I still think it's someone else leaving. Why would the actor request recurring status if he planned to leave?

DNA testing is supposed to be hard evidence, but with the ease Salemites have of switching results, no one there may ever know who their real parents are, lol. Hey, let's just change the results again if it doesn't work out the first time, eh? Surely there are many laymen in Salem who can keep people confused forever.

Joe Mascolo (Stefano) was still alive 6 months ago when the current scenes were being taped. So it "is" possible that we can get a scene with Stefano alive and well if he taped a few more.

Since Joe Mascolo's (Stefano) farewell cake says "see you soon", makes you wonder if he did come back and tape a few more scenes before his death.

Anyone logging into a file, cannot leave the computer without logging out.

I have a picture in my head of a person trying to leave the room without logging off, and a huge arm comes out of the computer and grabs him/her.

I'm sure the Nicole stuff will be wrapped up quickly or by Feb sweeps.
