Four actors out

For the last several months the scripting has been dark, morbid, sad, senseless, and littered with downright ridiculous dead end stories.

It sometimes seems like the writers are hell bent on sabotaging our beloved DOOL.

The thing, tho, about contract roles is....the contract can be 3 months, 6, a year, 1 week. Plus, once on contract, you can be let go at the end of any 13 week cycle...as evidently has happened with the Belle & Shawn characters.

So Shawn and Belle are going? Not surprised. The twisted love affair with Philip and Belle, and now Lani and Shawn. I think the writers are going to give what the fans want, patch up things between Belle and Shawn, then they take off, leaving Claire at John and Marlena's.

So if Summer is disappearing around summer, she must have just been a fraud.

Lani well yeah, no good story for her at all. I'd rather her been the daughter of Lexi and Brandon Walker.

Partially I feel Brandon Beemer's (Shawn) exit is due to his ex lover who is pregnant Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe) who is returning soon, could be behind the scenes.

Side note I can totally see Nicole, Chloe and Theresa running a fashion line.

I agree. There has been NOTHING for Shawn since Day 1, he has been mostly ignored. I think the scenes with him & Lani were just to give them BOTH some work, since they are on contract. Shawn was given no interaction with his mother, his sister, his grandmother. Even at work, he has nothing to do.

Martha Madison (Belle) has said her last day of work is to be April 6th......which will take her airtime on the show all the way into August, near the end. Maybe even beginning of September.

And story for Belle has been a disaster. It does seem the writers just did not know what to do with them both. Belle is a lousy lawyer, who should have been working on establishing her law office, instead of running a club. Boy, she had $250,000 from Sami (if I remember right) & she bought the club, and now can give Philip the cash for a startup record label? Something he never did before. Gosh, that money really goes a long way, doesn't it, although don't know why Phil doesn't just visit the Salem money tree......wait, maybe that is where he gets the money to live on, with Vic kicking him to the curb.

And with all the big money Phil was making while in Chicago, he never managed to save a penny, huh? thus needs Belle's $$$$. Too bad she told him about it.

Wow, that's a pretty hefty sum. Sami said she gave Belle half....and has her half in trust for her children. I did just a bit of checking...some places say just "a significant amount of money", but one does say Sami stole 500 million! That much money (in Belle's name) would draw huge red flags, and should have been spread out in a few separate accounts. Oh, well, it's Salem...the supply of $$$$ is endless. Even Brady had plenty to lend Nicole & Theresa for their start up company.

@ErasofDiMeras. I love, love, love, your idea of Nicole, Theresa, and Chloe working together. If only TPTB would pick up on that fantastic suggestion. Three beautiful women producing jaw-dropping fashion and knocking snooty Kate flat on her back, (where she spends most of her time anyway). I swear if that woman's nose gets any higher she'll drown if it rains.

Yeah, like Maggie's other fraud children, Melissa and Sarah. Gone and forgotten. :sarcasm:

I'll re-up my statement above and say that there seems to be no connection between TPTB (the producers) who hire and the people who write.

It is NOT the writers who decide to have characters leave.

That may be true but this is the 2nd time that Dena Higley has taken over as head writer and her first move has been to fire Martha Madison (Belle) and Brandon Beemer (Shawn). I don't think that's entirely a coincidence.

There are also several actors who have openly stated that Josh Griffith hired them, that he personally reached out to them. John-Paul Lavoisier (Philip), A Martinez (Eduardo) and Vincent Irizarry (Deimos) are prime examples.

I also will reiterate my earlier thought that I think it's possible Belle and Shawn may be getting let go to bring back Sami.

The writers do not hire and fire. They create characters. And neither Shawn nor Belle has had any sort of decent story since they appeared, in fact, no story at all. That was not Higley. Now yes, they may suggest someone for a character. Evidently it was decided to bring Philip back, and the search was on for an actor to take on the role, as Jay Kenneth Johnson was adamant about not returning.Yes, Griffith saw the actor somewhere, & suggested him to the suits. But THEY hired him, etc. NOT the writers.

O.K. Griffith leaves, Higley comes out of her "leave of absence", Ryan Quan is promoted, and bingo, the announcement is made of these actors being gone. Since Lani was already done, no surprise. The Summer story has been ill received, & I am thinking the suits could see that themselves. Shawn & Belle just were not doing anything, had no story, Belle already was getting a lot of negative comments about what she was up to since her return. It was NOT working. The decisions could have been made back in December or January, for all we know. And since Belle's last filming date is next week, it does seem that since she is not in scripts/story (written months ahead) that the decision was not just made last week.
We all can speculate, guess, all we want, but we really do not know what goes on behind the scenes.
