Daniel, Nicole & the papers

Nicole is my favorite character (and actress), but I don't see a change in her. Many say she evolved into a good person but I think she was just being "good" because she had no reason to lie and scheme then. What she is doing to Eric and Daniel doesn't surprise me in the least. I believe Nicole is the same as she always was, but I like her, warts and all.

I do agree with you, KathyLu. I guess the last few months, where Nicole was presented to us as someone who was not as selfish, was just smoke and mirrors. But, like you, I like her a lot. In fact, she's my favorite character on Days. I kind of want to root for her no matter what. Maybe because deep down, to me, she's a good person. So Nicole was always like that : good qualities, but some other really big flaws.

But what bothers me so much on Days, is the fact that so many other characters have done much worse than she has. Look at Sami. She was (at least to me) always a horrible person. No qualities (again, in my opinion). She was more tolerable with Lucas (with their green wedding) and with Rafe, but barely. She always was the one to throw temper tantrums and act like a raving lunatic, and throw accusations left and right, as well as judgments. But people seem to get passed it somehow. Marlena always forgives her (yes, she's Sami's mother, but to me, Sami was abusive towards Marlena for many years, and I never accept abuse of that kind, whether in a family or not). And how about EJ. How many things did he do that were horrible ? Yet now, people almost worship the guy, including Will, who tried to kill him once. And Marlena even toasted EJ and Sami at their engagement party, while she keeps spitting on Nicole. And how about Kate. How many people has she tried to kill ? Plus, she married Stefano, the biggest crime Lord in Salem. And then there's Hope... she tried to kill her own husband, by setting him on fire. But of course, she had an excuse. She was on pills. EJ ? He's changed. Sami ? It's who she is. Kate ? Heck, who knows, but apparently, people still love her. And perfect Jennifer : she harassed Nicole but always came out smelling like roses. And Eric : he accused Nicole of rape, cried a little about it, but then, was forgiven much too fast for my taste by Nicole.

So how come all these people, all the Salemites, keep repeating how horrible Nicole is ? How come they keep throwing her past in her face (and don't get me started on the porn star comments, when she was in fact abused in a terrible way by her father). It's the double standard that gets to me. I hate the fact that Nicole can't get away with anything, but others get free passes all the time. But again, that's :beat:

So... rant over. Carry on ! :)

Face it , The Writer, there are just not too many "nice" folks in Salem. That's what makes the show so interesting.......well, that is when they finally have a decent storyline.

Unfortunately, I cannot think of a decent storyline on Days for the past few years with these writers  .

The Writer, I do agree with you about the horrible things that Sami, EJ, and Kate have done over the years and their hypocritical actions passing judgments on others whose horrible actions have not been forgiven as theirs have been time after time. However, the problem with Marlena, Hope, Eric, and Jennifer has been due to the way they have been written the past couple of years to the point where I can no longer stand Jennifer, and barely tolerate Marlena, Eric, and Hope. I honestly think these characters, if they were written as they were portrayed in the 1980's and 1990's, that they would be more tolerant and forgiving of Nicole's actions.

Eric is getting on my last nerve, how can he be this stupid. Nicole is a liar and she will never change. I knew she would never tell the truth even though she should know by now she can never get away with her lies. She gets caught every time.

I understand that Daniel is Nicole and Eric's friend but I just believe he should just stay out of it. It is practically ruining his own life. In this situation you have to pick one friend over the other and its just too difficult to do that and then hurt the other. It is better to stay out of drama then to immerse yourself in the middle of it.

I strongly disagree, Eric deserves to know the truth and Nicole will never tell him on her own. You can't base a marriage on a lie.

Nicole has dared to "pull the wool" over a Brady's eyes - even if it were (in her mind) born out of her love for Eric. IMO, everyone wants to lambaste her because Eric is a Brady. Now, if she were a member of the Sainted Brady or Horton family....it could be excused.

I doubt that.....the character of Nicole was created & is written to be unforgiven at all times.

Everyone gets upset with what Sami does or has done, but...they still love her. She is family, yes. No one really shuns Nicole, or refuses to talk to her. They are wary, but she DOES have this way of making you feel so badly for her, which is why there are those who WILL help...like Rafe....or Daniel.....or Eric....or Jennifer.
Admittedly, her lies and schemes have broken the faith/trust that some friends have had in her - like Brady. Too bad it is his liquor talking.

Nicole is given the kind of stories she has lived thru, because Ari Zucker who plays her can pull it all off, every emotion, every needed facial expression. She really has a talent for hating what she has done or is doing, but feeling for her and understanding her "why". We don't like what she has done, but someone Nicole draws you in anyway.

I don't think it is wrong to stay out of the drama. You're opening a can of worms and once again putting yourself in the middle of someone else's drama. This is where your loyalty is heavily tested. Things always get messy when you're dealing with two friends, two people you love, two people who love eachother. You sometimes feel responsible for them and their happiness and you want to see them do well. Unfortunately, being that shoulder they lean on can become harder work than its worth. I don't believe there is a right or wrong way about it. Daniel could choose to stay out of the drama and let things happen as fate would have it. In the end, secrets have a way of coming to light don't they?

So, I love these two people, want to see them happy, so don't tell them their car is leaking oil or has a slow leak in their tire, as they head across Death Valley to Calif. on their honeymoon, blissfully happy?I don't tell one that the other needs surgery right now, so they can go elope happy? I don't tell one that the police were at my home with a warrant for the arrest of the other on a charge of ...arson, larceny, grand theft, murder??? Let them have their happiness and be devastated later, right?

What I personally would do, and what a soap opera character does have nothing to do with each other. That character is doing what will make good story, good scenes, move the plot along, etc. And that character's words and actions are controlled by the writers. Sure, perhaps each of us might write the story differently. What is going on right now is the show is trying to wrap the story, something they should have done in the middle of sweeps month.

You are bringing up situations that are not even in the same category of the discussion at hand, first of all. Second of all, I know it's a soap with crazy characters and plot lines. Of course its someone is going to be meddlesome and immerse themselves in drama for the sake of the plot. I am just stating the opinion that he should stay out of it and there is no right or wrong if he stayed out of it or not. It's a crazy situation.

Right. And I think Daniel was being a good friend to care so much and want Nicole to do the right thing by the man she claims to love, especially as he tried to make her realize (and she did) that she betrayed the trust Daniel had in her, that a marriage to Eric would fail if based on a lie, and that she was not letting Eric choose.

I also think Daniel would be a lousy friend to say nothing when he is aware of a truth that MIGHT cause a good friend to decide on a different path. The friend still might choose the same one, but it would be HIS choice.

Nicole & Eric will have a lot to hash out. Sure, he may forgive. Heck, he forgave others plenty of times. But I think perhaps this is going to be a bit difficult, because she lied, and lied, and broke the trust. That is important. She trashed Daniel, broke the trust with him, and their friendship along with it. And she lied ABOUT Daniel to Eric. And Daniel is Eric's friend. and even when she knew that Eric knew what she had done, she was still "spinning" it, leaving things out, etc.

Hey, I love Nicole, I hate that the writers have her as the whipping boy(o.k. girl) for the town. I hate that they always have her so desperate for approval, so needy. But as I said in another thread, this actress can make you believe it all, and feel so badly for her while she is doing it. The bad stuff I mean. She conveys every emotion right on target. So I applaud Ari Zucker who plays Nicole so very well.
