Like Poirot, I have lots of cousins, and a few names are repeated, just by chance. I think it would be more odd in a small family. My ex-husband's family had one son, and multiple grandsons, named after the father/grandfather. Frankly, I thought it was ridiculous and a bit irritating, but to each his own. My son even got it for his middle name, but he was the first male grandchild. If I'd known others were going to use it too, I would have insisted on something different. I'm all for carrying down family names but there are usually others in a family worthy of the honor. Why bestow it all on one person, who sometimes isn't even all that beloved?
