SPOILER !! Week June 4

Have to say, I do the same. When we all were little, we loved fairy tales, cartoons, and it was all make believe, or just not like real life. We tease about how Salemites recover and have no scars, and yet, how many cartoon character get dynamite blown up in their faces, only leaving a bit of soot? LOL. Elmer Fudd chased that wascally wabbit with a shotgun, but Bug Bunny never had an injury. Then there was "I taut I saw a pussy cat", starring Tweety & Sylvester. Shall we name Snow White, The Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty...maybe even Robin Hood. So, now.....

Fantasy but sort of modernized. Sure, I gripe, find fault, roll eyes, comment about writing a different scenario, but I do enjoy the escapism, and appreciate the efforts to bring something different into my day. (Not always, but mostly! LOL)

Who cares who murdered Stefano? Please leave Hope alone. As far as she knows, he is dead.

I'm sure Chad, Kristen, Johnny, Sydney and Thomas do. And as JS already stated, Hope thinks Stefano is alive.

As for asking me to leave Hope alone, this is a message board where we are all entitled to state our opinions about characters we like or dislike without being scolded by other posters.

Stefano's grandchildren, thank heavens, do not know what a monster their grandfather was, and Chad has seemed determined to erase the bad vibes the DiMera name raised, and run things legitimately, etc.

I think it is hard for writers to deal with, or try to correct the mistakes of previous ones. When the show decided, because of the actor's ill health, to end the life of Stefano DiMera, he could have gone quietly in his sleep, but instead, in true Stefano fashion, his time was at an end, and he goaded and goaded, in order to take one more victim with him. So Hope shot Stefano, but the worse part was the cover up and framing of an innocent person, even tho that person deserved it after all the horrible things he had done. (Andre).

But Hope is a long time vet, a "good guy", so now how do we fix this so she does vanish from Salem. and thus comes Patch & Shane, with their big act, disguise, and the pretense that Stefano is still alive. It was lame, but Days has done lots of lame things. Yes, Hope thinks Stef is still alive, tho she knows she tried to cover up his death. And now the writers are pretending none of it ever happened. Rafe did not put his own job and well being in jeopardy to help cover up the death of Stefano, ...hey....he wasn't dead!

That whole scenario reminds me of that Salem Stalker storyline, where bosses had a fit, fix it, however, we don't care. But make sure all those people are not dead. Melaswen came to be. And in Hope's case.....Fix this.....make sure she is not guilty.....whatever you have to do. She is not going to prison.

And this is why, I constantly maintain, that no matter what he says, Corday does not "keep an eye" on his soap. His mother did. He does not. Oh, he checks once in a while, but he is not reading outlines, breakdowns, etc. And he certainly has made no effort to curb the rapid filming pace.

This site allows us to voice our opinions. Occasionally I am censured by the Administrators and that is their prerogative. Their board, their rules. Got it.

I am allowed to disagree with the writers. Yes I can turn it off. I even mentioned on more than one occasion that if such and such doesn't change or get fixed, I am done. Been watching Days since almost the beginning.

Then when I say that, I am chided for not being loyal no matter what. I need to stay true to Days. Well I guarantee you there are some writers that have not been true to the history and narrative of Days of Our Lives. They are darn well determined to write what they want and the viewers are secondary. They cannot please all of us but if we do not speak up when they are inconsistent, condescending and outright re-writing history, we are not being true ourselves.

As much as I enjoy some science fiction i.e. Star Wars (IV, V and VI), Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. I would appreciate that aspect of all things Days to stop. We go through this person dying and then we are insulted with constant revivals. It's tedious and over done. It used to only be Stefano, then it was Steve and so on.

I loved Jack played by Matthew Ashford, but I don't see the sense in him coming back again. He was the lovable loser and it's been done enough. I do believe killing Vivian was ridiculous. Every time I saw Vivian with a gun it looked laughable. She is much more intimidating in other ways. Then we have Kate kill her as we saw and she suddenly hasn't lost enough blood to kill her. Guess she got a transfusion. This set up to me was all so Kate could segue into her next venomous life. Too bad Kate wasn't taken out instead and leave us with Vivian. Kate's never, never pays except maybe that time on a fishing boat.

These are my thoughts; whether or not you agree is up to you.. Long, long, long time viewer who feels I have earned my opinion. It works for me.

The problem with the writers is that they don't seem to think ahead or consider the future implications of their death plots. They go for the cheap, easy drama of somebody in Salem dying (Will dies!!!!), but apparently fail to consider or simply ignore the fact that they are depriving themselves or future writers of a useful character down the road. Instead of killing a character, they should send them off to some location outside Salem (e.g., Shaggy Phil in Chicago or Carrie "Princess Hag" Reed in Zurich) or perhaps put them in a coma. Yes, soap comas are nothing like the real thing (no real after-effects, right John?), but it's a lot less far-fetched that somebody recovers from a coma than returns to life either miraculously or through the pseudo-scientific machinations of somebody like Dr. Rolf.

Hope chastises Marlena for not stopping Ben’s release.
Meanwhile, Jason chastises Hope for murdering an old man and framing his "son." And even if she thinks Stefano's alive, her guilt should be greater because she obviously killed someone else and then dumped that body in an abandoned building.

Stellar speculation, Eras. Meanwhile I'm not sure why Ben's in jail when other serial killers are out. After all - we could just say Stefano programmed him to do it. LOL

As to reality/fantasy and Elmer Fudd - part of the reason we're supposed to care about shows like Days of Our Lives is because it's (somewhat/moreso) realistic. We can relate to the characters. So the more they ask us to suspend our belief - the less we should care what happens to the characters. And with their constant plot reversals, it calls into question every death, breakup, and makeup. Why should we invest if they don't?

Meanwhile, Jason chastises Hope for murdering an old man

While I have a lot of respect for you, Jason, I love that you do the summaries on Thursdays, and I enjoy your posts, I must say I disagree with this one.

I would hardly qualify Stefano Dimeira as an "old man". He was a monster, a psychopath, a heartless murderer himself, a torturer, a downright horrible. Nope, not a human being, again, a monster. We may have loved the actor, but the character, I despised. Even today, Chad, and others, try to say family was everything to him. Come on, he killed Benjamin, he had Lexie put in tunnels, etc.

And when Hope shot him, she was in shock, and Stefano made sure, in fact, that she shot him. He wanted to die, but he couldn't do it himself. I for one think his ending could have been so much better had he taken pills, sat in his chair, while listening to an opera. On the chess table beside him, a message: "I am not sorry" or "Checkmate" or "I still win, you never got me". See, that could have worked. But alas, the "writers" chose another way for him to go. Badly done, but I would hardly compare Hope to Ben Weston.

And definitely, Hope and Rafe, while they may not be liked as a couple, are no criminal couple, no Bonnie and Clyde.

Although his name was Benjy, Steve usually called him Benjamin, so it was a name that was used for him. Same as how Steve often referred to Max as Maxwell. Nothing to apologize for. :)

Actually, Andre killed Benjy.

O.K. So I went and had my coffee. So apparently, I got everything wrong this morning, JS. :rotfl: You were correcting me on Benjy's killer, not the name. Wow. I was really "dans la lune", we would say in French. Lost in my thoughts, if you prefer. Or simply lost. :rotfl: Now, I do apologize for that. :):back:
