Sounds good, except for the life of me I can't figure out why they had to put EJ in the episode. He has no business being there. No worries though, I'll just ff'd through him and concentrate on how good it is to see Kimberly back.

I have to agree with this Norma. It didn't seem to me that EJ belonged there either. Especially escorting Caroline to her seat. I guess it just goes to show that Caroline is a very forgiving person. I have to admire her for that. IMHO this "papa EJ" is extremely boring and I wonder how they would react if they knew the truth about everything EJ has done.

caroline inviting Ej tofuneral

I stated on FL that Caroline today reminded me of Mrs H. when she could accept Bo when he was considered a bad apple by Hope's parents and she saw his good heart and his true love for Hope. she was a true matchmaker and I love that they seem to be going that way with Caroline. I'm glad EJ was there because Sami needed someone to comfort her and EJ knows how to make her calm unlike any other person. My opinion and I know its not popular on this board is that SAmi and EJ are the real deal and that She will have the power to redeem EJ and it won;t happen over night but with Caroline as a mentor I can see him getting there.

I don't think Caroline had any motive other than kindness.
I agree. Caroline is like Alice Horton in that respect...they are both extremely kind-hearted, even with people we, the viewers, feel don't deserve it.

No matter whether we love or hate EJ,the fact is, he is verrry boring this way. I feel like, why go through all of the pains to redeem him when we know that he is not going to stay that way? A lot of people here love him. They fell for him when he was absolutely wicked. How many of them are gonna feel that way if he remains Sami's little whipped pup? He doesn't seem to even have an opinion of his own anymore. This agreeable EJ just ain't gettin' it done for me. I need a little bad boy EJ. Even though I am not really a fan of Ejami, I miss some of his attitude. Come on. Bring him back and give Nujohn a run for the money. Literally!! JMHO

Cant wait until tomarrow to watch. I look forward to reading every morning. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful Send Off Barb

Barb,

You have done an excellent write up on what must have been a very hard show to watch let alone write about. You have my deepest admiration for putting into words the heartfelt goodbye to our 2nd great patriarch of Days Grandpa Shawn. He will truly be missed from the show. I was shedding tears just reading your words. Thank you for all you do.

 Thank you for the beautiful write-up, Barb.

I'm so glad Days is giving Shawn Brady such a beautiful send off. As someone else said, he's a patriarch of the show & though he wasn't seen very often, Frank Parker will be missed. I'm sad that we didn't get one more scene with he & Kimberly who he called "Me best & me brightest!"

The character of Caroline has always been plain spoken but so very kind. Even if she's letting you have it, she's doing it in a loving manner. She isn't rude to anyone, including EJ. As to her inviting him to the funeral, I think she is trying her best to help him see that he can change & that she wants him to change because he's the father of her great-grandson. She's always tried to see the best in everyone. Ej has conducted himself in a very discreet manner when he's been in her presence & that of the Brady family. It's obvious that he's not there to gawk but to be there for Sami.

At the moment, I'm on the fence between Lucas & EJ. I can't wait until they bring Lucas back & the triangle ensues!!

This funeral to me sounds a gut wrenching as the one that was on for Tom. I loved Tom. I always thought of him and Alice as Grandparents in a strange way. I started watching Days when i was in middle school, so I for sure grew up with them. I still tear up every Christmas when they hang Tom's ornament and Alice speaks to his picture.. I was at the grocery store tonight and bought tissues.. I am sure I will need them. Tomorrow is errand day for me, but I have rearranged it all.. NOT going to miss this one..

Shawn... we will all miss you!!

great posts ... I love Caroline! She is soooooo Wise! The most forgiving people are sometimes the one's who have truly experienced unconditional forgiveness themselves!

I agree with you about Caroline. One by one the Brady's are being won over by EJ. I don't agree with the triangle. I can't watch that again for another year, it would be too boring! What we need to see is Sami make a decision and stick with it (read this as tptb). I could see Sami and EJ taking on JAWN or NuJohn. That would be interesting. I don't want to see EJ as a lapdog either. When Lucas comes back, I want him to see Sami has changed, her feelings have changed and she can't lie or deny it. I want to see Lucas get mad, real mad because the Saint Lucas character is boring for me. Maybe the show has too many saints on it! LOL! Might be why I am enjoying NuJohn so much.

I agree with this ...

I could see EJ becoming the go to guy ... Marlena going to him seeking him about because of John, EJ working with Marlena to get the old John back ... I think Deidre and James would give us some great scenes ...

If they bring Lucas back - bring him back all bitter and angry ... have him start drinking again! Sami and Lucas rock at being enemies!!!

You are 100% correct - that is why a Sami and Lucas pairing didn't work well this last year, I found it boring, but it lacked that extra something that they have when they are hating each other.

@ Poirot, I watched the show last night after I got home from work. Sami does say that she spoke to Eric. It was the last name that she mentioned. It was said quickly.

wow, many thoughts and opinions, that's a good thing.

I think EJ is there to see a "real" family and to learn from that. Especially given the comment he made about it not being the way his father raised them. It is part of his redemption. Someone stated that they liked the bad EJ and wanted him to give NuJohn a run for his money.....That would be great but could they do it through business. I know it is soap world but do they have to go so far as mind erasing, brain chips, murders, kidnapping and rape. I personally would like to see the S/Ls becoming a bit more realistic and believable. How many times have all these people died, been kidnapped, brainwashed etc. It can still have great S/Ls with backstabbing business dealings, infidelity and things like that. Atleast when Sami got pregnant with EJ's baby it was the old fashioned way and not from egg switching....really, who knows how to pull that off anyway????

Love this site, have been reading a long time but recently had to start adding my two cents.

Sorry, Bo may have been a bad apple, but he certainly never tried to kill anyone! Making these comparisons to characters of old in order to make EJ look good has become ridiculous. While we can argue this to death, the truth is the writers screwed up on this one and they are now trying to back peddle with this character. Too bad that it has caused such a divide in the fan base!

How many times have the writers changed their minds on a character and had to "back peddle"? Such is the life of a soap opera!! LOL It isn't fair to call people's analysis of the S/L ridiculous. It is just their take on it. I love the different views of things. Some people have made me see things in a completely different light at times. It's not a "divide" it is just "opinions"! Enjoy it!

I just got done watching todays episode and Barb was so right about ti being a tear jerker. What a great show today. The only thing I wish is that Max would have been with the rest of the siblings at the casket when they held hands.

Good point Sizz...I didn't think about Max at that time. I just finished watching also...well listening...I couldn't look at the TV or I would just start crying. I thought being on the computer and just listening would hold me back but it was still hard. What a very powerful show. Bo's speach really got to me. Great acting.
