Tess bemoaned her house-cleaning and janitorial jobs, and Pete suggested they didn’t have to be in a hurry to move to California. Tess wondered if Pete didn’t want to go with her and realized that Melissa was the reason. Mickey and Melissa went to a movie together. Mickey told Melissa he was concerned about her interest in Pete, and he wanted her to stay away from him. Pete called Melissa to ask her if Mickey gave her a hard time because of him. Maggie caught Melissa on the phone with Pete and told her that Pete was bad news. Melissa asked Maggie how Chris could see something special in Pete if he was so horrible. Maggie said she had asked herself that question but still didn’t have an answer.
Eugene surprised Marlena by picking her up for work in his cab. Roman was riding in the back seat and was disguised as a truck driver. Later, the two returned home. Bo brought Shawn over, and Marlena and Roman broke the news that Roman was alive. Shawn was overjoyed and wanted to shout the news from the rooftops, but the Bradys made him realize that he could only tell Caroline. Shawn asked if Alice knew, and they said no. Shawn figured it was only a matter of time before she found out. After Bo and Shawn left, Roman and Marlena began to kiss. Roman asked what the neighbors would think if he left his truck outside. Marlena laughed and said they would think she was having an affair with the milkman. Then the milkman carried her upstairs.
Roman and Marlena were together upstairs when Alice let herself in the house. Marlena rushed downstairs to greet her. Alice was concerned when she learned Marlena got sick and left work early. Marlena assured her that she was fine. Alice noticed warm milk jugs on the table, and Marlena said she forgot to put them away. Bo arrived and acted funny, causing Alice to sense that something was up. Bo saw the milkman hat on the couch and managed to hide it before Alice saw it. Alice asked why Marlena was getting her milk from a different dairy all of a sudden, but Marlena said the milk was on sale. Alice left, but she told Bo she wanted some answers from him later. Bo told Roman and Marlena that an autopsy showed that Dr. Hillary, the doctor on call the night Stefano died, did not die of a heart attack but was poisoned – and with the same poison used on the Slasher’s knives! Roman couldn’t figure out how all leads kept pointing back to a dead man, Stefano DiMera.
Tony visited the prisoner in the dungeon and taunted him about his lovemaking session with Anna. He removed the prisoner’s helmet/mask, and the prisoner was revealed to be the real Tony DiMera! While Tony was imprisoned in the dungeon, his cousin Andre had had plastic surgery and was impersonating him in order to do Stefano’s bidding and wage war against Roman. Andre was frustrated after running into Liz, who wanted to reminisce about their time in Europe. Andre wanted Tony to give him details about his marriage to Liz, as well as what Anna wore the night of their Las Vegas wedding. Tony was uncooperative. Delia arrived with sandwiches and prevented Andre from fighting with Tony. She reminded him that Tony was to be kept in good health. Tony finally relented and told Andre he would give him the information he wanted.
Tony didn’t want to give Andre information about his past, so Andre prepared to use sodium pentothal to make him tell the truth. He warned Tony that too much of the drug could prove fatal over time. Tony gave in and told Andre what he wanted to know. Tony told Andre that he was as much a prisoner as Tony was, and warned him that he could only ever be a mimic. Tony reminded Andre that while Andre only spoke one language, Tony spoke four. Andre told Tony that after his assignment at the benefit concert was finished, he would assume Tony’s life permanently. Andre ordered Delia to put the mask back on Tony, and chided Tony for not being nicer to him when they were growing up.
