to kill him, no apology to Brady for letting him take the rap, and no redemption that I could see. Yea, she had a kid, and started to grow up, but that's far from redemption. Glad to see the character leaving, sad about the actress who is extremely talented.

By Christmas, it will be hard to recognize this show with all the people leaving.

I am really saddened to hear that Jen Lilley (Theresa) is leaving the show. :( Jen Lilley really embraced the character of Theresa and it was evident in her performance whether she was scheming or trying to make amends, Jen truly made Theresa a believable character. I really liked and enjoyed the dynamic between her and Eric Martsolf (Brady). I thought they complimented each other very well onscreen. I am really hoping that Theresa is written off with the "door open" allowing her to come back to the show and I personally hope it's sooner then later.

Although I am a big fan of Jen Lilley so if this is a decision she is happy with, I completely respect it and wish her the very best. She is a very talented woman with such a bright future.

One word. KRISTEN! I'm certainly speculating now after this announcement that Kristen will show her mean mean mean face at Brady and Theresa's wedding. Perhaps even Kristen has to do with Theresa's exit. Best way to write them both out finally.
