Liz meets Al Jarreau – 5/1/84
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLMufwJmCmE

Singer Al Jarreau walked into Doug’s Place as Liz was singing “There’s No Easy Way to Break Somebody’s Heart.” Bo and Hope were there, separately, and each was affected by the song. Neil, not knowing who Mr. Jarreau was, explained to him that Liz was the finest singer in Salem and would be the biggest hit of the benefit concert. After the song, Liz was thrilled to meet Mr. Jarreau. She introduced him to Neil, Larry, Bo, and Hope, then raved about his music. He told her that he planned to introduce something new, and Neil offered that Liz was a songwriter as well as a singer. Mr. Jarreau asked her to bring some of her music when they met the next morning.

Al Jarreau visited with Hope at Doug’s Place while waiting for Liz. Hope answered the phone, and it was Alex looking for Tess. Hope told him she would have Tess call him if she showed up. Neil dropped Liz off for the meeting, and she introduced her song “After All.” Al sang it and liked it and told Liz he wanted to record her song as well as sing it at the concert. When he left the room, Liz squealed for joy and celebrated with Hope. Liz told Hope she wanted her to be happy, too, and asked if she was still in love with Bo. Hope said she didn’t know what she was feeling, but that Bo obviously loved someone else. Liz told Hope she noticed she was spending a lot of time with Larry but hadn’t said she loved him. Hope suggested she could learn to love Larry. Liz warned Hope to be careful of being so afraid of getting hurt that she didn’t allow herself to love someone. As Liz and Al were leaving, Serge Anatol arrived. Liz introduced him to Al as the Russian conductor who would be conducting the orchestra music during Melissa’s ballet performance.

Thanks Dr Chip! Liz is one of a kind. I miss the musical talent that used to be on Days.

Hope regretted that she wasn’t going with Larry to Las Vegas, especially when he teased her that he would be enjoying some sun and mingling with celebrities. Hope began to have second thoughts about going to the benefit concert, and Larry was hoping she would change her mind. A reporter called Alex and asked him to verify that he would be giving away a check for $1 million at the concert. Alex said it was true, hung up, and then wondered how he was going to come up with the money. Unable to find a date, Alex decided to take his new maid – Pete’s sister, Tess – to the concert. Abe planned to go to the concert, and Eugene and Bo were ready to search the city for Roman. Eugene had another vision of computers. Abe was insistent that Marlena should attend the concert so that she could be seen and protected, but Marlena worried Roman might try to contact her and she could miss his call. Stefano watched the conversation via his monitor and ordered Andre to do whatever was necessary to get Marlena to the concert, so that she would be able to share the stage with her husband. Stefano told Petrov to wake Roman, who had been given a sedative. Petrov told Roman to wake up, so he wouldn’t miss his own death or Marlena’s. Andre was nervous and started to take a drink, but Delia warned him to take things seriously, as this was the final act. Andre called Stefano’s plan “theatrical garbage,” but Delia reminded him that the two of them would never have to speak again after tonight. Andre remarked that he and Anna would be in a castle in Spain, but later Delia laughed, saying Andre only thought he would be going away with Anna.

Carlo was hoping to hang out with Hope at the concert, but she told him she wouldn’t be able to go. Liz was surprised, but Hope rushed out with no explanation. Neil delivered flowers to Liz and told her the evening was going to be a huge success. Liz was nervous but excited about sharing the stage with Al Jarreau. Hope called Alice from the airport and told her that she was going to Las Vegas to surprise Larry, but that they were going to have separate rooms. Alice was not happy and blurted this out in front of Bo, who said he had to focus on finding Roman right now. Andre arrived and wanted to go over Marlena’s speech. Marlena tried to back out, but Andre reminded her that the big check was for the new psychiatric wing at the hospital. With Bo and Abe’s encouragement, Marlena agreed to go to the concert. Per Stefano’s order, Petrov delivered a box to one of his goons. The man went to the concert hall, opened a trap door on the stage, let himself down, and then planted a bomb.

Hope surprised Larry in Las Vegas. He was thrilled that she joined him, and he planned to spoil her and teach her about gambling. Hope flirted with Larry. Alex found a dress for Tess, who was not thrilled about attending the concert with him. Alex was still worried about not having $1 million. Stefano told Petrov it was time, and Petrov prepared Roman to leave. Roman asked where they were going, and Petrov answered, “To the final act of your life.” A phony security guard knocked out another guard and dragged him away. Anna told Tony that she would not let him die. Andre arrived and announced that Tony would die tonight, along with Roman and Marlena, and that he and Anna would be going to Spain together. Andre told Tony that Roman Brady would kill his wife. Petrov drove while Roman asked questions. Petrov told Roman that Marlena would be killed at the penthouse, and that he would be watching by monitor. Andre called Marlena, who was practicing her speech, and asked her to meet him at the penthouse instead of him picking her up at her house; Marlena agreed. Serge Anatol, the Russian conductor, arrived, but was not taking questions from reporters. May used the baka to activate the timer on the bomb, which was connected to a metronome. Watching her was Stefano, disguised as Serge Anatol.

Liz, Neil, and Carlo arrived at the concert, and Liz was interviewed by the media. Melissa, Mickey, and Maggie arrived next, and the attention turned to Melissa. Speed called Pete and told him that the Vipers needed him for some action later that night. Pete lied that he was sick and had to go home. Speed warned him not to be lying to him. Melissa wondered where Pete was. Andre called Eugene and Bo and impersonated Roman; he pretended to be deserted in a ditch outside of town. Bo went to find Roman, and Eugene headed to the penthouse after finding a note that said Marlena was going to meet Tony there. Alex was drinking from a flask and a little tipsy when interviewed before the concert. Marie showed up with Howie, who had given her a ride in his convertible and messed up her hair. Howie wouldn’t leave Marie alone. Marlena arrived at the penthouse and was greeted by Delia. Andre said goodbye to Tony and Anna. Tony warned him that he would be a dead man. Andre admitted that Stefano wasn’t calling all of the shots and that he was in charge now. He said he even had a plan for Stefano. Chris attended the concert with Gwen since Sandy was still in England, and they both were surprised to see Tess with Alex. Chris had asked Tess to the concert, and she had said no; Tess told him that she changed her mind. Eugene was headed to the penthouse but had more visions of computers. He decided that Roman was going to contact him on the police computer, so he turned the car around and headed to the police station. The Vipers began break-dancing outside of the concert hall. Tom had some amusing comments about what they were doing, but Alice recognized it as break-dancing and said they were very good. Alice was surprised to see Tess with Alex, and Chris and Tess exchanged looks.

Petrov was driving Roman when a tire blew out. Roman managed to untie himself, hit Petrov, and make a run for it. Petrov phoned May and told her to tell Stefano that the tire blew out on cue and Roman was on his way to the penthouse. Hope and Larry continued to flirt in Las Vegas. They left to go to a casino, not realizing they were being watched by Nick. Eugene went to the police station and asked to use a computer. He told the officer on duty that he was expecting a message from Roman, who was alive but had been held prisoner by Stefano. The officer, thinking Eugene was crazy, allowed him to use the computer, but then called someone else and asked him to come pick up Eugene. Marlena was anxious about being late to the concert, but Delia and Andre continued to stall her. Anna tried shouting for Marlena, but Tony told her to save her energy; the room was soundproof and Marlena couldn’t hear her. When Marlena became insistent about leaving, Delia spilled wine on her dress.

Tom and Alice, Neil and Carlo, and Gwen and Chris took their seats at the concert hall. Chris couldn’t figure out why Tess went to the concert with Alex after turning down his invitation. Stefano explained his plan to May. Now that the bomb was set, only the baka could deactivate it. If Andre succeeded in killing Roman and Marlena, the bomb would be deactivated and the Salemites could go home to their beds. If Andre failed, the bomb would go off 20 minutes after the concert and Salem would feel it. Stefano assured May that they would have plenty of time to escape before that happened. Stefano called Delia to tell her Roman was on the way. He was pleased to hear that Marlena had been detained and reminded her not to give away their secret – that Stefano had special plans for Andre after the final act. Roman hailed a taxi, but the driver flipped when he recognized Roman. Roman knocked the guy out and stole the taxi in an effort to get to Marlena. Chris cornered Tess, who told him Alex pretty much dragged her to the event. Marie returned from the powder room, and Howie asked if she “fell in.” Abe told Howie that Bo was trying to find Roman. Eugene called Abe and told him that he was at the station. Abe decided to look for Marlena inside the concert hall. Since Tony was late, a nervous Alex took another sip from his flask and prepared to make the opening speech.

Abe called Delia, who lied that Marlena was already on her way to the concert hall. Delia and Andre then lied to Marlena that the car was being fixed and was not ready yet. Roman arrived at the penthouse as he heard sirens in the distance. Nick spied on Hope and Larry at the casino. Alex opened the concert and introduced Liz, who started the show by singing “Even Now.”

Roman got to the penthouse, but no one was there. He found a sign saying “The Game Is Not Over Yet,” then heard recordings of “Marlena” calling for his help. Roman went through the penthouse as Stefano laughed while watching the monitor. Petrov arrived, and he and May watched along with Stefano. Stefano spoke via the monitor to Anna and Tony and told them that Roman was there looking for Marlena, who had already left. Two police officers were waiting for psychiatric personnel to pick up Eugene; meanwhile, Eugene had another vision of a computer as well as two people (Tony and Anna) in a room. Nick continued to spy on Larry and Hope. He phoned Diane in Salem and told her to find out why Larry was in Las Vegas. At the concert, Liz introduced Billy Vera. Billy and the Beaters performed as the bomb continued ticking away. Tony and Anna were able to hear Roman kick in a door at the penthouse.

At the concert, Liz introduced four-time Grammy winner Al Jarreau, who sang “Trouble in Paradise.” Hope and Larry watched the concert on a TV in Larry’s hotel room in Las Vegas. Hope asked what kind of people Larry was meeting in Las Vegas, and he told her he was meeting with powerful movers and shakers who could help him get to the White House one day. Stefano told May to open the wall to the secret room, and Anna and Tony shouted for help. Roman found them, and they both warned him that Marlena was about to be killed.

Billy and the Beaters sang again at the concert. Delia cut the phone line inside Tony’s penthouse before leaving. Roman found the key to Tony and Anna’s shackles. Stefano appeared on the monitor and revealed that Andre was the Salem Slasher. He then told Roman that Andre would kill Marlena during her closing speech before thousands of people at the concert hall. Roman left the key with Tony and Anna, then dashed off to save Marlena. At the police station, Eugene had a vision of Marlena in danger. Abe was happy to see Marlena at the concert hall and told her that Bo had gone to pick up Roman outside of town. Marlena and Andre took their seats behind Tom and Alice. Maggie wished Melissa luck before her dance performance.

Al Jarreau sang “After All.” In Las Vegas, Larry wined and dined Hope in his hotel room. Back in Salem, Tom addressed the audience and asked Marlena to take a bow. Then he asked Tony and Alex to go onstage and take bows. Andre and Alex took their bows, and Alex was still drinking when he was told to go out and introduce the mayor. Liz was excited and told Tony (Andre) she couldn’t wait for the finale. “Neither can I,” he said. Back in the dungeon, Tony and Anna were unable to remove their shackles. Tony decided to try using Stefano’s computer, but it was just outside of his reach. Anna started screaming that they were going to die, and Tony told her to shut up.

Roman drove the taxi to a payphone and called the concert hall. Someone put him on hold but didn’t return to the phone. Roman drove some more, but the engine died. He took off on foot. Liz joined Billy Vera on stage, and the two of them sang “Storybook Children.” Tony was able to reach the computer keyboard, and he typed a message and sent it to the police station. Eugene saw the message on the computer screen: “Stefano DiMera will kill Marlena Brady at the concert tonight. Come to the DiMera penthouse and free us. . . . Tony DiMera.” Before Eugene could leave, two police officers and a psychiatrist showed up to talk with him. He finally dropped a canister that sent smoke through the room, and Eugene escaped. Russian conductor Serge Anatol was told it was time to go onstage. On the way to the penthouse, Eugene phoned the concert hall and spoke with a security guard. He told him to tell Abe that Stefano was going to kill Marlena during the concert, and that he was on his way to the DiMera penthouse. The guard promised to relay the message. After the guard hung up, Abe arrived and asked if everything was all right. The “guard” said everything was fine.

Liz announced that Melissa would be dancing and Serge Anatol would be conducting the orchestra during the “Sleeping Beauty Waltz.” Melissa began to dance as Stefano, disguised as Serge Anatol, conducted the orchestra. Meanwhile, the bomb continued to tick underneath the stage. During the performance, Andre teased Alex about being nervous. He asked if Alex had the $1 million check to give away, and Alex assured him that he did. Andre smiled and told Alex it was so nice of him to give away Renee’s inheritance. Marlena found Abe and asked if he had heard anything from Bo or Roman. Abe said no, but he guessed they decided to stay away. Marlena worried it could be a trap. Abe reminded Marlena that Howie and Eugene were out there, too. Marlena worried even more when she learned no one had heard from Eugene. Abe told Marlena to go back inside and enjoy the concert. Marlena said she wished the concert were over. After his performance, Stefano returned to his dressing room and laughed about fooling everyone. He told May he should have been a conductor, then asked for a cigarette and a glass of strega. He kissed May, then told her to join Delia and wait for him. May left. The fake security guard warned Stefano about Eugene’s phone call. Stefano phoned Petrov and told him that Eugene was on his way to the penthouse. Petrov smiled and said, “So am I.” Hope and Larry danced in his hotel room.

Carlo complimented Melissa on her dance performance as a jealous Pete listened in. A photographer took a photo of Carlo and Melissa and asked for Carlo’s name. He told the photographer to focus only on Melissa and didn’t want to give his name, so Pete told the photographer the guy’s name was Carlo Forenza. Carlo was angry at Pete. Roman phoned the police station and told an officer that he was Roman Brady and that Stefano DiMera was going to kill Marlena at the concert hall. The officer thought it was Eugene calling and hung up the phone. Eugene arrived at the penthouse and found Tony and Anna. He started to free them. Petrov entered the penthouse with his gun drawn. Howie was waiting for Bo outside the concert hall when Bo arrived on his motorcycle. Bo told Howie he didn’t find Roman. Howie told Bo something was wrong and that they needed to check the place out. Liz congratulated Melissa on her performance, then prepared for her final number. Tony told Eugene that Roman was on his way to save Marlena. Anna asked Eugene to hurry because Andre might return and kill them. Eugene asked who Andre was, and Tony explained that Andre was his cousin, the Salem Slasher, who had been impersonating him. Eugene freed Tony and Anna, and the three of them were about to run out the door when Petrov pulled a gun on them and told them to freeze.

Petrov forced Anna to dial a number for him. She handed the phone to him, and he spoke to Stefano, telling him that he was holding a gun on Tony, Anna, and Eugene. He asked if Stefano wanted him to go ahead and kill them now. Stefano told him to wait until he gave him the signal, after the end of the concert when he would be on his way out of town. Petrov warned Stefano that it was dangerous to keep them alive, but Stefano warned Petrov that it was even more dangerous for Petrov to disobey him. Stefano told Petrov to inform the hostages that they had one hour left. Stefano hung up, then informed Andre that Petrov would kill Tony. Andre asked if he would still be able to take Anna to Spain with him, and Stefano assured him that he would. At the benefit concert, Liz took the microphone and rocked the house with “Quiet, Please, There’s a Lady on Stage.”

Hope tried to seduce Larry in Las Vegas, but he told her he would only make love with her if she told him she loved him. Hope told Larry she wasn’t ready to say that. Larry told Hope to put on some jeans and meet him in a few minutes, then left her alone in the room. Hope fantasized about making love with Bo. Two cheating spouses got into an argument outside of a vehicle as Roman hid nearby. Bo and Howie broke the news to Abe that Roman was nowhere to be found. Stefano’s men phoned him to let him know Abe, Bo, and Howie were acting like “schoolkids” and were clueless. Andre picked up his knife as Stefano told him it was time to get ready to kill Marlena. Alex was still drinking, and Marlena tried to get him to stop. She asked if he had the $1 million check, and he said he did. When Marlena wasn’t looking, Alex tried to leave the check at the bar. Unfortunately for him, the honest bartender called him back and handed him the check. Outside the auditorium, Chris and Tess bumped into each other again. He bought her a glass of wine and told her she looked beautiful. Neil congratulated Liz on the success of the concert and kissed her one last time before she had to prepare for the big finale. Larry told Hope he was driving her to the desert but wouldn’t say why. The cheating spouses continued fighting, and Roman sneaked into the back seat of the man’s car. The couple finally got in the car, and the man started driving.

Anna begged Petrov for a glass of water. When he finally gave in, she threw the water in his face and tried to make a run for it. Petrov grabbed her by the arm and threatened to kill her. Anna blamed the idea on Eugene and Tony. Petrov told them that they would not stop Andre from killing Marlena and Roman; he also informed them that if Andre’s plan failed, Stefano would blow up the concert hall and everyone in it. Andre started getting nervous about the plan and suggested that he go ahead and kill Marlena. Stefano got angry and told him to wait until it was time, because he wanted Roman to be there when Andre (impersonating Roman) killed Marlena. Andre suggested Roman might not make it there, but Stefano knew he would. Andre didn’t understand why the metronome was ticking, and Stefano didn’t tell him about the bomb. Bo was checking out the concert hall when he ran into Melissa. She wanted to tell him about a conversation she had with Hope earlier, but Bo wasn’t interested. Carlo caught up to Melissa, who asked why he didn’t want his picture in the paper. Carlo admitted it was because of the trouble he had in South America. He told her he wanted to keep a low profile, but he refused to discuss it further while in such a public place. The cheating couple got out of the car, and Roman jumped in the driver’s seat and took off. The taxi driver reported to the police that Roman was alive, and Roman heard sirens as he raced toward the concert hall. Larry took Hope to the desert to gaze at stars. Larry made a wish on a shooting star, and Hope realized he was wishing for her to fall in love with him. Roman increased his speed as the police were getting closer. Stefano overheard a stage manager preparing for the finale, and he told Andre, “It is time.”

Liz and Al Jarreau teamed up again and sang “Take Me to the Pilot.” Petrov wanted to watch the finale on TV, and Eugene offered to turn on the TV with his remote control. Eugene activated his cleaning robot, which started short-circuiting and shooting out sparks. Petrov ordered Eugene to stop the robot. Liz and Al Jarreau finished the last song, which meant Marlena would be the next one to take the stage.

Eugene’s robot was not enough of a distraction, and Petrov still managed to hold Eugene, Tony, and Anna at gunpoint. Marlena gave her speech and introduced Alex, who tripped on his way onto the stage. Alex was close to being drunk and gave a long-winded speech that included how wonderful Renee was. Gwen commented to Chris that that wasn’t the Renee she knew. After Alex concluded his speech and started to leave, Marlena stopped him because the check was unsigned. Alex signed the check on Marlena’s back as Andre, dressed as Roman, made his way down a corridor toward the stage. Meanwhile, Roman finally arrived at the concert hall and fought off several of Stefano’s thugs. He was chased through a parking garage by several men, but Bo arrived on his motorcycle and helped fight them off. Bo headed one direction, and Roman went the other one.

Andre (impersonating Roman) ran out on the stage with his knife and lunged at Marlena. A drunken Alex got in the way, and Andre tripped and fell. He dropped his knife, then gave up and escaped through the trap door. Maggie and Mickey frantically searched for Melissa as Neil ran off to find Liz. The audience started panicking, and Chris told everyone to calm down and quickly move out the doors to the reception area. He told them not to leave and not to move their cars, because security would have everything under control. Stefano was livid and confronted Andre, calling him a "blithering idiot." Stefano vowed to blow Andre to hell with everyone else. He then revealed that he never planned to let Andre get away, because he was going to get revenge against Andre for murdering Renee. Andre tried to make a run for it, but Stefano’s goon stopped him. A stage manager pointed Marlena to an old prop room that hadn’t been used in a while. Bo asked Neil to stay with Marlena, and Neil agreed. Liz went back to the stage to help direct some of the people to the right exits. As Marlena and Neil opened the door to the prop room, Andre rushed out. Bo got in his way, so Andre punched him in the gut and took off. Bo chased after him. Marlena told Neil that that wasn’t Roman. She explained that Roman was alive but innocent, and that he had been framed by Stefano, who also was alive. Marlena asked Neil to go find Abe, and she promised to lock the door. Neil left, and Marlena locked the door. When she turned around, Stefano was there. “We meet again, lovely lady,” he said. “For the last time, I hope.” Stefano’s goon grabbed Marlena and wouldn’t let her leave. “Stefano, you’re insane,” she said. “Ah, why does everybody jump to the conclusion, simply because I am more clever than they, that automatically that makes me insane, hmm? Do you have an answer to that, my lovely psychiatrist?” “I’m not your lovely anything,” Marlena retorted. “You’re my lovely prisoner.” “Where’s my husband?” “Somewhere in the city.” “You don’t even know, do you?” “Well, we had a perfectly nice ruse to lure him here to the concert hall. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. Now, would you please sit down?” “No, I don’t want to sit down. I want to know where Roman is.” “I said SIT! Now. You’re not going to leave this room, Marlena. In fact, it’s very possible that many people are not going to leave this concert hall. But we still have a little time.” The bomb continued to tick. At the penthouse, Petrov shot the robot. Anna tried to sweet-talk Petrov, and then she and Tony staged a fight about her believing Andre was Tony. Eugene sneaked around to the remote control, but Petrov caught him and told him not to move.

In Las Vegas, Larry serenaded Hope under the stars. At the Salem Concert Hall, Roman and Andre met up on the stage and began to fight. Abe appeared but couldn’t tell which one was Roman. Both men claimed to be Roman, but Roman pulled Andre’s wig off. Andre ran away. Abe fired shots at him but missed. Chris calmed the crowd, and Gwen was impressed. Mickey, Maggie, and Marie couldn’t believe Roman tried to kill Marlena. Alex gave interviews to reporters about being the hero of the night. Marlena asked Stefano not to hurt her and told him she was pregnant. Neil returned and knocked on the door. Stefano told Marlena to send him away or Neil would be killed. Marlena tried to make Neil keep looking for Abe, but Neil refused out of concern for her. The goon grabbed Marlena and re-locked the door as Stefano stepped forward and confronted Neil. The two had words as Neil realized Stefano was behind all of the murders. He told Stefano that he wasn’t afraid of him and reminded him that he failed the last time he tried to kill him. Neil called Stefano “a maniac” and “evil,” and Stefano laughed at the word “evil,” seeing as how Neil married that “****,” Stefano’s ex-daughter-in-law, Liz. Neil lunged at Stefano, and the goon hit Neil over the head with a gun. Abe warned Roman not to let anyone see him, or he could be shot and killed. Roman agreed to hide up on the catwalk and asked Abe to make sure Bo didn’t get hurt.

Anna and Tony continued to argue. Eugene finally got the remote and activated the robot, which started smoking. Petrov fired his gun, hit a glass, and caused a secret compartment to open up. Anna started squealing when she saw what was in the compartment – Daphne’s jewels! Anna put a necklace around her neck and a bracelet on her arm as Tony grabbed the gun. Eugene called the police station and told them there was a bomb at the concert hall, but the officer figured out it was him and hung up on him. The officer then decided to call Abe, just to be safe. Marlena asked Stefano not to kill all those people. Liz arrived and wanted to talk to Neil. Marlena lied that Neil went back to the reception and asked Liz to leave so she could lie down. Liz left. Stefano’s thug alerted him that the others were still looking for Andre and would make sure he didn’t get away from Stefano. Tess was annoyed when she saw Alex hitting on all the female reporters, so she left. Gwen told Chris to go after her, so he did. Chris talked to Tess, who asked if Sandy was Chris’s fiancée. He said no. Alex flirted with Gwen, who told him that she didn’t go out with men who were broke. Gwen asked what Alex would do when his check bounced, but Alex smiled, patted his coat pocket, and told her they would have to find it first.

In the desert, Larry sang to Hope. She kissed him. On the way to the concert hall, Anna asked if Tony meant the things he said to her while they were fighting in front of Andre. He told her he didn’t. Marlena asked Stefano what the metronome was for. Stefano toyed with Marlena, who asked him, "When you were a little boy, did you pull the wings off flies? Or were you ever a little boy?” Stefano told Marlena the metronome was connected to a bomb. “You’re going to blow up the concert hall? With all those innocent people?” “Not all innocent.” “Stefano, please, I’m begging you. Please stop it.” “Well, you see, the special thing about this metronome is that once it gets started, it can never be stopped. Now, if the bomb squad were to discover this device, they could never deactivate it.” “The baka!” “Yes. The baka. It is the only thing that can turn this metronome off. The baka. The very spirit of my revenge – revenge against those who have hurt me.” “But why?!” “Why?! You, of all people, ask me why?! You, whose husband was a stumbling block when I tried to build my empire?!” “He was more than a stumbling block for you! He outwitted you!” “Outwitted me?! Ha!” “He stopped you cold, and you know it!” “Temporarily.” “And he’ll do it again!” Stefan told Marlena that his plan was foolproof this time. "What’s that? To kill Roman and hundreds of innocent people?” “Innocent people? No. Roman? Yes.” “And you think that will get you your empire. Is that it?” “It isn’t what I think. It’s what I know. You see, originally Salem was going to be my base of operations. Now it seems that it’s not feasible, so I will operate from my island paradise.” “Why this thirst for power?” “If you have never tasted the nectar of power, my dear doctor, you will never know. There is nothing like it. Besides, it is my destiny.” Marlena reminded Stefano that others thought that way and failed, but Stefano reminded her that they were madmen. "If I were mad, would I say it? Or could I say it? No, my dear doctor. You see, only a sane man can say that he is mad." Stefano told Marlena that he was on his way out of Salem, "and I anticipate a very pleasant journey. And, you know, I certainly hope that you also have a pleasant journey.” “Stefano, please. I’m begging you. Please stop this now.” “Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Please, do not despair. My dear good doctor, perhaps your husband, the stalwart and brave Sergeant Brady, will come riding in on his white horse and save you at the 11th hour. If the police don’t shoot him first.” Tony, Anna, and Eugene ran around the concert hall, letting people know there was a bomb in the building. Tony, knowing Stefano would never let Andre escape, went to find his cousin. Roman met up with Abe and Eugene, and they talked about the bomb and the need to find Stefano. Some Salem PD officers showed up and pulled their guns on Roman. Abe jumped in the way and yelled at them not to shoot!

Larry continued singing to Hope, and she didn’t want to leave their late-night desert picnic. Back in Salem, Melissa was unable to find Maggie and Liz was still looking for Neil. Alice was relieved to hear from Liz that Marlena was in a safe place. Alex continued to consume liquor and embarrassed his “business partner,” Melissa, in front of a reporter. Marlena yelled for Bo. Abe prevented the officers from shooting Roman. He told them to trust them, and that he would take responsibility for Roman, but that they were to find “Tony.” Roman, Bo, and Abe found Marlena and Neil. Roman freed Marlena, who was tied to a chair, and she told him about the bomb and how the baka was the only way to deactivate it. The bomb continued ticking underneath the stage. Andre hid behind the curtain as Tony and Anna walked onstage. Tony told Anna to leave, but she refused to leave him. Tony vowed to kill Andre with his bare hands. Abe helped Neil wake up, and Marlena told Abe that Stefano had the baka and was disguised as Serge Anatol. Abe and Bo left to look for Stefano and the baka. Marlena told them that they had to use the baka on the metronome to disarm the bomb. Roman and Bo left together, and Marlena helped Neil to his feet so they could leave. Petrov met up with Stefano and reported that Eugene’s robot exploded and distracted him. Stefano told Petrov they would have to take care of him later, because Delia was on her way with the car. Petrov told Stefano he was going back to take care of Eugene personally. Stefano warned Petrov that if he was not there when Delia arrived, he would be left behind. Petrov told him if that happened, he would meet him on the island. Eugene was looking for the bomb when a police officer stopped him and told him to leave. Eugene punched the officer in the face and knocked him out. Alex was still getting sloshed when he pulled Melissa aside to talk about Anderson Manufacturing. He told Melissa he believed she had a career in dance and encouraged her to dump her shares of stock. Melissa told him he would have to discuss that with Mickey. Alex then asked if she would be interested in buying him out. Melissa told him to talk to her dad. Alice and Liz learned that the police were letting people leave through the front doors but not through the parking area. Liz was worried that she still couldn’t find Neil.

Roman wanted to warn everyone about the bomb, but Abe warned Roman that the people would panic if they saw him. Roman decided to search the third floor for Stefano, and Abe addressed the crowd. He asked everyone to leave but to stay away from the parking lot. He told them to leave calmly and quickly, and not to panic, but to get as far away from the building as they could. Hope and Larry packed up their stuff and prepared to head back to the hotel. Larry told Hope he admired her enthusiasm for life. Eugene continued to search for the bomb as Petrov aimed a gun at his back. Andre confronted Tony and Anna while holding two swords. He threw one to Tony, and the two began to fight a duel. Tony told Anna to get out of the way, but she wouldn’t leave his side. Both Tony and Andre were injured in the fight, and both men collapsed onstage. Anna started screaming, “Well, where is everybody?!” Abe continued to direct people outside, but he refused to allow anyone to go to the parking lot and get their vehicles. Melissa was upset that she couldn’t find Maggie, and Carlo helped get her outside. Abe told Alex there was a bomb in the building, and Liz overheard. Abe told Liz that Neil was all right, but that he had an accident in the prop room. Liz ran back inside. Alex, with drink in hand, hid until the place cleared out. Then he headed for the parking lot, commenting that he was in no condition to walk all the way home.

Eugene turned and saw Petrov, who prepared to shoot. Eugene yelled, “Roman, look out!” Petrov turned around, and Eugene hit him over the back of the head. Petrov collapsed, and Eugene took his gun. Roman and Bo split up, and Bo headed for the parking lot. Liz found Marlena and was shocked to see Neil slumped over with blood running down his face. Marlena told Liz that Stefano was alive and had planted a bomb in the concert hall. Neil passed out again, and Liz told Marlena to leave them there. Marlena refused to leave them. Stefano exited the building, got in a waiting limo, and was driven away as police officers followed him in hot pursuit. Meanwhile, Delia called Stefano, who was still inside the building, and told him that the decoy had done his job. Petrov joined Stefano and told him that Eugene got away. Stefano told him that Eugene would die with the others, and not to worry about him any longer. A drunken Alex stumbled out of the building and wandered through the parking garage. Stefano and Petrov left the building, and the real limo arrived. Stefano got inside as Bo ran up and started yelling at him. Petrov shot Bo, got in the car, and took off. Roman, Abe, and Eugene hurried outside, and Petrov tried to shoot Roman but missed. Stefano told Petrov to get out of there. Roman and Abe talked about the metronome that controlled the bomb and could only be disarmed with the baka. Eugene revealed that he had the baka, because he made a duplicate copy a long time ago. Eugene headed for the prop room, and Roman and Abe found a wounded Bo. A media helicopter landed on the roof, and Roman and Abe decided to use it to chase Stefano. Petrov and Stefano were speeding away when Alex popped up in the back seat and started talking to them. Alex congratulated Mr. Anatol on a job well done, then realized that the conductor was really Stefano. In Las Vegas, Nick was hanging out at the bar when Hope and Larry arrived at the hotel restaurant. They just missed hearing about the action in Salem on the hotel TV. Larry teased Hope about leaving her in jail in Las Vegas if she got caught gambling at her young age. Hope was impressed at the depth of Larry’s interest in her. Abe and Roman took over the media helicopter, and Roman flew it above Salem in pursuit of Stefano. Eugene joined Marlena, Liz, and Neil and announced that he had the baka. Eugene then dropped the baka in a box of props. He and Marlena dug through all the junk, and he found it again. Eugene was able to disarm the bomb with only seconds to spare. Liz and Neil were in shock about Stefano being alive, and Marlena hoped that Stefano could be stopped this time.

Roman and Abe spotted Stefano’s car from the helicopter and began to move in on him. In the car, Alex confronted Stefano about stealing the money he inherited from Renee, which she had inherited from Stefano. Alex said he loved Renee, and Stefano became furious. “Don’t you lie about something that is so sacred to me. You know that she meant more to me than anything else in the world.” Said Alex, “She was terrific, she was terrific.” “She was a jewel, and you took her life away from her.” Alex denied any responsibility, but Stefano interrupted him. “Shut up, you scum! You took advantage of her! You brought her into your house! You slept with her for her inheritance! And then, when she found out about your lousy, rotten scheme, she turned to Tony, Andre killed her . . . so it’s your fault that she is dead, Alex. Your fault, do you understand me? And you’re going to pay, pay, pay! I hope you rot in boiling hell.” Alex still couldn’t understand how Stefano could be alive, then realized that he paid off the doctors, the nurses, and others, then had them killed off one by one. “I survived, and that’s all that counts,” said Stefano. “And I’m going to survive this, too.” Alex reminded Stefano that they worked together in the past and could do so again. Alex told Stefano he could help get him out of this mess. Stefano laughed at Alex, noticed the helicopter getting closer, and told Petrov to step on it. Bo was loaded onto an ambulance and rushed to the hospital. In Las Vegas, Nick approached Hope and asked what she was doing in Las Vegas. She told him she was attending a political convention. He asked if she was a political groupie, and she said she was something like that. He wished her luck at the tables and hurried off when Larry returned. Larry gave Hope a ring and asked her to marry him. Marlena, Eugene, Liz, and Neil briefly spoke with reporters but couldn’t give any details. Tony was wheeled out on a gurney, and Anna was by his side. Tony told Marlena he wanted her to know that he never hurt anybody. Then Andre was wheeled out, and Marlena, Liz, and Neil were in shock to see Tony’s look-alike cousin. Andre called out for Anna, but she ignored him. Roman and Abe began to close in on Stefano. Alex grabbed a gun, and Stefano fought him for the gun. Petrov was distracted and drove the car through a railing and off a bridge. The car, with Petrov, Stefano, and Alex inside, zoomed off the bridge and plunged into the Salem River!

Marlena and Eugene fled from a flock of reporters and went to Don’s house. They told him that Stefano planted a bomb at the concert hall and that Roman had been after him for some time. Don thought they were both hallucinating. Roman and Abe watched from the helicopter as Stefano’s car went off a bridge and into the Salem River. When no one came up from the water, Roman told Abe to alert River Patrol. Marlena and Eugene explained to Don that Stefano and Roman were alive. Eugene called the police station to get information on Roman, but they hung up on him again. Don turned on the TV, and a reporter announced that Bo had been shot. The reporters pressed against Don’s door. Alex survived the car crash and was splashing around in the water, yelling for help. Roman and Abe arrived on the pier, and some officers put handcuffs on Roman. The commissioner arrived, and Abe told him that Roman was innocent. The police helped get Alex to shore as he yelled about sharks. “In the Salem River?!” asked Roman. Howie became agitated because the hospital was short-staffed. He worried when a woman doctor was assigned to Bo’s case. Anna asked Neil to take care of Tony. Howie asked Neil to check on Bo. Marie tried to console Howie, who was scared that Bo was seriously injured. Neil told a nurse to get the operating room ready, then rushed Bo into surgery.

Once Alex was fished out of the river, he lied that he saw Stefano and Petrov getting away and jumped in the car to stop them. The commissioner ordered that Roman be taken to the police station, in handcuffs. Marlena apologized to Don for lying to him about Roman. Don called the police station and learned Roman was under arrest. Don, Marlena, and Eugene fought the reporters and left to go to the police station. Chris wanted to go to the hospital to see Bo, but only family was allowed. Chris hung out with Tess at a closed Shenanigans. Eugene interrupted them and asked for a drink – an orange soda. In Las Vegas, Larry asked Hope to take seriously his marriage proposal and told her that he loved her.

Marlena and Don arrived at the police station, and Marlena told the commissioner to take the handcuffs off Roman. The commissioner told Marlena that she was under arrest, too. Don promised that they would work everything out, as Roman and Marlena began kissing each other. Howie called Bo’s parents to let them know what was going on. Marie was shocked to see Alex being wheeled into the hospital. He was soaking wet, and asking for either antibiotics or champagne. Anna walked up to hear Alex call himself a hero. He said he nabbed Stefano before ending up in the Salem River. Howie went to make a phone call, Marie couldn’t believe that Stefano was alive, and Anna reminded Alex that if Stefano never died, Renee didn’t inherit Stefano’s money. That meant that Stefano wasn’t stealing millions from Alex, because Alex didn’t have anything.

Neil told Anna that Tony was waking up, but he wanted to make sure she was confident which man was Tony and which was Andre. Anna assured Neil that the man he helped was Tony. Neil told Anna that all of the records they have indicated that the other man was Tony DiMera. Anna suggested that Stefano forged the records. She went in to see Tony, who asked if Stefano had been caught. She told him not yet. Tony then asked if he killed Andre, and she told him no. Tony became very upset and was in considerable pain. Anna promised Tony that Andre would not get away with what he had done. In the other room, Andre woke up, remembered the duel with Tony, grimaced in pain, and decided he had to get out of there. Eugene couldn’t believe that Stefano had Trista killed for asking a couple of questions. Chris realized that Eugene was not the father of Marlena’s baby. Tess suggested that she, Chris, and Eugene go watch the police search the river for Stefano. Chris said he wanted to be there when they caught Stefano. Abe announced that May Chin was arrested at the airport, and she turned over evidence implicating Stefano and exonerating Roman. The commissioner dropped the charges against Roman. Abe told Roman to take two days off, then hurry back to the station. Don suggested that Roman and Marlena should see Bo.

Chris, Eugene, and Tess watched the police work off the pier. Chris told Eugene that Gwen had been asking about him all night and encouraged him to call her. Chris and Tess noticed a seaplane preparing to land in the river. Hope told herself that she couldn’t tell Larry she loved him until she meant it. She turned on the television and heard a news report about Stefano’s bomb and Roman being alive, Tony being injured, and Andre being Tony’s double. Hope ran to Larry’s door and pounded on it, telling him that Stefano and Roman were alive and that Roman had been arrested. Larry told Hope to get packed so they could hurry back to Salem. Hope was excited that Roman was alive. Bo was taken out of surgery, and Marie told Marlena and Roman that his condition was more serious than they expected. Neil told them that Bo lost a lot of blood, but that they were hoping he would recover. Marie offered to take Howie and Eugene out for breakfast, but Howie had to go to Bo’s room and look in on “the kid” from the door. Bo awoke as Roman and Marlena were visiting him. He asked about Stefano; Roman said they didn’t find him, but they caught one of his girlfriends who was telling all. Roman thanked Bo for saving his life, Marlena’s life, and their baby’s life. They told him they would be back in the morning, then left. Bo started crying out in pain, and his monitor started beeping. Neil rushed in, then told a nurse to prep Bo for more emergency surgery.

Despite Anna’s objections, Tony got out of bed and went down the hall to Andre’s room. He wanted to kill Andre, but Anna, Alex, and hospital personnel made him sit back down. Andre contended that he was Tony, and Anna called him a liar. As Hope packed to return to Salem, Larry read in the newspaper that Bo was shot. Larry got rid of the paper, refused to let Hope turn on the TV, and discouraged her from calling Marlena. Larry told Hope he wanted to take care of her and would do anything to make her marry him. Tony refused to leave Andre’s room until his cousin was arrested, but Abe arrived and said that no one would be arrested until they could determine for certain which man was the real Tony and which one was the real Andre.

Abe asked Neil about Bo going back into surgery. Neil said that Bo had lost a lot of blood, but said he was worried about the anesthesia’s effect on Bo in his weakened condition. Neil asked Abe to find Hope, because having her there would give him something to hold onto. Abe asked Neil’s opinion about which cousin was the real Tony, but Neil did not want to guess. Abe suggested they bring in a cat, since one of them was allergic to a cat, but Neil forbade it because of their conditions. Don arrived to represent Tony, and Abe pointed him to one of the rooms. Abe asked a nurse to help him track down Hope Williams. The nurse phoned Larry’s hotel room. Larry answered the phone but sent Hope out of the room on an errand. He told the nurse he would give Hope the message – that Bo had been seriously injured and was asking for her – but then lied and said he was a waiter at the hotel. When Hope returned to the room, Larry didn’t mention the phone call. Tony and Anna continued to demand justice, but Abe said he couldn’t accept her testimony because she lived with the wrong Tony for several months. Andre appeared nervous when Abe said allergy testing at a later date could prove which one was Tony and which was Andre. Tony threatened to kill Andre if the police weren’t able to do something about him. Neil and another doctor worried about Bo’s condition. Bo became frantic when he couldn’t feel his legs. Bo asked Neil not to tell his parents, but Neil told Bo that they had already placed a call and left a message for Hope. Bo asked why Hope was called, and Neil said Bo asked for her while under anesthesia. Neil told Bo that everyone was figuring out why Bo had pushed Hope away, to keep her out of danger during Roman’s investigation. Bo asked Neil if he thought Hope would understand, and Neil said that she would. On the airplane home, Hope loaded up on martinis. Larry told her that she should keep her engagement ring, even if she decided not to marry him; however, if she decided not to marry him, their relationship would be over.

Anna met with Don and Abe over breakfast at the Park Café. Abe and Don remarked about Stefano’s ruthlessness, and Anna worried that Stefano might try to hurt Tony again. Delia, disguised in a blond wig, phoned Andre and told him that, as much as she hated him, she was going to help him escape. Tony explained to Anna that he was thankful for her bravery and her help in escaping from the dungeon, but he told her that he didn’t love her anymore. Anna suggested that she could make Tony love her, and Tony told her that he was not that wimp Andre and she had better never forget it.

Larry took Hope straight to her apartment so that she could sleep off her martinis. Neil told Bo that a bullet fragment put pressure on his spine, causing spinal shock. He told him that they had relieved as much pressure as they could, and now they had to wait for the swelling to go down. Bo asked if he would be able to walk again, but Neil was not able to make that promise. Larry had his secretary go over to Hope’s apartment. He told her to stay with Hope and not let her go anywhere or learn any news about Bo. The secretary asked what to do if Hope woke up. Larry gave her some sleeping pills and told her to give those to Hope. As Larry headed out the door, Hope started moaning “Bo” in her sleep. “Damn,” said Larry.

Roman and Marlena had hoped to spend the morning alone, but the media camped outside their front door and barraged them by ringing the doorbell and calling on the telephone. Roman couldn’t even use the phone, so he sneaked out the back door and went to Tom and Alice’s house. Alice thanked Tom for loving her and for forgiving her for her dual life while helping Roman. Tom told Alice he would have taken down Stefano single-handedly if he had touched one hair on her. Alice worried about Bo, who was not accepting visitors at the hospital. Roman arrived to use the phone and called Abe, who agreed to help get rid of the media. Tom answered his door, and reporter Brenda Carlisle walked past him into the kitchen. She told Roman that she worked for a national magazine and wanted an exclusive interview with the man behind the story. Roman refused, and Alice showed her out. Don and Eugene went to the Brady house, and Eugene told Marlena he was ready to get an annulment. Roman returned and remarked how strange it was that Marlena’s first husband was helping her third husband get an annulment so she could stay happily married to her second husband. Don said they were a close-knit group, and Marlena said she appreciated all her men.

Shawn returned Carrie to Roman and Marlena, and the Bradys had an emotional reunion. Shawn thanked Don and Eugene for helping his son. Shawn told Roman he was very proud of him. Roman reminded Shawn that he should be proud of Bo, too. Shawn said he was, and Roman asked if Shawn had told him that. Shawn said no, and Roman said Shawn needed to tell Bo. Shawn told Roman that Bo was not accepting visitors, and Roman worried that something was up with Bo. Don invited Roman and Marlena to join him and Maggie for dinner at Doug’s Place. Roman and Marlena told Carrie that Marlena was going to have a baby. At Doug’s Place, Roman, Marlena, and Carrie met up with Don, Maggie, Tom, and Alice. A diner asked Roman for his autograph and thanked him for keeping Salem safe. Alice and Maggie suggested to Marlena that Roman should consider agreeing to an interview with a well-respected reporter from a national magazine, but Marlena refused and said Roman needed time to adjust without people probing into his life. Liz prepared to dedicate a song to Roman and Marlena as a strange man stared at Roman from across the room.

Liz sang Roman and Marlena’s song, “Up Where We Belong.” In the middle of the song, Dave motioned to Don that he had a phone call. The song ended, and Don returned to the table. Don announced that the police were transferring Andre to the prison hospital . . . when he escaped!

Roman and Marlena were watching a news report the morning after Andre escaped. Shawn arrived and was angry. He told Roman that Bo was still refusing visitors, and that something was going on at the hospital. Tony learned about Andre and got out of bed. He started yelling for help and said that he was leaving the hospital to stop his cousin. Neil told Tony that he wasn’t going anywhere. Larry called his secretary, who reported that Hope was still sleeping. Larry reminded her that she was not to let Hope find out that Bo was in the hospital. Gardiner Choate arrived to see Larry and explained that the man he expected to meet, Nelson Raleigh, was needed back in Washington. Mr. Choate announced that Larry was in trouble. In the hospital, Bo had a dream that he and Hope were reunited, professing their love for each other, kissing, and dancing. In his dream, he suddenly fell to the floor and couldn’t feel his legs. Hope wanted to help, but he pushed her away. Melissa entered the room as Bo was waking up, and Bo told Melissa to get away from him and to keep everyone else away, too. Bo apologized to Melissa, who went to get Neil. Bo asked Neil if his test results had come back, but Neil reminded Bo that it was going to take some time. Neil encouraged Bo to tell his parents, but Bo refused. Neil asked if Bo wanted to see Hope, and Bo said absolutely not. Hope woke up and was full of questions. The secretary, Flo, disconnected Hope’s television and suggested that she take a shower. She phoned Larry, who told her to stay there until he arrived. Mr. Choate was pleased to hear that Larry had proposed to Hope, but he said Larry’s backers were not happy that he skipped town before the caucus started. He said they were also upset that Larry’s office had been so aggressive toward Roman, who was innocent. Larry promised he would take care of that and warned Choate not to get rough, because he could play rough, too. Roman and Marlena didn’t know why Bo was refusing visitors, so Shawn decided to go to the hospital and force his way in. When he left, Roman decided there was one person Bo would want to see, and that was Hope. Roman picked up the phone, to try to find Hope.

Brenda Carlisle wanted to interview Eugene for her article, but Eugene was not interested. Melissa walked up and ended up telling the reporter that Eugene was a psychic, that he used to put his phone number in a bottle and throw it out to sea, that he started the Lonely Hearts Club, that he had an estate in Haiti, and that he was an inventor. Flo left the room for a minute, and Hope turned on the radio. She heard about Bo being injured and told Flo she had to get to the hospital. At the hospital, Melissa asked Bo why he wasn’t able to have visitors. Bo wouldn’t say but asked Melissa to tell him if any rumors started up about his condition. Melissa assured Bo that Hope and Larry had separate rooms in Las Vegas, but Bo said that didn’t mean anything. Bo said that after two days in the hospital, it was obvious Hope didn’t want to see him. Danny and Diane called the hospital, but only learned that Bo wasn’t allowing visitors. Nick arrived and told Diane that Las Vegas was a bust, because Larry didn’t even meet with the people he was scheduled to meet with. Nick asked about Megan Hathaway, and Diane said she found out that Megan’s father was in Salem. Larry arrived, and Diane went to see him. Larry told her he might need her services later, and Diane reported to Larry that Maxwell Hathaway was in Salem. Larry asked if Megan was there, too, but Diane didn’t know.

Larry arrived and told Hope she couldn’t go to the hospital. Hope told Larry she had to, then went downstairs and asked Danny to drive her to the hospital. Larry arrived and said that Danny would not be driving Hope to the hospital. Danny told Larry to butt out, and Hope told Larry she didn’t want to hurt him but had to do this. When Hope and Danny left, Larry told Diane to go to the hospital and make sure that Hope didn’t get to see Bo. Larry also told her to make sure Hope understood that Megan Hathaway was the one standing in the way of her being with Bo. Melissa told Bo that she was available if he needed to talk, and she hoped he would start seeing his friends and family soon. Shawn arrived to see Bo, but Neil told him Bo was not seeing visitors. Shawn burst into Bo’s room and told him that he wanted to see his son. Bo told Neil it was okay. Roman and Marlena arrived and learned from Neil that Bo, not Neil, was the one requesting no visitors. Neil couldn’t tell them why, though. Eugene visited Tony and apologized for not taking his impressions more seriously. Tony thanked Eugene for saving his life. The two laughed about being third cousins through their great-great-great-grandparents. Eugene asked Tony not to say anything about their being related, because he didn’t want women to find out he had money. He said he wanted his next relationship to be genuine, like it was with Trista. Marlena dropped by to see Tony, and he congratulated her on being pregnant. Brenda Carlisle found Roman and asked for the interview, but Roman told her he needed time to think about it. She warned him that it would be old news later, but Roman took off. Marlena asked Melissa to call them once Bo started seeing visitors. Brenda asked Marlena for an interview, and she refused. She then asked Melissa for an interview, but Diane rushed in and asked for Bo’s room. Melissa told her that Bo couldn’t have any visitors.

Shawn apologized to Bo for always seeming to put Roman first. He told Bo that he proved he was a man, and said he was proud of him. Bo commented that it took a lot to get Shawn’s attention. Shawn told Bo to get well soon, because a lot of people were anxious to see him. Shawn left, and Bo said, “Yeah. Everybody but Hope.” Neil told Tony that he could be discharged by the end of the week. Tony said he would have to hire private detectives to help find Andre. Melissa told Eugene the reporter was trying to get information from her, and Eugene took Melissa to lunch. Roman couldn’t understand why Hope hadn’t been to see Bo. Marlena told him she believed Hope didn’t want to see Bo because he had pushed her away so many times. Marlena refused to let Roman blame himself for that. She went upstairs to take a nap, and Brenda the reporter arrived. She asked for five minutes of Roman’s time, and he agreed to give her two minutes. Brenda told Roman that if he would let her do the article on him, other media would leave him alone. She told him she wanted to do the personal angle, and to give him an opportunity to educate the public about Stefano DiMera and his nephew, Andre. Marlena came back downstairs, and Roman announced he was considering changing his mind about the interview. Hope arrived at the hospital but was told Bo was not allowed visitors. Hope saw Diane and asked her what was wrong with Bo and why he wasn’t seeing visitors. Diane told Hope that all she knew was that Bo didn’t want to see anyone . . . except Megan. Hope was stunned to hear that and asked if Megan was in Salem. Diane told her she assumed so. She reiterated that Bo didn’t want either one of them; he only wanted Megan. Hope left the hospital in tears.

Melissa went by Pete's home to give him a ride to work. Pete was embarrassed that Melissa saw his house and told her off. Chris warned Pete that Melissa didn't deserve that kind of treatment. Later, Melissa told Maggie she wished Pete had never seen their house. Don dropped by to pick up Maggie, and Pete showed up. Pete apologized to Melissa, then invited her to a party that was going to be thrown by the Vipers (the good ones).

Larry planned to give a press conference in which he praised Roman’s heroism, in the hope that it would take the heat off of him and his office. Hope found Melissa and told her she had a wonderful time in Las Vegas. Melissa asked if Hope heard that Bo was shot. Hope said yes, but she didn’t want to talk about Bo. Hope jumped up and asked Melissa to find Danny and tell him she had to leave; she had something very important to do. She then went to Larry’s office and told him she wanted to marry him. Anna went to visit Tony, who was very cool toward her. Anna told Tony she wanted to go to his place and get it ready for him, since he was being released tomorrow. Abe arrived and announced that there was no news about Andre. Tony decided to go ahead and leave the hospital, but Abe stopped him. Abe told Tony that if he left the hospital, he might end up dead. Hope told Larry she wanted to elope tonight. Larry was thrilled that she was accepting his proposal, but he wondered how to talk Hope out of eloping since Choate wanted a big, splashy ceremony.

Anna encouraged Tony to heed Abe’s warning, but Tony feared that Andre and Stefano would not be stopped. Abe reminded Tony that Stefano drowned in the river, but Tony reminded Abe that they still had not recovered a body. Tony asked Abe if he had searched London. Abe said they had searched London as well as Stefano’s jungle compound in Caracas (where he had held Mickey prisoner). Tony reminded Abe of the “island paradise” Stefano kept referring to, but Abe said there was no way to know which island he was talking about. Tony told Anna to find Neil and get his release papers, because he planned to leave the hospital today. Anna went outside and ran into Don, who asked what was going on. Anna told Don that her fate would be decided in the next few minutes. Larry told Hope he couldn’t elope tonight because of his scheduled press conference. He then told her he wanted her to have a big, beautiful wedding with a beautiful bridal gown, and all of her family and friends present. Hope agreed to it. Abe reminded Tony that it was his job to bring in Andre, but Tony said he would see to his cousin since the vendetta was personal. Abe asked Don to talk some sense into his client. Reporters swarmed the corridor and asked Anna for details about her life with Roman. Abe told the reporters to leave. Alice asked Abe if she could talk to him about Bo. She didn’t understand why Bo couldn’t have visitors. Abe told Alice he was going to talk to Neil about seeing Bo and he would let her know if he found out anything. Alice ran into an old friend, Blanche Dailey, and told her she had missed her at their bridge meetings. Blanche told Alice she really needed to talk to her and asked Alice to break a lunch date in order to meet with her. Alice agreed.

Tony asked Don who would be handling Stefano’s corporate affairs while the police searched for his body. Don said it was up to the courts. Tony asked what would happen if Stefano were declared dead. Don said it would still be up to the courts, but that Tony was Stefano’s legitimate heir even if he wasn’t his biological son. Tony asked if Alex would lose his house on the lake, and Don said yes. Don asked if Tony wanted to live there, but Tony said he didn’t want to live any place that had been desecrated by the presence of Alex Marshall. Don left, and Anna again asked Tony to let her get the penthouse ready for him. Tony told Anna that he had made a decision – that he would never allow himself to be a victim, emotionally or physically, to anyone ever again. Anna asked if that meant Tony was shutting her out of his life. Maxwell Hathaway, the man watching Roman at Doug’s Place, phoned someone to let them know he was going to meet with Don, and that Don would be representing him concerning his bank branches in Salem. He also asked the person to check on the arrival of his yacht in Salem’s harbor. He also asked the person to set up a meeting for him with Mr. Alex Marshall. To himself, he said that he and Alex might be able to help each other. Brenda Carlisle tried to talk Abe into going to lunch, but Abe nixed the idea. She then approached Alice about seeing Tony, but Alice told her to forget it. Tony told Anna that his feelings for her were complicated in the light of their history, but especially since had slept with Andre. Anna asked if Tony would let her live with him in the penthouse, and he said no. Tony admitted that he had always been fascinated by Anna, but he denied loving her. Anna told Tony that she loved him, and she wouldn’t settle for anything less than him loving her right back. He called out to her as she hurried out of his hospital room, and Brenda the reporter showed up at his door. Tony and Brenda were rude to each other, but he told her that when he found his cousin, he was going to “kick the hell out of him.” Brenda asked if he would then get Anna back. Replied Tony, “No, I don’t think I’m going to go that far.” Larry and Hope announced their engagement to his secretary, Flo. He asked Hope to call Alice and tell her. Hope went into the outer office, and Larry answered a call from Morgan, the reporter he hired to harass Hope. Morgan was giving him a report about Bo’s condition. Hope picked up the phone in the outer office and overheard the conversation. She told Larry what she heard (but she didn’t recognize Morgan’s voice), and he lied that he was trying to find out what, if anything, went down at the hospital because he had always worried about losing her to Bo. Hope assured Larry that Bo had a lot of growing up to do, but she wanted a man. Hope asked Larry to take her to lunch.

Larry and Hope went to lunch at Shenanigans. Hope asked Chris if he had heard from her cousin Sandy, but Chris told Hope it looked like Sandy was going to be staying in England. Larry asked Hope about a wedding date, and she warned him it would take several months to plan a big wedding. Larry told Hope that he couldn’t wait that long and indicated that he wanted to get married as soon as possible. Larry told Hope she would never regret marrying him. Don saw Anna at Doug’s Place, and she told him she was kicked out of the penthouse and was back to square one. Don figured she wouldn’t be there long. He then met with Maxwell Hathaway, who wanted to get right down to business. Alice and Blanche also met for lunch at Doug’s Place. Blanche told Alice that her husband was working long hours as the head of the customs bureau and that it seemed like he was keeping a secret. She told Alice that if he kept it up, she was going to hire a private detective. Larry held his press conference and announced that not only was he dropping all charges against Roman, but he was asking the City Council to create a medal of honor for him. Then Larry announced that he and Hope were engaged and would be getting married . . . in two weeks. Hope was stunned. Bo was watching the televised press conference and was shocked to learn that Hope and Larry were engaged. Melissa arrived to visit him, and Bo became angry and yelled at her. Neil arrived and reminded Bo that Melissa was a volunteer at the hospital and was also very concerned about him. Bo said he didn’t want to see anybody. Brenda Carlisle asked Larry if it was true he was considering running for lieutenant governor, and he said he had been approached. Hope told Larry that she had to call Doug and Julie. Brenda asked why her parents didn’t know about the engagement and suggested that it happened pretty fast. Hope said that Doug and Julie had been traveling, but said she was thrilled to be marrying Larry.

Thanks Dr.Chip. Really enjoyed the clips. We are getting to the part I loved best on days. Bo saving Hope at the wedding.

Me, too, DJM!

You know, lest I be given credit for something I didn't do, I should probably say that I am not responsible for all these great clips. Some others have spent a lot of time and done a lot of hard work to share them with us. I just enjoy stringing them all together in chronological order, summarizing the storylines, and enjoying "Days" from the past.

Slasher: Roman Agrees to the Interview, Pt 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMmeyyz01JQ

Alex told Anna he was interested in selling the movie rights to his story – of his entanglement with the DiMeras and how he risked his life to bring down Stefano. He encouraged Anna to join with him, but Anna didn’t want to make light of Tony’s nine months in a dungeon. Alex offered Anna a place to stay, but warned her that Tony would probably evict him in a couple of days. Anna told Alex she had to go see Carrie. Larry phoned an international designer and asked him to prepare Hope’s wedding dress. Hope was excited when Flo lied that Larry and Hope had been invited to the White House for a reception for the ambassador to Italy. Later, Larry told Flo she was pouring it on a little too thick. Larry phoned Choate, who was pleased with the press conference. Larry told him that his wedding to Hope would put Prince Charles and Lady Diana to shame. In the hospital, Bo had several flashbacks of happier times with Hope.

Hope fantasized about being married to Larry, but in her fantasy Bo showed up and professed his love to her. Marlena met Alex for lunch, and he told her that the $1 million check was lost the night of the concert. He assured her that he would draft another check as soon as the first one was traced. Alex told Marlena that he was planning to sell his story to Hollywood and would be sure to include Roman’s involvement. Marlena told Alex that Roman should be able to tell his own version of the story, but she wasn’t interested in working with Alex on the story. Don told Liz he would look over the many contracts and offers she received after the benefit concert. Don told Alex he needed to set up a meeting with him about his house, but Alex said he couldn’t talk and had to rush off. Alex hurried away, and Liz and Marlena wondered what that was about. Don figured that Alex would have trouble keeping the house without any of the DiMera money. Roman and Abe ran into Larry and Hope in the park. Larry announced their engagement, and Roman asked to speak privately with Hope. He asked her if Bo knew about the engagement. Hope told Roman that she hadn’t spoken with Bo, but that she was sure Larry was the right man for her. Anna was reunited with Carrie, who praised her mother for saving Tony’s life. Carrie asked if Tony and Anna were going to be married again, but Anna said no. Carrie asked Anna to move in with her and the Bradys, but Anna said there wouldn’t be room now that Marlena was going to have a baby. Carrie asked where Anna would live, and Anna replied that she wished she knew. Alex called Anna and told her to meet him that night, because he had more ideas about how to make some money. Alex tried to come up with a title for his screenplay and was considering “DiMera’s Demise,” “How I Saved Salem,” “The Hero,” and “The Man.”

A representative from a limousine service arrived at Alex’s house and told him that his new, customized limousine was almost ready. They were finishing the final touches, adding the Jacuzzi, the television, and the massage table. He asked for a check, and Alex suggested he have a drink. Neil and Liz smooched at Doug’s Place, and Melissa arrived with Carlo. She said she found him at the library, trying to learn more about Salem, and it was her idea to take him out on the town. Liz thanked Melissa for befriending Carlo, and Melissa suggested she might be able to help him find a girlfriend. Hope and Larry arrived, and Melissa told Hope she heard the news of her engagement. She asked Hope if she was really going to get married, and Hope said yes. Hope asked Melissa to be her maid of honor, and her cousin agreed. Liz sang “The More I See You.” Melissa invited Carlo to Hope’s wedding, and he told her he would like to go but he might be gone. He said he had to return to South America soon, but he asked her not to tell Neil or Liz. Melissa asked why he wanted to return so soon. He told her that he had to help his people . . . and his mother.

Roman forced his way into Bo’s room and argued with Bo about not telling Hope the truth about the investigation. He told Bo that if he would set Hope straight, she would cancel the wedding and return to Bo in a minute. Bo admitted to Roman that he was paralyzed and said he didn’t want Hope’s or anyone else’s pity. Carrie called Bo, and Roman left to see Neil. He questioned Neil about Bo’s condition, and Neil told Roman that Bo’s condition was very likely temporary. Roman returned to Bo’s room and said, “Bo, I have one more thing to say to you. You are a Brady. You are my brother. And maybe I didn’t always think that Hope was right for you, but that girl loves you, damn it. And if you have what God gave you that says you are a man, you will get off your butt, you’ll get out of that bed, you will find her, and you will tell her that you love her.” Bo screamed at Roman that he would if he could. He returned to his call with Carrie, who asked if Bo would marry her when she grew up. Bo said he would, then ended the call. Bo burst into tears.

Anna arrived at Alex’s place, and then the phone rang. Alex took a call from Maxwell Hathaway and agreed to an appointment. He introduced Anna but told the limousine rep he had to leave. The rep told Anna he was glad to meet her, because he had papers for her indicating he was about to repossess her car. Don then arrived at Alex’s house and told him that his house was reverting back to the DiMera estate, and Alex would have to move out as soon as possible. Marlena arrived home, and Roman told her that he finally learned from Bo that he may be paralyzed. He said that Bo knew about Hope and Larry’s engagement, but Bo swore him to secrecy about his condition. Brenda Carlisle rang the doorbell and asked Roman to confirm some things Alex had said about him for the interview. She also said Alex told her that Marlena gave him permission to share Roman’s side of the story. Marlena denied that, and Roman decided he would rather agree to the interview than have Alex share Roman’s own story. At Doug’s Place, Neil asked Hope if she was sure she wanted to marry Larry. Hope told him that she was very sure. Neil shrugged, then wished her as much happiness as he had found with Liz. In the hospital, Bo struggled to move his legs, saying, “She can’t marry Welch. She can’t.” Brenda told Roman that Alex reported reaching out to save Stefano, but losing him just as DiMera drowned. Roman told her that no one could prove what happened out there and said he believed Stefano might be alive. Brenda asked if he would tell the story, and he agreed. Roman and Marlena were surprised when Brenda called outside to a whole crew to come in and set up.
